Leading National and Global Cultural, Corporate and Media Entities Help Deliver DFI’s Qumra 2023

Doha: Leading cultural, corporate and media entities from Qatar and international have partnered with the Doha Film Institute to deliver a memorable Qumra 2023 – the Institute’s annual industry incubator event – to be held in an innovative hybrid format, with in-person events from March 10 to 15, and online sessions from March 19 to 21.
The organisations have united to underline their commitment to Qumra as a compelling platform for the development and promotion of emerging film talent that also engages the public through its Qumra Screenings and Masterclasses. While several partners are returning supporters across multiple editions, new partners have joined this year’s edition.

Museums, the Museum of Islamic Art and M7 have come on board as Cultural Partners of Qumra 2023. This year’s hybrid event is Supported By: Alwadi Doha – MGallery Hotel Collection is the event’s Official Hotel Partner; Darwish Holding (FNAC/SONY) is Official Electronics Partner; Qatar Airways is Official Airlines Partner; Aldo Coppola, Blumen Floral Art and Design and MATAR-Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management.
Friends of this latest edition of Qumra are Sarajevo Film Festival, British Council and the French Embassy in Qatar. Qumra 2023 is Promoted by I Love Qatar, Qatar Living and Doha News.

44 films, including feature narratives, documentaries, web series and shorts have been selected for the Doha Film Institute’s Qumra 2023, the Institute’s annual industry incubator event. Qumra 2023 will offer networking and development opportunities for the selected projects from 23 countries as part of Qumra’s mission to accelerate the success of filmmakers from the region and beyond and prepare them to bring their projects to audiences around the world.
Qumra 2023 features 13 projects by Qatar-based talent, including seven by Qatari nationals.
Highlighting the evolution of series, Qumra 2023 will nurture seven series projects by emerging talent.
Talents associated with the selected projects will participate in mentorship and networking activities. Of 44 projects, 29 are recipients of the Doha Film Institute’s Grants programme, and five are supported through the Qatari Film Fund. 24 projects have participated in DFI Training Programmes (Hezayah Scriptwriting lab, Producers Lab, Shorts Script Lab, Doc Lab with Rithy Panh, Series Lab and First Cut Lab). In all, eight feature projects are in development, five in production and 13 in post-production, 7 in Qumra Series, and 11 are in Qumra Shorts.

الدوحة: أعلنت مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام عن إبرام شراكات مع مؤسسات ثقافية وإعلامية رائدة محلية وعالمية لدعم ملتقى قمرة السينمائي 2023، الحاضنة السينمائية السنوية التي تنظمها مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام.
ويقام الملتقى ضمن نظام يجمع بين الحضور الواقعي والافتراضي، حيث تنظم أنشطة واقعية وجلسات تدريب اعتبارا من غد الجمعة حتى 15 مارس الجاري، إلى جانب أنشطة وفعاليات عبر الإنترنت في الفترة من 19 إلى 21 من الشهر ذاته.
وتعزز هذه الشراكات، التزام المؤسسات بدعم الملتقى ودوره كمنصة مهمة لتطوير وترويج المواهب الواعدة وإشراك الجمهور من خلال عروض الأفلام والندوات. كما انضم شركاء جدد للمشاركة في نسخة هذا العام في الوقت الذي يقوم فيه العديد من الشركاء بإعادة تقديم الدعم من جديد بعد شراكتهم في نسخ عديدة سابقة.
وقد انضمت متاحف قطر ومتحف الفن الإسلامي ومركز قطر للابتكار وريادة الأعمال في مجالات التصميم والأزياء والتكنولوجيا M7 كشركاء ثقافيين لقمرة 2023. كما يحظى الملتقى بدعم كل من: الخطوط الجوية القطرية وعدد من الشركات والفنادق القطرية.
وتضم قائمة أصدقاء المهرجان كلا من مهرجان سراييفو السينمائي والمجلس الثقافي البريطاني والسفارة الفرنسية لدى الدولة ، ويحظى الملتقى في هذه النسخة بدعم عدد من المنصات الإعلامية العربية والأجنبية.
وقالت السيدة فاطمة الغانم، رئيسة إدارة التسويق والاتصالات في مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام: في بيان اليوم “يعتبر ملتقى قمرة السينمائي الحدث الأبرز لصناعة السينما في المنطقة، ويتميز فعلاً بقدرته على استقطاب الخبراء من جميع قطاعات عالم السينما من أجل تحقيق هدف مشترك يتمثل برعاية أصوات جديدة ومستقلة في عالم السينما. ونتشرف بالحصول على دعم مؤسسات محلية وعالمية لأداء مهمتنا وتنفيذ رؤيتنا لإيجاد عالم سينما مفعم بالحياة”.
وأضافت الغانم لقد حقق قمرة تطوراً مهماً ليصبح منصة رئيسية لدعم صناع الأفلام في مسيرتهم، ابتداءً من كتابة النص ولغاية عرض الفيلم على الشاشة، مثمنة دعم الشركاء في قطر وخارجها للمواهب الصاعدة.
في سياق متصل اختار ملتقى قمرة 44 فيلماً، من ضمنها أفلام روائية ووثائقية طويلة، بالإضافة إلى أفلام قصيرة ومسلسلات للمشاركة في قمرة 2023، ويوفر الملتقى فرصاً للتواصل والتطوير للمشاريع المختارة من 23 بلداً ضمن رؤية ورسالة الملتقى في توفير الدعم لنجاح صناع الأفلام من المنطقة والعالم، وإعدادهم لإنجاز مشاريعهم وعرضها للجمهور في مختلف أرجاء العالم.
وتشمل مشاريع قمرة 2023 قائمة من 13 مشروعاً لمواهب سينمائية من قطر، من ضمنها 7 مشاريع لمواطنين قطريين، و7 مسلسلات لمواهب واعدة تعكس مدى تطور هذا النوع من الإنتاج.
وستشارك المواهب السينمائية العاملة على المشاريع المختارة في جلسات تدريب ونشاطات تواصل. ومن بين 44 مشروعاً في نسخة هذا العام، يشارك 29 مشروعاً حصل على دعم من برنامج المنح بمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، وخمسة مشاريع حصلت على دعم من صندوق الفيلم القطري. وقد شارك 24 مشروعاً من بين المشاريع المختارة في برامج تدريبية بالمؤسسة، منها ورشة حزاية لكتابة السيناريو، ورشة المنتجين، ورشة نصوص الأفلام القصيرة، ورشة الأفلام الوثائقية مع المخرج ريثي بان، ورشة المسلسلات، وورشة المونتاج الأولي.
وتنقسم المشاريع إلى ثمانية أفلام طويلة في مرحلة التطوير، خمسة أفلام طويلة في مرحلة الإنتاج، و13 فيلما طويلا في مرحلة ما بعد الإنتاج، كما تضم القائمة 7 مسلسلات و11 فيلماً قصيراً.
