QNL Hosts First Cultural Salon with Discussion on World Cup and Its Impact on Qatar, Region

Doha: Qatar National Library, in partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, has announced the launch of its newest cultural initiative, the “Cultural Salon” a platform that promotes dialogue and communication with subject-matter experts, with the aim of creating a positive atmosphere that enriches culture and raises public awareness through a series of periodic events.
The first event, to be held on 13 March, will be a discussion about the effects that the 2022 FIFA World Cup has had on Qatar and the region. The session will be moderated by HE President of the Qatar Press Center Saad Mohammed Al Rumaihi, and will feature distinguished experts Professor of Political Science at Hamad Bin Khalifa University Dr. Ibrahim Arafat, and broadcaster, sports commentator, and former Director of BeIN Sports Ayman Jada.
Commenting on the occasion HE Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, further elaborated on the significance of the “Cultural Salon”, stating, “We believe that fostering open dialogue and promoting a positive atmosphere that enriches culture and raises public awareness is critical for the development and progress of any society.
The Cultural Salon will serve as an avenue for intellectuals, subject-matter experts, and the public to exchange ideas, share their perspectives, and engage in constructive discussions that can lead to new insights and solutions and cultural enrichment within the community.” This event marks the beginning of a new chapter in cultural activities at the Library, as the “Cultural Salon” will host a series of events throughout the year, featuring experts from a variety of fields. It further aims to support the country’s cultural and intellectual scene, providing a platform for diverse voices and perspectives. It seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can engage in thoughtful discussions and broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world.

الدوحة: أعلنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية إطلاق أحدث مبادراتها الثقافية الموسومة بـ /الصالون الثقافي/، بالتعاون مع جامعة حمد بن خليفة، ليكون منبرا للحوار والتواصل مع نخب فكرية وثقافية لخلق مناخ إيجابي يثري الثقافة، ويعزز الوعي العام في سلسلة من اللقاءات الدورية.
يستهل الصالون الثقافي أنشطته يوم الاثنين المقبل (13 مارس الجاري) بجلسة نقاشية حول تأثيرات تنظيم كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 على قطر والمنطقة، يديرها سعادة السيد سعد بن محمد الرميحي رئيس مجلس إدارة المركز القطري للصحافة، ويشارك فيها كل من الدكتور إبراهيم عرفات أستاذ العلوم السياسية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة، وأيمن جادة مذيع ومقدم برامج والمدير السابق لقنوات بي إن سبورت.
وحول أهمية الصالون الثقافي للمكتبة وتأثيره المرتقب على المشهد الثقافي، قال سعادة الدكتور حمد بن عبدالعزيز الكواري، وزير الدولة ورئيس مكتبة قطر الوطنية، في تصريح له بالمناسبة: “لدينا قناعة بأن الحوار المفتوح الذي يسهم في نشر مناخ إيجابي يثري الفضاء الثقافي، والوعي العام يرسي ركيزة أساسية لتقدم أي مجتمع وازدهاره”، معربا عن تطلعه بأن يكون هذا الصالون الثقافي مجلسا يحتضن نخب الخبراء والمفكرين والمثقفين من مختلف المجالات والتخصصات لتبادل الأفكار والرؤى والتحليلات ووجهات النظر، عبر مناقشات حوارية بناءة ومثمرة تفضي إلى استكشاف أفكار وحلول جديدة حول مختلف قضايا الساعة التي تهم المجتمع والرأي العام.
وتستهل الجلسة النقاشية الأولى ضمن الصالون الثقافي فصلا جديدا من الأنشطة الثقافية التي تنظمها المكتبة، وعلى مدار العام، سيعقد الصالون، سلسلة من الحوارات النقاشية الدورية التي تستضيف خبراء في مختلف التخصصات؛ بهدف تعزيز المشهد الثقافي والفكري العام، وإتاحة فضاء رحب يحتضن الرؤى المتنوعة والأفكار ووجهات النظر المختلفة، وتمكين أفراد المجتمع من المشاركة في مناقشات فكرية ملهمة تواكب تطلعاتهم واحتياجاتهم المعرفية، وتعمق فهمهم للقضايا الداخلية والخارجية.
