Commencement of Upgrading Works of Some Streets in Ain Khaled Area

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced commencement of upgrading works of some streets in Ain Khaled area, as part of road upgrade works of Doha City – Phase 1 implemented by the authority to regulate the traffic movement in main streets and develop infrastructure services that will serve the area residents as well as several service, health and educational facilities.

On this occasion, Eng. Mooza Al Sowaidi, Head of Doha City Section at the Roads Project Department at Ashghal, noted that the project is apart of the authority’s efforts to upgrade the internal roads network and its connection to the main road network, in addition to improving the existing facilities and developing the infrastructure to accommodate urban and social growth needs in the country, particularly as Ain Khaled area is witnessing population growth and active traffic movement.

Eng. Mooza Al Sowaidi added that the upgrading works will include improving and upgrading two main streets, namely Waab Lebareg and Rawdat Al Thekhriya streets, which serve many residential units and service and educational facilities including Um Al Seneem Park, Um Al Seneem Health Centre, and Qatar Science and Technology School. Eng. Mooza also noted that the project is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2024. The works being implemented include construction of a 3km long two-way roads and two signalized interchanges, and provision of 6km long pedestrian and cycling paths and 238 car parking lots. Interlock installation works will also be implemented on an area of 51,000 sqm, alongside beautification works on an area of 25,000 sqm and planting of 998 trees.

Infrastructure works in the project include upgrading of existing surface water drainage network and construction of 3.5 km of new pipelines, in addition to upgrading of 1 km long potable water pipelines, protecting 5 km long electricity lines, upgrading the street lighting systems by extending lighting cables along 8.5 km and installing 98 lighting poles, in addition to provision of 2.5 km of communication network lines.

It is worth noting that Ashghal has implemented a plan in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic to coordinate traffic movement and implement traffic diversions during the project period to minimize the impacts of construction and development works in the area.

As part of Ashghal’s continuous support of local manufacturers and products, and in line with ‘Ta’heel’ initiative launched in 2017, local Qatari resource and factories will be relied on to import materials such as gabbro, directional signs, lighting poles, sewer and rainwater drainage pipes, asphalt, premade manholes, concrete and reinforced steel. The plan aims at using local components up to 70% of the project’s work.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” أعمال تحسين بعض الشوارع في منطقة عين خالد، ضمن أعمال مشروع تحسين الطرق في مدينة الدوحة – المرحلة الأولى، والذي تنفذه الهيئة بهدف تنظيم الحركة المرورية بالشوارع الرئيسية، وتطوير خدمات البنية التحتية بما يخدم سكان المنطقة والعديد من المرافق الخدمية، والمنشآت الصحية والتعليمية فيها.

وفي هذا الصدد، أوضحت المهندسة موزة السويدي، من إدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال”، أن المشروع يعد جزءا من جهود الهيئة لتطوير شبكة الطرق الداخلية، وتعزيز الربط فيما بينها مع شبكة الطرق الرئيسية، إلى جانب تحسين مرافق الخدمات القائمة، وتطوير البنية التحتية بما يستجيب لمتطلبات النمو العمراني والاجتماعي في البلاد.

وقالت: إن أعمال التطوير تشمل تحسين وتطوير شارعين رئيسيين /شارع وعب لبارق وشارع روضة الذخرية/، اللذين يخدمان عددا من الوحدات السكنية والمنشآت الخدمية والتعليمية، ومن المخطط الانتهاء من تنفيذ أعمال المشروع في الربع الأول من عام 2024.

وأشارت المهندسة موزة السويدي إلى أن الأعمال التي سيتم تنفيذها تشمل إنشاء طرق باتجاهين بطول إجمالي 3 كم، وإنشاء تقاطعين جديدين بإشارات ضوئية مع توفير مسارات مخصصة للمشاة، ومسارات مخصصة للدراجات الهوائية بطول 6 كم، و238 موقفا للسيارات، كما سيتم أيضا تركيب /الإنترلوك/ على مساحة 51 ألف متر مربع، إلى جانب أعمال تجميل تغطي مساحة 25 ألف متر مربع، وزراعة 998 شجرة.

وبينت أن أعمال البنية التحتية بالمشروع تتضمن تطوير الخطوط القائمة لشبكة تصريف المياه السطحية، وإنشاء خطوط جديدة بطول إجمالي 3.5 كم، إلى جانب تطوير خطوط مياه الشرب بطول 1 كم، وحماية خطوط شبكات الكهرباء بطول 5 كم، وتطوير أنظمة إنارة الشوارع بمد كابلات إنارة بطول 8.5 كم، وتركيب 98 عمودا، كما سيتم مد خطوط شبكة الاتصالات بطول 2.5 كم.

الجدير بالذكر أن الهيئة وضعت خطة بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور؛ لتنسيق حركة المرور، وتنفيذ التحويلات المرورية خلال فترة تنفيذ المشروع بشكل يقلل قدر الإمكان من تأثير أعمال الإنشاء والتطوير بالمنطقة.

وفي إطار دعم الهيئة للمصنعين المحليين والمنتج المحلي، واستكمالا لمبادرة “تأهيل” التي أطلقتها عام 2017، سيتم الاعتماد على المصادر والمصانع المحلية القطرية لتوريد مواد وعناصر مثل الجابرو، واللوحات الإرشادية، وأعمدة الإنارة، وأنابيب الصرف الصحي وتصريف مياه الأمطار والإسفلت، والمناهل مسبقة الصنع، بالإضافة إلى الخرسانة وحديد التسليح، ومن المستهدف أن تصل نسبة المكون المحلي 70 بالمئة من أعمال المشروع.
