Qatar Participates in 54th Edition of Cairo International Book Fair

Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishers, will participate in the 54th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF), due to kick off Wednesday.
The Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Press and Dar Al Watad for Publishing and Distribution are among the Qatari publishers whose publications will go on display in the book fair which runs through Feb. 6.
The Ministry of Culture’s participation in international book fairs seeks to introduce Qatari intellectual production to large audiences of readers to learn about the continuous development in the publishing industry in the State of Qatar, as well as enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences with workers in the field of culture and the publishing industry.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Executive Director of HBKU Press, Bachar Chebaro ascribed the participation to the HBKU’s continuous commitment to showcasing its best publications to the Arab and international audiences, given the CIBF’s prestige as one of the largest and well established book fairs in the region, and its huge pavilions that accommodate a huge number of publishers from worldwide.
The HBKU Press actively participates in regional and international cultural events out of its keenness to continue backing Arab talents, and pay further attention and appreciation to Arab literature and narration, Chebaro told QNA.
Amira Al Rifai from Dar Al Watad told QNA that 20 of the company’s publications would be on exhibition at the Ministry of Culture’s pavilion at the CIBF, highlighting the company’s recent publications on law, novel, and childrens stories. She hailed the participation in such an international fair as a contribution to introducing the Arab reader to their publications and consolidating the cultural relationship between writers and Arab readers.
The CIBF, one of the most respected book fairs in the region and the world, brings together 1047 publishers and 51 countries. It will feature 500 cultural events on the sidelines of its activities in the presence of a group of poets and writers to discuss the latest publications.

وتأتي مشاركة الوزارة حرصاً على التواجد في معارض الكتب الدولية التي تعتبر فرصة لعرض الإنتاج الفكري القطري لجمهور عريض من القراء للتعرف على التطور المستمر في صناعة النشر بدولة قطر، إضافة إلى تعزيز التعاون وتبادل الخبرات مع العاملين في مجال الثقافة وصناعة النشر.
وقال السيد بشار شبارو المدير التنفيذي لدار جامعة حمد بن خليفة للنشر في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء القطرية /قنا/: “تشارك دار جامعة حمد بن خليفة للنشر في معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب في إطار التزامها المستمر بتقديم أرقى الأعمال المنشورة للجمهور العربي والعالمي، نظرًا لأن معرض القاهرة أحد أكبر معارض الكتب وأقدمها في المنطقة، ويضم قاعات عرض ضخمة تتسع لكم هائل من الناشرين من شتى أنحاء العالم، ويفسح المجال للتواصل مع جمهور القراء والتفافهم حول حِلق الثقافة والأدب”.
وأضاف، “تحرص الدار على مواصلة دعم المواهب العربية، وتولي مزيدًا من الاهتمام والتقدير للأدب والسرد العربي من خلال إثبات وجودها الفاعل في بلدان إفريقيا، وتهتم بالتواجد في معارض الكتب بمختلف أنحاء العالم، وإننا لنفخر بحضورنا الفاعل على الساحة الثقافية الإقليمية، والذي يجتذب المزيد من التفاعل مع القراء المحليين والعرب مع كل دورة لمعارض الكتب”.
وأوضح، تسعى الدار بشكل دائم لتحديث مجموعة إصداراتها المعروضة للجمهور بلغات مختلفة، منها كتب في علم النفس، وأخرى في قصص النجاح، إضافة إلى العديد من الأعمال الأدبية الكلاسيكية.
من جهتها، قالت أميرة الرفاعي مسؤول مبيعات في دار الوتد في تصريح مماثل لـ /قنا/: تأتي مشاركة الدار بعرض 20 عنوانا من إصداراتها في معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب عبر جناح وزارة الثقافة، لافتة إلى أن الدار أصدرت مؤخرا العديد من الكتب المتنوعة في القانون، والرواية، وقصص الأطفال وغيرها أيضا، معتبرة التواجد في مثل هذا المعرض الدولي يسهم في تعريف القارئ العربي بإصدارات الدار وتوطيد العلاقة الثقافية بين الكُتاب والقارئ العربي.
ويشارك في فعاليات المعرض 1047 ناشراً و51 دولة وتقام على هامشه 500 فعالية ثقافية، بحضور مجموعة من الشعراء والكتاب لمناقشة أحدث الإصدارات.
