IPA Qatar Leads Panel on Diversification, Development at World Economic Forum in Davos

Davos: The Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (IPA Qatar) highlighted the prospects and means of economic diversification and development as well as the challenges confronting policymakers in energy-rich nations, who are working towards a future with reduced hydrocarbon emissions in a high-level panel of discussion, held Wednesday on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

HE CEO of IPA Qatar Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, along with a group of speakers, participated in the panel of discussion that was sponsored by the IPA Qatar in partnership with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) under the theme “Diversifying and Developing: How Energy Can Drive Expansion.” The speakers discussed the growing push for business sustainability and examined the value of specific growth strategies, such as improving infrastructure, expanding education and developing new sectors, including healthcare, hospitality and sports.

With a focus on “Cooperation in a Fragmented World,” Davos 2023 is a platform for global government, business and civil society leaders to engage in constructive, forward-looking dialogue in an effort to address the state of the world and help find solutions through public-private cooperation.

This year’s edition of the forum is the first to be held as usual in mid-January since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, in presence of foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

دافوس: سلطت وكالة ترويج الاستثمار في قطر، الضوء على آفاق وسبل التنويع الاقتصادي والتنمية، والتحديات التي تواجه صانعي السياسات في بناء مستقبل يشهد انخفاضا عالميا في الانبعاثات الكربونية، خلال جلسة نقاش عقدت اليوم على هامش أعمال المنتدى الاقتصادي العالمي، المنعقد حاليا بمدينة /دافوس/ السويسرية.

وشارك سعادة الشيخ علي بن الوليد آل ثاني الرئيس التنفيذي لوكالة ترويج الاستثمار في قطر، إلى جانب مجموعة من المتحدثين، في الجلسة التي حملت عنوان /التنويع الاقتصادي والتنمية: كيف تسهم الطاقة في دعم التوسع الاقتصادي/، وقادتها الوكالة بالشراكة مع صحيفة /وول ستريت جورنال/.

وتناول المتحدثون الحاجة الملحة لاستدامة الأعمال، ومدى قيمة استراتيجيات النمو المتخصصة على غرار تطوير البنية التحتية، والنهوض بمستوى التعليم، علاوة على تطوير قطاعات جديدة كالرعاية الصحية، والضيافة، والرياضة.

ويعد منتدى /دافوس 2023/، الذي يعقد هذا العام تحت شعار “التعاون في عالم مجزأ”، منبرا هاما يتيح لقادة الدول والشركات والمجتمع المدني المشاركة في حوار بناء وتبادل الأفكار، بهدف التصدي للتحديات العالمية، وإيجاد الحلول الفعالة للقضايا المطروحة من خلال التعاون بين القطاعين العام والخاص.

وتعقد دورة هذا العام خلال الفترة من 16 – 20 يناير، بحضور نخبة من قادة الدول والاقتصاديين ورجال الأعمال، وتعتبر الأولى منذ ظهور وباء /كوفيد-19/، التي تعقد في الموعد المعتاد للمنتدى بمنتصف يناير من كل عام.
