Ministers hail naming of Corridor project after Kuwait Amir
الوزراء يشيدون بإطلاق اسم أمير دولة الكويت على مشروع «طريق المحور»
Doha: On the occasion of the launch of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor road project yesterday, Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie naming ‘Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor’ after the Amir of Kuwait is a token of appreciation for Kuwait’s consistent support of Qatar both politically and economically.
The Minister expressed his happiness at the launch of ‘Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor’ project in Qatar, which he said: “Expresses our gratitude to Kuwait for its unwavering brotherly stand with the people of Qatar.”
The Minister further said that this was the least that Qatar could do to honour this bond. Regarding road’s significance, the Minister highlighted that the Corridor was a vital artery of Qatar’s road network enhancing north-south connectivity and providing access to more than 25 residential areas.
Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti said that the launch of the Corridor was a gesture to celebrate Kuwait’s 58th National Day and 28th liberation anniversary on February 25th and ‘share the festivities with our brothers in Kuwait’.
“Like every year we celebrate with our bothers in Kuwait these two great occasions, hoping to intensify affection and brotherhood between the two sisterly countries,” the Minister added.
The Minister said that the new Corridor included several multi-level interchanges, which would significantly relieve traffic on Doha Expressway, provide smooth traffic flow between south and north of Doha as well as reduce the travel time by up to 70 percent. “It will also provide a direct connection to Hamad International Airport as well as a link to approximately 15 major expressways and ring roads to serve many economic, commercial, health and education facilities across Doha,” the Minister added.
President of The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’, Dr Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, also expressed his pride of the launch of the new Corridor project as a consolidation of the brotherly relations between the people of Qatar and Kuwait and the loyalty to the people and the Amir of the State of Kuwait.
He explained that Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor was the first road in the country called the corridor because of its strategic importance and specifications of its unique construction on pointing out that the road would serve as a “Doha traffic relief” where it would reduce traffic congestion on 22 February Street through finding a parallel alternative road, with a vehicle capacity of nearly the double.
The President of the Public Works Authority explained that the Corridor project was launched in 2018, included four contracts, which would upgrade E-Ring Road, F-Ring Road, Mesaimeer Road, Al Bustan Street South and Al Bustan Street North and is expected to be complete by 2021.
He added that Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor would facilitate access to five of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums namely Ras Bu Abboud, Al Thumama, Al Wakrah, Khalifa International and Qatar Foundation Stadiums.
أكد سعادة السفير حفيظ محمد العجمي، سفير دولة الكويت لدى قطر، أن مبادرة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، إطلاق اسم صاحب السمو الشيخ صباح الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير دولة الكويت الشقيقة (حفظهما الله ورعاهما)، على مشروع «طريق المحور» الذي دشّنه معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، بحضور سمو الشيخ ناصر المحمد الأحمد الصباح ممثل صاحب السمو أمير دولة الكويت، في حفل أقيم بفندق الشيراتون صباح أمس، تُعدّ «رسالة حب مقدّرة من الأشقاء القطريين إلى الكويت وقائدها والشعب الكويتي».
وقال سعادته: «إن تسمية هذا المشروع الذي يُعدّ أحد أهم الطرق الرئيسية في قطر باسم سمو أمير الكويت تمثّل تقديراً لمكانة سموّه، وتكريماً لجهوده الإنسانية وإنجازاته محلياً وإقليمياً ودولياً، والتي يشهد بها القاصي والداني بأنها حافلة بالعطاء».
وأضاف العجمي: «هذه المبادرة القطرية الكريمة أبلغ دليل على عمق الروابط الأخوية بين البلدين الشقيقين، وتحمل في ثناياها لمسة وفاء تعكس مدى حب الإخوة في قطر لبلد الإنسانية وقائد العمل الإنساني وشعبه، خصوصاً أنها جاءت في خضم فرحة الكويت بأعيادها الوطنية. وأودّ أن أعرب عن التقدير والعرفان لهذه المبادرة التي لها أثر طيب في قلوب ووجدان الكويتيين»؛ مشيداً في الوقت نفسه بمشاركة قطر المتميزة هذا العام في احتفالات الكويت بأعيادها الوطنية عبر إقامة فعاليات متنوعة.
وأشار إلى أن هذه المبادرة تعبّر عما تكنّه القيادة السياسية في قطر وحكومتها الرشيدة وشعبها الشقيق، من محبة وتقدير واعتزاز بدور سمو أمير الكويت في جميع المجالات، لا سيّما حنكته ودبلوماسيته في التعاطي مع كل مستجدات المنطقة.
وأوضح أن المشاركة القطرية في احتفالات الكويت الوطنية هذا العام كانت متميزة؛ إذ شملت كل المجالات التراثية والفنية والرياضية، وغيرها من الفعاليات التي نقدّرها ونعتز بها، والتي من شأنها تعزيز أواصر العلاقات وتطويرها.
