Doha: The Education City Stadium is one of the stadiums that will host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Dubbed as the “Jewel of the Desert”, design of the Stadium inspired by the rich history of the Islamic architecture mixed with amazing modernity.
The Education City Stadium symbolizes innovation, sustainability and progress for decades to come, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Stadium is located within the Qatar Foundation’s Education City and has a capacity of 40,000 spectators.
Its location in the heart of Education City gives the Stadium its uniqueness as it is overlooking the most important main roads, starting from the Southern Khalifa district to the coastal city of Dukhan, and passing through many residential areas that will be attractions for World Cup visitors.
The Education City Stadium draws a chapter in the history of the Islamic architectural art. On the exterior, triangles create complex diamond-like geometrical patterns that sparkle as the sun moves across the sky. At night, a digital light show illuminates the façade, giving fans a remarkable surprise performance.
Like diamonds, the stadium’s design represents quality, durability and resilience, and will become something to be treasured both for the memories it holds and its future value to the country and region.
The Education City Stadium will host 8 matches during the World Cup 2022, with a capacity reaching 40.000 fans. The number of the seats will be reduced to 20.000 after the end of the tournament after dismantling the seats of the upper stands to donate them to countries lacking sports infrastructure.
The stadium is the first World Cup stadium to receive the five-star Global Sustainability Assessment System program (GSAS) in sustainability. It is a shining beacon for sustainable and environmentally friendly stadium industry, a model to be guided by in using smart building systems.
The stadium was announced ready on June 15, 2020. It is located 12km from Downtown Doha, in the western area of the south campus of the Education City.
The Education City Stadium will be a model for others to follow thanks to its use of smart building systems, such as lighting and air conditioning units that automatically turn off when not in use in order to reduce energy consumption. The Stadium has environmentally friendly design and construction practices which help reduce the carbon footprint of the stadium, not only during the construction phase, but throughout the usage of the stadium.
The stadium was designed using the best internationally adopted practices, leading to high levels of water and energy efficiency. At least 20% of the materials used in the stadium are from sustainable sources.
In addition, 55% of the total building materials were purchased from local sources, so that it contributes to reducing carbon emissions from the stadium.
In the surrounding areas, drought-tolerant endemic plants were planted, accounting for 75% of the total green spaces.
After the World Cup, the Education City Stadium will attract students and surrounding communities through its three world-class sporting pavilions: one for swimming, one for indoor sports, and a final pavilion for a track and field stadium.
Fans can easily reach Education City Stadium by car or Metro, as it is only 7km from the heart of Doha.
Characterized by the advanced cooling technologies as in all stadiums of the FIFA Qatar 2022, a moderate temperature is maintained throughout the year for players and fans to feel completely comfortable.

الدوحة: استاد المدينة التعليمية الملقب بـ”جوهرة الصحراء” هو أحد الملاعب التي ستستضيف مباريات بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، ويستلهم هذا الملعب تصميمه من التاريخ الغني بفن العمارة الإسلامية الأصيل ممزوجاً بالحداثة.
ويرمز استاد المدينة التعليمية للابتكار والاستدامة والتقدم لعقود قادمة، وذلك تماشيا مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، ويقع الملعب ضمن المدينة التعليمية التابعة لمؤسسة قطر وتبلغ طاقته الاستيعابية 40 ألف متفرج.
وأهم ما يميز الاستاد أنه يقع في قلب المدينة التعليمية، وهو موقع مميز للغاية خاصة أنه يطل على أهم الطرق الرئيسية، والذي يبدأ من منطقة خليفة الجنوبية وحتى مدينة دخان الساحلية، ويمر على الكثير من المناطق السكانية التي ستشكل مناطق جذب لزوار المونديال.
ويرسم استاد المدينة التعليمية فصلا من تاريخ الفن المعماري الإسلامي الغني، حيث تتميز واجهته بالمثلثات التي تشكل زخرفات هندسية متشابكة كخطوط الألماس تعكس نور الشمس، وتبدي تغيرا في ألوانها كلما تغيرت الزاوية التي تطل منها أشعة الشمس أثناء دورانها في السماء من الشروق إلى الغروب.
ولأنه مستوحى من الألماس، يمثل تصميم الاستاد الجودة، والمتانة، والمرونة، كما أنه سيصبح مكانا عزيزا على قلوب كل من زاره وعاش فيه تجربة ستبقى حاضرة في ذاكرته إلى الأبد، وذا قيمة عالية في نظر كل من يراه جزءا من مستقبل البلاد والمنطقة المشرق.
ويستضيف استاد المدينة التعليمية 8 مباريات في بطولة كأس العالم قطر 2022 من دور المجموعات حتى ربع النهائي، وستبلغ طاقته الاستيعابية خلال البطولة 40 ألف مشجع، على أن يجري خفض عدد مقاعد الاستاد بعد انتهاء البطولة إلى 20 ألف مقعد، وذلك بعد تفكيك مقاعد المدرجات العلوية للتبرع بها لدول تفتقر إلى البنية التحتية الرياضية.
ويعد الاستاد أول ملاعب مونديال قطر الذي يحصل على شهادة من فئة الخمس نجوم في الاستدامة، كما يعد منارة مشعة لصناعة الاستادات المستدامة والصديقة للبيئة، ونموذجا يسترشد به بفضل استخدامه أنظمة المباني الذكية، وفصلا من تاريخ الفن المعماري الإسلامي الذي تنتشر في محيطه المناظر الطبيعية الجميلة وعدد من الجامعات العالمية الرائدة.
وقد أعلن عن جاهزية الاستاد يوم 15 يونيو 2020، ويبعد 12 كلم عن قلب العاصمة القطرية الدوحة، ويتسع لـ40 ألف متفرج، ويقع في المنطقة الغربية من الحرم الجنوبي للمدينة التعليمية.
استاد المدينة التعليمية سيكون نموذجا يسترشد به الآخرون بفضل استخدامه أنظمة المباني الذكية، مثل وحدات الإضاءة وتكييف الهواء التي يتوقف تشغيلها آليا في حال عدم استخدامها بهدف خفض استهلاك الطاقة، كما سيساعد التصميم وممارسات الإنشاء التي تراعي الحفاظ على البيئة، في خفض الأثر الكربوني للاستاد، ليس خلال مرحلة البناء فحسب، بل وطوال مدة الاستفادة من الاستاد.
تصميم الاستاد جرى باستخدام أفضل الممارسات المعتمدة عالميا، والتي سينتج عنها مستويات عالية من كفاءة استهلاك المياه والطاقة، حيث إن 20% على الأقل من المواد المستخدمة في مشروع الاستاد من مصادر مستدامة، إضافة إلى شراء 55 من مجموع مواد البناء من مصادر محلية، بحيث يساهم في التقليل من انبعاثات الكربون الناتجة عن الاستاد… أما في المناطق المحيطة، فقد تم استخدام نباتات متوطنة تتحمل الجفاف، وذلك بنسبة 75% من إجمالي المساحات الخضراء.
وبفضل هذه الاستراتيجيات الخاصة بالترابط بين المباني، نجح استاد المدينة التعليمية في أن يصبح أول استاد في العالم يحصل على شهادة برنامج نظام تقييم الاستدامة العالمي (GSAS) من فئة الخمس نجوم.
ويعكس تصميم الاستاد خصائص الألماس الذي يمتاز بجودته ومتانته ومرونته، وسيحظى الاستاد بمكانة خاصة لدى الجميع، سواء بفضل ما سيشهده من أحداث وفعاليات، أو ما سيحمله من قيمة في مستقبل الدولة.
وسيظل الملعب نقطة محورية في المجتمع بعد فترة طويلة من انتهاء البطولة على المدى الطويل، ليصبح استاد المدينة التعليمية نقطة جذب للطلاب والمجتمعات المحيطة من خلال الأجنحة الرياضية الثلاثة ذات المستوى العالمي: واحد للسباحة، وواحد للرياضات الداخلية، وجناح نهائي لملعب المضمار والميدان.
وبإمكان الجماهير الوصول بسهولة إلى استاد المدينة التعليمية باستخدام المركبات أو المترو، كونه لا يبعد عن قلب مدينة الدوحة سوى سبعة كيلومترات.

ويشهد المشجعون بمجرد وصولهم إلى المكان المساحات الخضراء الجميلة والمرافق المتطورة المحيطة بالاستاد، والتي روعيَ في بنائها معايير الاستدامة والاستمرارية. تضم هذه المرافق ملاعب تدريب لكرة القدم، وملعباً للجولف، ومتاجر.
