Doha: The Doha Film Institute will present nine captivating short films, specially curated from around the world for public audiences at VOX Cinemas, Doha Festival City as part of the Doha Film Experience, from Nov. 24 to 26, 2022.

As Qatar welcomes the world in a celebration of sport, Doha Film Institute is hosting an unmissable festival of creativity. Taking place over four action-packed weeks, The Doha Film Experience is a cultural showcase presenting the very best in Arab and international filmmaking, pop culture and art.

Chief Executive Office of the Doha Film Institute Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, said: “The public film screenings of the Doha Film experience are especially close to our hearts. These short films will delight audiences for the broad perspectives they represent, enabling viewers to gain a deeper understanding of our shared humanity. Our carefully curated shorts program reflects the diversity of our experiences, and it will provide the community with an opportunity to discover new ideas and perspectives through these unique tales.” The nine short films include the three winners of the 2022 Special 10th Edition of the Ajyal Film Festival. Dont miss this limited theatrical release of regional and international short films. The short films to be screened at VOX Cinemas, Doha Festival City are: The winner of the 2022 Ajyal Jury Award in the Hilal category, It Feels Personal (UK/2021) by Hugh Clegg depicts how the director, realising that a video has been stolen and turned into a viral meme, embarks on an internet odyssey to expose the perpetrator.

The winner in Ajyals Bader category, Its Nice in Here (The Netherlands/2022) by Robert-Jonathan Koeyers, is a fragmented portrait of a boy nicknamed Crimson, seen through the eyes of the police officer that took his life, and his best friend who witnessed it all.

The winner in the Mohaq category, Canary (Canada/2022), directed by Pierre-Hugues Dallaire and Benoit Therriault, is about young Sonny, who doesnt like mining much. He trains his pet canary to play dead to get the day off in this well-crafted animated short about honesty, integrity, and friendship.

The Headhunters Daughter (Philippines, 2021), directed by Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan, is the story of a young girl who leaves her family behind to try her luck in the city as a country singer. The Sundance Film Festival-awarded short is about the erosion and ultimate replacement of indigenous cultural traditions.

Ice Merchants (Portugal, UK, France/2022) by Jo?o Gonzalez, is about a father and his son who bravely parachute jump from their house carrying with them the precious cargo of ice that they produce in this foreboding animation about climate change.

Mkawda (Algeria/2021) directed by Souad Douibi, uses the metaphor of a doctor listening to an ailing patients beating heart, to take viewers through the streets of Algiers for a “check-up” on its inhabitants.

Supported by the Doha Film Institute, Rest in Piece (Germany, France, Qatar/2021) directed by Antoine Antabi is about Midyan, who is forced to flee his war-torn home. Packing only a suitcase of his dearest possessions, he embarks on a perilous journey into the unknown.

Displaced (Kosovo/2021) by Samir Karahoda, is set in post-war Kosovo, where hoping to keep their beloved sport alive, two local players wander from one obscure location to another, carrying the clubs only possession their ping-pong tables.

الدوحة: أعلنت مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام عن تقديم “تجربة الدوحة للأفلام” خلال الفترة من 24 إلى 26 نوفمبر الجاري لعرض 9 أفلام قصيرة من مختلف أرجاء العالم في “فوكس سينما” بمول دوحة فستيفال سيتي.

وتحتفل مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام بأفضل ما تقدمه صناعة الأفلام المحلية والدولية والفنون الإبداعية، بينما ترحب دولة قطر بجماهير بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، ضمن “تجربة الدوحة للأفلام” التي تضم عروضًا ثقافية مبهرة، في أماكن رئيسية عديدة في الدوحة.

وقالت فاطمة حسن الرميحي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام في هذا السياق، إن عروض الأفلام العامة في تجربة الدوحة للأفلام، تتمتع بمكانة خاصة لدى المؤسسة، منوهة إلى أن هذه الأفلام القصيرة ستحظى بإعجاب الجمهور بفضل المفاهيم والأفكار المتنوعة التي تتناولها، لتمكنّهم من اكتساب فهم أعمق لقيمنا الإنسانية المشتركة.

وأضافت: “إن برنامج الأفلام القصيرة الذي أعددناه يعكس تنوع تجاربنا، وسيوفر للمجتمع فرصة اكتشاف أفكار ومفاهيم جديدة من خلال هذه القصص الفريدة”، وتتضمن قائمة الأفلام القصيرة ثلاثة أفلام فازت بجوائز الدورة العاشرة والخاصة من مهرجان أجيال السينمائي 2022، حيث يمكن للجمهور الاستفادة من هذه الفرصة لمشاهدة أحد أروع الأفلام القصيرة من المنطقة والعالم.

والأفلام القصيرة التي سيتم عرضها هي: فيلم “أمر شخصي” الفائز بجائزة أفضل فيلم قصير في فئة هلال في مهرجان أجيال السينمائي 2022 من إنتاج (المملكة المتّحدة / 2022) للمخرج هيو كليج، ويتتبع الفيلم شخصية /هيو/ صانع محتوى رقمي، بعد أن اكتشف أن أحد مقاطعه المصورة قد سُرق وحوّل إلى ميم مضحك شرع في رحلة عبر منصّات الإنترنت بحثًا عن الفاعل.

والفيلم الثاني هو “جميل من الداخل” الفائز بجائزة أفضل فيلم قصير من إنتاج (هولندا/2022) للمخرج روبرت جونان كوييرز.

وسيحظى الجمهور بمتابعة الفيلم الفائز بجائزة محاق،”كناري” من إنتاج (كندا/ 2022) وإخراج بيير هيوج دالير وبينوا ثيريولت ويدور حول يونج سوني الذي لم يكن يحبّ مهنته في التّعدين، ولذلك قام بتدريب طائره على القيام بتمثيل دور الميت حتى يستطيع الحصول على يوم عطلة، ويحكي الفيلم عن قيم الصّدق والنّزاهة والصّداقة.

وسيتم عرض فيلم “ابنة صائد الجوائز” (الفلبين / 2021) للمخرج دون جوزفس رافائيل ابلهان، ويسرد قصة فتاة صغيرة تترك أسرتها في محاولة لتجرب حظها فيما اختارته. فاز الفيلم بجائزة أفضل فيلم قصير في مهرجان صندانس السينمائي.

ومن الأفلام أيضًا، “تجّار الجليد” (البرتغال، إنجلترا، فرنسا / 2022) للمخرج جواو جونزاليس، ويدور حول أبّ وابنه يقفزان مظليًّا على نحو يوميّ، من منزلهما القائم في أعلى جرف مرتفع في الجبال الباردة، وفي يوم من الأيام تبدأ درجة الحرارة في الارتفاع فوق درجة التّجمد، ما يؤدّي إلى عواقب وخيمة على الأسرة. والفيلم بطريقة الرسوم المتحرّكة يلقي الضوء على قضية تغيّر المناخ وآثاره.

إلى ذلك، سيتم إدراج فيلم للمخرجة الجزائرية يحكي قصة طبيبة، بالإضافة إلى فيلم “صراع النّجاة” (ألمانيا، فرنسا، قطر/ 2021) للمخرج أنطوان عنتابي، أُنتج بدعم من مؤسّسة الدّوحة للأفلام، ويتتبع الفيلم مدين الذي يهرب من منزله الذي دمّرته القذائف، على وقع دويّ القصف وأصوات الانفجارات أثناء الحرب، ترافقه حقيبة واحدة بها أغلى ممتلكاته، في رحلة محفوفة بالمخاطر إلى المجهول.

والفيلم الأخير الذي سيتابعه الجمهور هو “نزوح” (كوسوفو/2021) للمخرج سمير قرهودة تدور أحداثه في أعقاب الحرب ، حيث ينتقل لاعبان محليان من مكانٍ مجهول إلى آخر، يحركهما أمل الحفاظ على رياضتهما المفضّلة من النّسيان حاملين معهما طاولات لعبة تنس الطّاولة وهي كلّ ما تبقّى من النّادي.
