Ashghal Completes Logistics City Interchange Works on G-Ring Road

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) completed the Logistics City Interchange Works on G-Ring Road. The interchange consists of two levels and 3 bridges to accommodate approximately 10,000 vehicles per hour.

The Logistics City Interchange, located at the south entrance of G-Ring Road at the Free Zone, southwest of Hamad International Airport before Airport Interchange, will link east and west Free Zone directly to Hamad International Airport, G-Ring Road, and surrounding roads such as Ras Bu Abboud Street, Airport Road, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and Al Wakra Road.

The interchange serves various strategic and vital facilities such as Doha Metro, logistic companies supporting Free Zone and other important public institutions like business innovation park, as it facilitates access to FIFA World Cup 2022 fans village in Ras Bu Fontas as well as areas designated for leisure activities organized during FIFA World Cup 2022 in Ras Bu Fontas.

The importance of the new intersection is further enhanced since it is in a logistic area of a strategic importance, where it will facilitate the transport of goods from Hamad International Airport and Free Zone to all areas both inside and outside Doha, as it is located on G-Ring Road that leads to southern areas, Industrial Area and Al Majd Road, as it also interchanges with Ras Bu Abboud Street to Corniche and Doha Central.

On this occasion, HE Minister of State and the Chairman of Free Zones Authority Board of Directors Ahmad Mohammed Al Sayed extended his thanks to Ashghal for building the junction which will provide a direct link between eastern and western QFZ Ras Bu Fontas and key facilities and roads in Doha and around across Qatar.

His Excellency added: “QFZ has been established to offer for investors a competitive advantage and a stimulating atmosphere for universal businesses and services to enhance operation and capital for firms and Qatars position as a flourishing global market.” HE President of the Public Works Authority Ashghal Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi confirmed that infrastructure projects implemented by Ashghal are ready to serve the guests visiting Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He pointed out that for years, Ashghal has worked diligently on maintaining the works day and night to achieve an integrated infrastructure network with international specifications.

He added, “concerted efforted were made by all entities, including the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Interior represented by the Traffic Department, to achieve road networks, intersections and tunnels implemented by Ashghal with this level of excellence, which will become a legacy beyond the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament that we will continue to be proud of for years.” For his part, Zones Development CEO at QFZ Eng. Ali Al Khalifa stressing that this vital interchange will provide a direct link between Free Zone in Ras Bu Fontas and the connecting roads such as G-Ring Road, Ras Bu Abboud Street, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, and vital facilities such as Hamad International Airport, which will save time and effort to transport various goods belonging to the logistic and investing companies running their operations at QFZ.

In the same context, the Projects Affairs Director Eng. Yousef Al Emadi stressed that Ashghals accomplishments still continue since Ashghal built an integrated network of divers roads and huge junctions to provide largely safe traffic such as the Logistics City Interchange connecting with other major roads and facilities like Hamad International Airport and the Metro.

The Manager of Highway Projects Department Eng. Bader Darwish stressed that the expressway network implemented by Ashghal has achieved a qualitative surge for the traffic across Qatar, pointing that the construction of a new interchange on G-Ring Road mainly serves Free Zone which has no direct connection to G-Ring Road.

For her part, Project Engineer Noora Al Zarraa said: Logistics City Interchange consists of two levels as it includes three bridges and has three to four lanes on each direction, in addition to four exits for the interchange to accommodate approximately 10,000 vehicles per hour.

She added: “Three tunnels were constructed to provide surface water drainage network and treated sewage effluent pipelines for irrigation. In addition to the construction of 2 kilometers service roads on both directions”.

It is worth noting that the Logistics City integrates with G-Ring Road to become the 9th interchange in the vital road that extends on a length of 22 kilometers, as G-Ring Road is one of the integral routes that make up Qatar’s highway network, being a highway that provides continuous traffic flow, it will achieve a significant and positive impact on traffic in the south of Qatar by reducing traffic congestion on existing roads in other areas, thus integrating with the rest of the routes in the highway network such as Al Majd Road, Mesaieed Road, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and Ras Bu Abboud Street.

الدوحة: أكملت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ أعمال تقاطع المدينة اللوجستية الذي يقع على الطريق الدائري السابع ويتكون من مستويين، ويحوي ثلاثة جسور وتصل طاقته الاستيعابية إلى نحو 10 آلاف مركبة في الساعة.

ويقع تقاطع المدينة اللوجستية عند المدخل الجنوبي للطريق الدائري السابع عند المنطقة الحرة براس بوفنطاس جنوب غرب مطار حمد الدولي قبل تقاطع المطار، ما يعمل على ربط المنطقة الحرة الشرقية والغربية ببعضها وبشكل مباشر مع مطار حمد الدولي والطريق الدائري السابع والطرق المحيطة، مثل شارع راس بوعبود وطريق المطار ومحور صباح الأحمد وطريق الوكرة.

ويخدم التقاطع العديد من المرافق الاستراتيجية والمهمة، مثل مترو الدوحة والشركات اللوجستية الداعمة للمنطقة الحرة وغيرها من المؤسسات العامة المهمة، مثل مجمع الأعمال والابتكار، كما يسهل الوصول إلى قرية مشجعي كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 في منطقة راس أبو فنطاس، وكذلك الأماكن المخصصة للنشاطات الترفيهية المنظمة خلال فترة البطولة في المنطقة.

ويزيد من أهمية التقاطع أنه يقع في منطقة لوجستية ذات أهمية إستراتيجية، حيث يسهل حركة السلع والبضائع من مطار حمد الدولي والمنطقة الحرة إلى كافة المناطق، سواء داخل الدوحة أو خارجها، حيث يقع على الطريق الدائري السابع المؤدي إلى المناطق الجنوبية والمنطقة الصناعية وطريق المجد، كما يتقاطع مع شارع راس بوعبود وصولا للكورنيش ووسط الدوحة.

وبهذه المناسبة، أعرب سعادة السيد أحمد بن محمد السيد، وزير الدولة ورئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة المناطق الحرة عن تقديره لما بذلته هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ وفريق تطوير الأعمال بها لتنفيذ تقاطع المنطقة الحرة راس بوفنطاس، مؤكدا أن هذا التقاطع الحيوي سيعمل على توفير ربط مباشر بين الجانبين الشرقي والغربي من المنطقة الحرة راس بوفنطاس والمرافق والطرق الحيوية بالدوحة والمناطق الأخرى الهامة بالدولة.. لافتا إلى أن المناطق الحرة قد صممت بما يقدم للمستثمرين ميزة تنافسية وبيئة محفزة للأعمال وخدمات ذات مستوى عالمي تساهم في تعزيز الأداء التشغيلي والمالي للشركات، وترسيخ مكانة قطر كسوق عالمية مزدهرة.

من جهته، أكد سعادة الدكتور المهندس سعد بن أحمد المهندي، رئيس هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/، أن البنية التحتية التي نفذتها /أشغال/ على أهبة الاستعداد لاستقبال ضيوف قطر خلال فترة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، لافتا إلى أن /أشغال/ على مدار السنوات الماضية لم تدخر جهدا وظلت آلة العمل تدور وتعمل ليل نهار للوصول إلى بنية تحتية عملاقة ذات مواصفات عالمية.

وأضاف أن الجهود تضافرت مع جميع الجهات سواء وزارة المواصلات أو وزارة الداخلية ممثلة بإدارة المرور للوصول إلى هذا المستوى الرائع من الطرق والتقاطعات والأنفاق، التي نفذتها /أشغال/، والتي ستصبح إرثا ممتدا لما بعد كأس العالم نفخر به لسنوات عدة.

بدوره، أكد المهندس علي آل خليفة الرئيس التنفيذي لتطوير المناطق في هيئة المناطق الحرة، أن هذا التقاطع الحيوي سيعمل على توفير ربط مباشر بين المنطقة الحرة في راس بوفنطاس والطرق الرابطة، مثل الدائري السابع وشارع راس بوعبود ومحور صباح الأحمد ومرافق حيوية مثل مطار حمد الدولي، الأمر الذي سيوفر من الوقت والجهد لنقل السلع والبضائع المختلفة الخاصة بالشركات المستثمرة واللوجستية التي تدير عملياتها من المنطقة الحرة.

في الإطار ذاته، أشار المهندس يوسف العمادي، مدير شؤون المشروعات، إلى أن إنجازات /أشغال/ تتواصل، حيث نفذت شبكة متكاملة من الطرق المختلفة وتقاطعات ضخمة توفر سلامة مرورية كبيرة، فضلا عن أهميتها المرورية مثل تقاطع المدينة اللوجستية الذي يتكامل مع طرق رئيسية ومرافق أخرى مهمة، مثل مطار حمد الدولي من جهة والمترو من جهة أخرى.

ومن ناحيته، أكد المهندس بدر درويش، مدير إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة، أن شبكة الطرق السريعة التي أنجزتها الهيئة حققت طفرة نوعية للحركة المرورية في كل أرجاء قطر، منوها إلى أن إنشاء تقاطع جديد على الطريق الدائري السابع يخدم بالأساس المنطقة الحرة والتي ليس لها طريق مباشر يصلها بالطريق الدائري السابع.

في السياق ذاته، قالت نورة الزراع مهندسة المشروع، إن تقاطع المدينة اللوجستية يتكون من مستويين، ويحتوي على ثلاثة جسور يتألف كل منها من ثلاثة إلى أربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه، إلى جانب أربعة مخارج، لتصل الطاقة الاستيعابية للتقاطع إلى نحو 10 آلاف مركبة في الساعة.

وأضافت: أنه تم إنشاء ثلاثة أنفاق لتوفير شبكة لتصريف المياه السطحية، وخطوط للمياه المعالجة لاستخدامها في أغراض الري المختلفة للمسطحات الخضراء المحيطة، إلى جانب توفير شبكة الاتصالات، بالإضافة إلى إنشاء طرق خدمية على جانبي التقاطع بطول نحو كيلومترين.

جدير بالذكر أن تقاطع المدينة اللوجستية يتكامل مع الطريق الدائري السابع ليصبح تاسع تقاطع في الطريق الحيوي الذي يمتد بطول 22 كيلومترا، حيث يمثل الطريق الدائري السابع أحد المحاور الهامة التي تتكون منها شبكة الطرق السريعة في قطر.
