Apple launches 10th-generation iPad, to bring foldable devices in 2024

Capitals: Apple officially launched the 10th-generation iPad, as the company prepares to change the traditional iPhone in 2024.

In terms of measurements, the 10th generation iPad measures 248.6 x 179.5 x 7mm which is slightly slimmer and wider than its predecessor, which measures 250.6 x 174.1 x 7.5mm.

There is a single camera lens on the rear, like the iPad Air and iPad mini, and the USC-C port sits at the bottom, flanked by speakers either side.

According to analysts at CCS Insight, Apple is reportedly planning to bring a foldable iPad by 2024. CCS Insight (via CNBC) published its annual predictions report recently which forecasts about future products and trends. It says Apple will launch a foldable iPad before bringing a foldable iPhone.

In an interview with CNBC, Ben Wood, chief of research at CCS Insight, said “Right now it doesn’t make sense for Apple to make a foldable iPhone. We think they will shun that trend and probably dip a toe in the water with a foldable iPad”. “A folding iPhone will be super high risk for Apple. Firstly, it would have to be incredibly expensive in order to not cannibalize the existing iPhones,” Wood added.

Wood says that seeing the growing trend for foldable devices, Apple has no choice but to adopt the technology. However, if Apple had any technical issues with the foldable phone, then it would be a “feeding frenzy” with critics attacking Apple for the problems. Therefore, it will begin with a foldable iPad.

As per reliable Apple analyst Ross Young, the Cupertino-based company is testing a foldable ‌iPad‌ display that’s around 20-inches in size. However, he expects the device to hit markets by 2026-2027. Exact form factor of the rumoured foldable iPad remains unclear. The company, as per reports, is working with LG to create an ultra-thin cover glass that it may use on its foldable products.

Meanwhile, Apple is gearing up to bring iPad Pro models with M2 chipset today. As per a Twitter post shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may launch the all-new iPad today. Likely to be called Apple M2 iPad Pro, the device will be the first update to the top-end iPad lineup since April 2021, when Apple introduced M1 chipset on both the models with a new 12.-9-inch mini-LED display.

ورجحّت شركة التحليلات CCS Insight أن تطلق شركة آبل حاسوب آيباد بشاشة قابلة للطي خلال عام 2024، وتوقعت أن تبدأ شركة التقنية الأمريكية العملاقة بتجربة الشاشات القابلة للطي قريبًا.

ونشرت CCS Insight تقريرها السنوي للتنبؤات اليوم الثلاثاء، حيث يعمل محللو الشركة على توقعات بشأن المنتجات، والاتجاهات المستقبلية.

وفي أحدث تقرير، توقعت الشركة أن تطلق آبل حاسوب آيباد قابل للطي في غضون عامين بدلًا من إطلاق هاتف آيفون قابل للطي. وبذلك، ستخالف آبل شركات صناعة الهواتف الذكية الأخرى، مثل: سامسونج، التي أطلقت هواتف ذكية قابلة للطي بدلًا من حواسيب لوحية.

وقال بن وود، وهو رئيس الأبحاث لدى CCS Insight، في مقابلة مع شبكة سي إن بي سي CNBC الأمريكية: “في الوقت الحالي، ليس من المنطقي لشركة آبل أن تصنع آيفون قابلًا للطي”. وأضاف: “نعتقد أنهم ستجنبون هذا الاتجاه وربما يختبرون الأمر بإطلاق جهاز آيباد قابل للطي”.

ويعتقد وود أن جهاز آيفون القابل للطي سيكون مخاطرة كبيرة للغاية بالنسبة لشركة آبل، إذ إنه سيكون باهظ الثمن مقارنة بهواتف آيفون الحالية.

وتوقع أن يبلغ سعره نحو 2,500 دولار أمريكي، مقارنةً بأعلى سعر لهاتف آيفون 14 برو ماكس الذي يصل سعره إلى 1,599 دولارًا أمريكيًا.
