‘Halloween Ends’ tops North American box office

Washington: Universal Pictures’ horror film “Halloween Ends” led ticket sales at the North American box office with an estimated three-day cume of 41.25 million U.S. dollars on its opening weekend, showed figures from the measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.
The film is the sequel to 2021’s “Halloween Kills” and the thirteenth film in the Halloween franchise created 44 years ago. It’s also the final film in the trilogy of sequels at Blumhouse Productions that began with the 2018 reboot.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns for the last time as Laurie Strode, horror’s first “final girl.” Curtis has portrayed Laurie for more than four decades now, one of the longest actor-character pairings in cinema history. The film is directed by David Gordon Green who also directed the previous two installments of the franchise.
Overseas, “Halloween Ends” brought in 17.17 million dollars for a global cume of 58.42 million dollars.
The film holds an approval rating of 40 percent based on 156 reviews to date on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. It earned a “C+” on an “A+” to “F” scale from audiences polled by the market research firm CinemaScore.
Paramount’s horror film “Smile” came in second with 12.4 million dollars on its third weekend, pushing its North American total to 76.16 million dollars.
Rounding out the top three, Sony Pictures’ live-action musical comedy “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” generated 7.4 million dollars on its second weekend for a North American total of 22.75 million dollars.

وتراجع ايضا فيلم الكوميديا /لايل لايل كروكودايل/ من المركز الثاني الذي احتله الأسبوع الماضي إلى المركز الثالث هذا الأسبوع، مسجلا 7.4 مليون دولار، الفيلم من بطولة بريت جيلمان وخافيير بارديم وكونستانس وو، وللمخرج جوش جوردون وويل سبيك.
واحتفظ بالمركز الرابع فيلم الدراما التاريخية والاكشن /ذا وومان كينغ/، بإيرادات بلغت 3.7 مليون دولار، الفيلم للمخرج جينا برنس-بيثوود، وبطولة فيولا ديفيس ولاشانا لينش وهيرو فاينيس.
وحل في المركز الخامس فيلم التشويق والكوميديا /أمستردام/ متراجعا مركزين عن الأسبوع الماضي، مسجلا إيرادات بلغت 2.9 مليون دولار، الفيلم من بطولة كريستيان بيل ومارجوت روبي وأنيا تايلور، وللمخرج ديفيد أو. راسل.
