Qatar 2022 Security Committee to Conduct “Watan” Exercise on Sunday

Doha: Under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Head of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and in the framework of reinforcing the security preparedness for hosting the tournament, the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will conduct a five-day exercise ‘Watan’, starting next Sunday, with the participation of the various military and civilian authorities concerned with hosting the tournament, each according to its competence.

The exercise ‘Watan’ aims at enhancing the role of the concerned authorities while carrying out their regular missions and additional tasks during the World Cup to assess the responsiveness in emergencies and enact the mechanisms of command, control and cooperation between military and civil agencies to achieve integration of their roles while accomplishing the missions.

The exercise also aims to enhance close cooperation and the exchange of experiences with the participating sisterly and friendly forces in a manner that ensures the strengthening of joint cooperation for a better implementation of security practices in organizing major sports activities and events.

The security exercise ‘Watan’ is considered as one of the biggest events in terms of the number of participating military and civilian authorities, in addition to the development of its events to combine the military and civil aspects. It also features the diversification of its various scenarios and gradations based on all kinds of potential risks while hosting World Cup. Experts and specialists of different fields participating in the exercise to hold the exercise after conducting studies.

This year’s ‘Watan’ exercise will be comprehensive and diversified compared to the exercise that was conducted in November 2021, due to the widening participation of military and civil authorities, and the participation of security and police forces with specialized tasks from some brotherly and friendly countries, in addition to being held a few days before the start of the tournament, to reflect the extent of preparation and the security and civil readiness of the various authorities in the country.

الدوحة: برعاية معالي الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن عبدالعزيز آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية – رئيس اللجنة الأمنية لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، وفي إطار تأكيد الجاهزية الأمنية والاستعداد الأمثل لاستضافة البطولة، تنظم اللجنة الأمنية لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، تمرين /وطن/ بدءا من يوم الأحد المقبل، وعلى مدى خمسة أيام، بمشاركة مختلف الجهات العسكرية والمدنية المعنية باستضافة البطولة، كل حسب اختصاصه.

ويهدف تمرين /وطن/ لتعزيز دور الجهات المعنية أثناء قيامها بتنفيذ مهامها الاعتيادية والإضافية أثناء بطولة كأس العالم؛ لقياس سرعة الاستجابة للأحداث الطارئة، وتفعيل آلية القيادة والسيطرة والتعاون المشترك بين الجهات العسكرية والمدنية، بما يحقق تكامل الأدوار وتنفيذ المهام المطلوبة، إلى جانب تعزيز التعاون الوثيق وتبادل الخبرات والتجارب مع القوات المشاركة في التمرين من الدول الشقيقة والصديقة، وبما يضمن تعزيز التعاون المشترك لتطبيق أفضل الممارسات الأمنية في تنظيم الأحداث والفعاليات الرياضية الكبرى.

ويعتبر تمرين /وطن/ الأمني هو الأكبر من نوعه، من حيث عدد الجهات العسكرية والمدنية المشاركة فيه، بالإضافة إلى تطور أحداثه ووقائعه التي تجمع بين الشق العسكري والشق المدني، بجانب تنوع وتدرج سيناريوهاته المختلفة المبنية على كافة أنواع المخاطر والتحديات المحتملة في بطولة كأس العالم، وذلك بعد دراستها من قبل المختصين والخبراء في المجالات المشمولة في التمرين.

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن تمرين /وطن/ لهذا العام سيكون شاملا ومتنوعا مقارنة بالتمرين الذي أجري في نوفمبر من عام 2021م، نظرا لاتساع دائرة الجهات العسكرية والمدنية، ومشاركة قوات أمنية وشرطية ذات مهام تخصصية لبعض الدول الشقيقة والصديقة، بالإضافة إلى كونه يقام قبل أيام معدودة من انطلاق البطولة، ليعكس مدى الاستعداد والجاهزية الأمنية والمدنية لجهات الدولة المختلفة.
