Cultural Communities Festival within “Years of Culture” Initiative Kicks off

Doha: The festival of cultural communities kicked off this evening at Flag Plaza near the Museum of Islamic Art Park, as part of the “Years of Culture” initiative that celebrates outstanding cultures in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia this year, during the Year of Culture (Qatar-Middle East, North Africa and South Asia 2022).
A number of embassies accredited to the State are participating in the festival, which runs until October 15, by presenting programs reflecting the cultures of different peoples, ranging from theatrical performances to exhibition panels containing information about different countries.
The first day of the festival of cultural communities was opened with cultural performances from Qatar, Tanzania and Djibouti, accompanied by videos from Qatar, Nigeria, Hungary, Georgia, Ghana and Greece.
Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art and director of the education and community awareness department at the museum Salem Abdullah Al Marri said in a statement to Qatar news agency (QNA) that the festival of communities is being held under the patronage of HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, where flags of 120 countries were raised yesterday during the inauguration of the Flag Plaza, as a number of embassies of countries and diplomatic missions will present their folk folklore for 11 days.
Al-Marri explained that these events coincide with the proximity of Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as being a space for the gathering of cultures of a large number of countries that allows visitors to witness the cultures of multiple countries in one place.
The “Years of Culture” initiative is based on an annual international exchange aimed at deepening understanding between countries and their peoples, and was launched when Qatar won the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, it takes advantage of all opportunities to strengthen relations between peoples, considering that culture is one of the most effective tools to bring peoples closer together, encourage dialogue and deepen understanding between them.
The Year of Culture (Qatar, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) was planned in collaboration with a number of leading institutions in Qatar, including the Doha Film Institute, Education Above All, Katara, the Ministry of Commerce and industry, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Charity, the Qatar Football Association, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Museums, Qatar National Library, the National Tourism Council, the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, with the assistance of the participating countries ‘ embassies in Doha.

الدوحة: انطلق مساء الأمس مهرجان المجتمعات الثقافية في ساحة الأعلام بالقرب من حديقة متحف الفن الإسلامي، ضمن مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية التي تحتفى هذا العام بالثقافات المتميزة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وجنوب آسيا، خلال العام الثقافي /قطر – الشرق الأوسط، وشمال إفريقيا وجنوب آسيا 2022/.
ويشارك في المهرجان الذي يستمر حتى 15 أكتوبر الجاري عدد من السفارات المعتمدة لدى الدولة، من خلال تقديم برامج تعكس ثقافات الشعوب المختلفة، بدءا من العروض المسرحية إلى لوحات عرض تتضمن معلومات عن بلدان مختلفة.
وتم افتتاح اليوم الأول من مهرجان المجتمعات بعروض ثقافية من دول: قطر وتنزانيا وجيبوتي، ورافقت هذه العروض مقاطع فيديو من قطر ونيجيريا والمجر وجورجيا وغانا واليونان.
وقال السيد سالم عبدالله المري نائب مدير متحف الفن الإسلامي ومدير إدارة التعليم وتوعية المجتمع بالمتحف، في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء القطرية /قنا/: إن /مهرجان المجتمعات/ يقام تحت رعاية سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد آل ثاني رئيس مجلس أمناء متاحف قطر، حيث تم أمس رفع أعلام 120 دولة أثناء تدشين ساحة الأعلام؛ إذ ستقدم عدد من سفارات الدول والبعثات الدبلوماسية فلكلورها الشعبي على مدى 11 يوما”.
وأوضح المري أن هذه الفعاليات تتزامن مع قرب استضافة دولة قطر نهائيات بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، فضلا عن كونه فضاء لتجمع ثقافات عدد كبير من الدول يتيح للزوار مشاهدة ثقافات بلدان متعددة في مكان واحد.
جدير بالذكر أن مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية تقوم على تبادل دولي سنوي، يهدف إلى تعميق التفاهم بين الدول وشعوبها، وقد تم إطلاقها عندما فازت قطر باستضافة بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022.
وتغتنم مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية جميع الفرص لتوطيد العلاقات بين الشعوب، باعتبار أن الثقافة هي واحدة من أكثر الأدوات فاعلية للتقريب بين الشعوب، وتشجيع الحوار وتعميق التفاهم بينها.
وتم التخطيط للعام الثقافي /قطر – الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وجنوب آسيا 2022/ بالتعاون مع عدد من المؤسسات الرائدة في قطر، بما فيها مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، والتعليم فوق الجميع، والمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي /كتارا/، ووزارة التجارة والصناعة، ووزارة الثقافة، ووزارة الخارجية، وقطر الخيرية، والاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم، ومؤسسة قطر، ومتاحف قطر، ومكتبة قطر الوطنية، والمجلس الوطني للسياحة، واللجنة الأولمبية القطرية، واللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، بمساعدة سفارات الدول المشاركة لدى الدوحة.
