QatarEnergy Will Be Largest LNG Company Within 10 Years

London: HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi underlined that QatarEnergy will be the largest LNG trader in the world within five to ten years.

This came in a speech by the Minister of State for Energy Affairs at the London Energy Intelligence forum which is currently being held in the British capital, in which he explained that QatarEnergy is selling about five to ten million tons of LNG, adding that the company will become the world’s largest LNG trader over the next 5-10 years.

HE Eng. Al Kaabi stated that huge quantities of Qatar’s gas production will be sent to Europe in the coming period, noting that QatarEnergy has adopted a successful partnership model that put it in its current position and proved that it can do this task alone. QatarEnergy does its business on a fully commercial basis and is no longer a governmental company, he explained.

His Excellency also expected that energy prices in general will remain high in the foreseeable future, without reaching their peak soon, not even in the next 20-30 years.

HE Eng. Al Kaabi attributed the reason for the energy crisis in Europe to the goals that it set for itself by reducing net carbon emissions in it to zero, as well as adopting the idea that renewable energy sources can replace natural gas, noting that this is the reason why Europeans pay unreasonable prices for energy, adding that gas is not a transitional fuel, but a final destination.

HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi received the 2022 “Energy Executive of the Year” award, which was presented to him by Energy Intelligence.

HE Minister Al Kaabi paid special tribute to the leadership of HH the Amir, saying: “I want to seize this opportunity to offer ample thanks and gratitude to HE the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for his unlimited support to the energy sector and to me personally.” HE Minister Al Kaabi also paid tribute to the efforts of HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of QatarEnergy, and to his continuous guidance and support.

His Excellency said, “This is an honor that I share with generations of Qataris and expatriates from all over the world, who challenged the elements and the hardships of this industry, and who worked with dedication and commitment, day and night, putting QatarEnergy and the State of Qatar firmly on the global energy map. This includes all our partners and every single member of every component of the widest spectrum of Qatar’s Energy Sector.” HE Minister Al Kaabi was elected earlier in the year by the leaders of the world’s top energy companies on the Energy Intelligence Top 100 rankings, making him the 26th winner of this prestigious award.

The selection process for the Energy Executive of the Year award – formerly known as the Petroleum Executive of the Year award – is administered by Energy Intelligence. The group gathers nominations from the heads of the world’s 100 largest oil and gas companies and stakeholders, as determined by the annual Energy Intelligence Top 100 rankings. Winners are chosen by a vote of the selection committee, comprised of previous award winners and senior industry executives.

لندن: أكد سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريدة الكعبي وزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة، والعضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لقطر للطاقة، أن الشركة ستكون أكبر شركة لديها نشاط في تجارة الغاز المسال على مستوى العالم في غضون خمس إلى عشر سنوات.

جاء ذلك في كلمة لوزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة أمام منتدى لندن انيرجي انتليجنس المنعقد حاليا في العاصمة البريطانية، أوضح فيها، أن قطر للطاقة تبيع حاليا نحو خمسة إلى عشرة ملايين طن من الغاز الطبيعي المسال، وأن “الشركة ستتصدر في غضون خمس إلى عشر سنوات بفارق كبير مبيعات الغاز الطبيعي المسال، ويشمل هذا كميات الغاز الخاصة بنا وعبر أطراف ثالثة”.

وذكر المهندس الكعبي أن كميات هائلة من إنتاج قطر من الغاز سيتم إرسالها إلى أوروبا في الفترة المقبلة، مبينا أن شركة قطر للطاقة تبنت نموذج شراكة ناجحا “جعلنا في المكانة التي نحتلها الآن وأثبت أنه بإمكاننا أن نقوم بتلك المهمة وحدنا”.. مشددا على أن شركة قطر للطاقة تقوم بأعمالها “على أساس تجاري كامل ولم تعد شركة حكومية”.

كما توقع سعادته أن تبقى أسعار الطاقة بشكل عام مرتفعة في المستقبل المنظور، دون أن تبلغ ذروتها قريبا، ولا حتى في العشرين إلى الثلاثين سنة المقبلة.

وأعاد المهندس الكعبي السبب وراء أزمة الطاقة في أوروبا إلى الأهداف التي حددتها لنفسها بخفض صافي انبعاثات الكربون فيها إلى الصفر، وكذلك اعتماد فكرة أن مصادر الطاقة المتجددة يمكنها أن تحل محل الغاز الطبيعي، مبينا: “هذا هو السبب وراء دفع الأوروبيين أسعارا غير معقولة ثمنا للطاقة.. فالغاز ليس وقودا انتقاليا، بل هو وجهة نهائية”.

وفي السياق ذاته، تسلم سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريدة الكعبي، جائزة شخصية العام التنفيذية في قطاع الطاقة لعام 2022 التي قدمتها مؤسسة إنيرجي إنتليجنس البريطانية ؛ وفي تعليق له على ذلك التكريم قال: “أود أن أغتنم هذه الفرصة لأقدم جزيل الشكر والامتنان لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله” لدعمه اللامحدود لقطاع الطاقة ولي شخصيا”.

كما أشاد بجهود سمو الشيخ عبدالله بن حمد آل ثاني نائب الأمير ورئيس مجلس إدارة قطر للطاقة، وبتوجيهاته ودعمه المستمرين، قائلا: “هذا شرف أتشارك به مع أجيال من القطريين والمقيمين من جميع أنحاء العالم، تحدوا عناصر الطبيعة ومصاعب هذه الصناعة، وعملوا بإخلاص والتزام، ليلا ونهارا، ووضعوا قطر للطاقة ودولة قطر بقوة على خارطة الطاقة العالمية. وهذا يشمل جميع شركائنا وكل عضو في كل مكون من أوسع أطياف قطاع الطاقة في قطر”.

وكانت مؤسسة إنيرجي إنتليجنس العالمية المتخصصة بمعلومات الطاقة، قد أعلنت في وقت سابق من العام الجاري اختيار سعادة الوزير الكعبي من قبل قادة أكبر شركات الطاقة في العالم المصنفة على قائمتها لأكبر 100 شركة طاقة، ليصبح الشخصية السادسة والعشرين التي تفوز بهذه الجائزة المرموقة.

وقد تسلم سعادة الوزير الجائزة خلال حفل خاص أقيم على هامش منتدى إنرجي إنتليجنس السنوي في لندن.

يذكر أن عملية اختيار الفائز بجائزة شخصية العام التنفيذية في قطاع الطاقة -التي كانت تعرف سابقا باسم جائزة شخصية العام التنفيذية في قطاع النفط – تتم عبر ترشيحات رؤساء أكبر 100 شركة للنفط والغاز في العالم، والجهات المعنية بالصناعة، بحسب تصنيفات قائمة إنرجي إنتليجنس لأكبر مئة شركة “Energy Intelligence Top 100”. ويتم اختيار الفائزين بتصويت من لجنة الاختيار المؤلفة من الفائزين السابقين بالجائزة وكبار الرؤساء التنفيذيين في الصناعة.
