Dhow Boat Docks Project Completed

Doha: The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar announced the completion of the Dhow Boat Docks project works in three locations at Al Corniche; the first is near Al Bidda pedestrian path, the second is near Dafna pedestrian path, whereas the third is near Sheraton Park, and this is in cooperation with Qatar Tourism.

This was developed in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and in cooperation with Qatar Tourism, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Municipality, and Private Engineering Office.

On this occasion, Deputy Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar Eng. Sara Kafood said: “since the establishment of the committee, we have been keen to play a pivotal role in the contribution of supporting the successful hosting of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in cooperation with various organizations in the country, as the committee is keen, through its projects to highlight Qatars distinctive identity to the visitors, in order to provide an opportunity for everyone to explore a new culture, especially since it is the first edition of the tournament in the Middle East and Arab World, and for these projects to manifest into vibrant community centers through which we can leave a sustainable legacy for future generations as it is the ultimate goal of the tournament.”

“Dhow Boat Docks project is in line with the development process witnessed by Al Corniche project and the major advancements in infrastructure projects in various fields in Qatar, in preparation to host a unique edition of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and welcoming guests from across the world, for the region to completely transform into a more interactive and attractive destination for its comers, especially since Al Corniche is one of the major tourist and vital features in Qatar,” she added.

For her part, Head of Tourism Product Support Section at Qatar Tourism Maryam Saoud said: “Qatar Tourism is working towards establishing Qatar as a world-class destination and welcoming more than six million visitors a year by 2030. As one of the worlds fastest-growing tourism destinations, it is imperative that we continue developing and enhancing the tourism experience.” Project Design Engineer Eng. Maryam Al Kuwari meanwhile said that “dhow boats are facades of the country’s civilization and heritage, and they enable visitors to explore Doha through the waterfront.

Therefore, the docks were implemented in a simplified way based on the uniformity and consistency of the used materials to Al Corniche underpasses plazas, as sustainable materials that withstand climate conditions were used whether on water or land. Taking into consideration the highest quality and safety standards, as the second and third locations include a drainage network, a low voltage electricity network as well as potable water network.” She added that the docks provide safe and suitable corridors that can be used by all age groups, considering people with special needs to whom the committee attaches great importance in all its projects, by providing facilities that help them integrate them in the community.

“This is an alternative to the typical corridors that are currently used and distort the general view of Al Corniche, especially in light of the increase in the number of visitors witnessed by the country with the preparation for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. A unified design has been adopted in the three docks considering the possibility of expanding the docks and increasing parking spaces numbers in each marine in the future,” she added.

الدوحة: أعلنت لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة عن اكتمال أعمال مشروع إنشاء مراسي القوارب السياحية على الكورنيش في ثلاثة مواقع؛ الأول بالقرب من نفق مشاة البدع، والثاني بالقرب من نفق مشاة الدفنة، والثالث بالقرب من حديقة الشيراتون، وذلك استعدادا لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، وبالتعاون مع قطر للسياحة ووزارات البيئة والتغير المناخي والمواصلات والبلدية والمكتب الهندسي الخاص.

وبهذه المناسبة، أكدت المهندسة سارة كافود، نائب رئيس لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة، حرص اللجنة على المساهمة في دعم استضافة ناجحة لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، وذلك بالتعاون مع مؤسسات الدولة المختلفة. وكذلك إبراز هوية قطر المميزة أمام زوار الدولة لإتاحة الفرصة للجميع لاستكشاف ثقافة جديدة، خاصة أنها النسخة الأولى من البطولة في الشرق الأوسط والعالمين العربي والإسلامي.

وأضافت أن مشروع إنشاء مراسي القوارب السياحية يتلاءم مع عملية التطوير التي يشهدها مشروع الكورنيش، والتقدم الكبير في مشاريع البنية التحتية في الدولة؛ استعدادا لاستضافة نسخة مميزة من بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، خاصة أن الكورنيش يعد أحد أهم المعالم السياحية والحيوية في الدولة.

من جانبها، قالت مريم سعود رئيس قسم دعم المنتج السياحي في /قطر للسياحة/: “تعمل قطر للسياحة على جعل قطر وجهة عالمية المستوى، وتستقبل أكثر من ستة ملايين زائر سنويا بحلول عام 2030، وباعتبارها إحدى الوجهات السياحية الأسرع نموا في العالم، فمن الضروري أن نواصل تطوير وتعزيز التجربة السياحية، مضيفة أن تنفيذ المشروع قبل استضافة بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 في غاية الأهمية؛ حرصا على تقديم أعلى مستوى من الخدمة للزوار.

بدورها، أوضحت المهندسة مريم الكواري، مدير تصميم المشروع بلجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة، أن القوارب السياحية واجهة من الواجهات الحضارية والتراثية للدولة، وتمكن الزائرون من استكشاف الدوحة وواجهتها البحرية؛ لذلك تم تنفيذ المراسي بطريقة مبسطة تعتمد على توحيد وتناسق المواد المستخدمة فيها مع ساحات أنفاق الكورنيش، حيث تم استخدام مواد مستدامة تتحمل الظروف المناخية سواء كانت في الماء أم على اليابسة، مع مراعاة أعلى مقاييس الجودة والسلامة، حيث يشتمل الموقعان الثاني والثالث على شبكة للصرف الصحي وشبكة كهرباء ذات جهد منخفض، ويشتمل الموقع الثالث على شبكة لمياه الشرب.

وأضافت أن المراسي توفر ممرات ملائمة وآمنة للاستخدام من قبل جميع الفئات العمرية، تساهم في تسهيل صعودهم على القوارب مع الأخذ بعين الاعتبار ذوي الإعاقة، الذين توليهم اللجنة أهمية كبيرة في كافة مشروعاتها من خلال توفير مرافق تساعدهم على الاندماج في المجتمع، وقد تم اعتماد تصميم موحد في المراسي الثلاثة مع الأخذ بعين الاعتبار إمكانية توسعة المراسي، وزيادة عدد المواقف في كل مرسى مستقبلا.
