Abu Samra border crossing can handle 4,000 passengers per hour during World Cup

Doha: To ensure smooth entry procedures for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans traveling by road, the capacity of Abu Samra border crossing has been increased to 4,000 travelers per hour.
Yousuf Ahmed Al Hammadi, Assistant Director of Land Customs Department at General Authority of Customs (GAC), said two new facilities for entry and exit covering 5,000 sqm each, have been built at the Abu Samra check-post. He was speaking to Al Rayan TV,
“Expecting a huge number of fans by road during the mega sporting event, the General Authority of Customs has expanded Abu Samra check-post facilities and installed the most advanced equipment to speed up the entry process of travelers.
“Each facility has 22 counters for the procedures required by the passport office in addition to screening equipment for customs inspection and entry points for fans,” said Al Hammadi.
He said the most advanced equipment has been installed to speed up the procedures related to the passport office and customs inspection.
According to Al Hammadi, the check-post’s capacity has reached 2,000 fans per hour.
In case of an increase in the number of travelers, he said both facilities could be turned into one for entry or exit as per the need — increasing the capacity to 4,000 travelers per hour at a time.
He said the facilities have been designed to ease entry-only or exit-only at a time to address the growing number of travelers going to enjoy the FIFA World Cup matches or those returning to their homes.
Speaking about the existing counters that are serving travelers in vehicles at Abu Samra check-post, Al Hammadi said these counters will keep serving as usual during the World Cup.
To a question about fans traveling through Abu Samra check-post, Al Hammadi said, “We are expecting a huge number of fans from GCC countries during the mega sporting event.”
The GAC, under its strategic plan, seeks to raise the efficiency of goods flow as well as the provision of customs services.
In addition, it strives to ensure the provision of vital projects’ requirements and access to an environment that would be attractive for investment, fulfill the interests of customers and partners and promote the role of the private sector as a strategic partner in economic development.

الدوحة: لضمان إجراءات دخول سلسة لمشجعي كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 الذين يسافرون براً، تمت زيادة سعة معبر أبو سمرة الحدودي إلى 4000 مسافر في الساعة.
حيث قال مساعد مدير إدارة الجمارك البرية بالهيئة العامة للجمارك، يوسف أحمد الحمادي، في حديثه لقناة الريان إنه تم بناء منشأتين جديدتين للدخول والخروج تغطي مساحة 5000 متر مربع لكل منهما في نقطة التفتيش في أبو سمرة.
وبتوقع وصول عدد هائل من المشجعين عبر البر خلال الحدث الرياضي الضخم، وقد قامت الهيئة العامة للجمارك بتوسيع مرافق نقطة تفتيش أبو سمرة وتركيب أحدث المعدات لتسريع عملية دخول المسافرين.
وأوضح الحمادي أن “كل منشأة بها 22 كاونتر للإجراءات المطلوبة من قبل مكتب الجوازات بالإضافة إلى أجهزة الفحص والتفتيش الجمركي ونقاط دخول المشجعين”.
وقال إنه تم تركيب أحدث المعدات لتسريع الإجراءات المتعلقة بمكتب الجوازات والتفتيش الجمركي.
وبحسب الحمادي، فإن سعة نقطة التفتيش قد وصلت إلى 2000 مشجع في الساعة.
في حالة زيادة عدد المسافرين، قال إنه يمكن تحويل كلا المرفقين إلى واحد للدخول أو الخروج حسب الحاجة – زيادة السعة إلى 4000 مسافر في الساعة في المرة الواحدة.
وقال إن المرافق صُممت لتسهيل الدخول فقط أو الخروج فقط في وقت للتعامل مع العدد المتزايد من المسافرين القادمين للاستمتاع بمباريات كأس العالم لكرة القدم أو أولئك العائدين إلى منازلهم.
وفي حديثه عن العدادات الحالية التي تخدم المسافرين في المركبات في نقطة تفتيش أبو سمرة، قال الحمادي إن هذه العدادات ستظل تعمل كالمعتاد خلال كأس العالم.
ورداً على سؤال حول سفر المشجعين عبر نقطة تفتيش أبو سمرة، قال الحمادي: “نتوقع عدداً كبيراً من المشجعين من دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي خلال الحدث الرياضي الضخم”.
تسعى الهيئة العامة للجمارك، في إطار خطتها الاستراتيجية، إلى رفع كفاءة تدفق البضائع بالإضافة إلى توفير الخدمات الجمركية.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فهي تسعى جاهدة لضمان توفير متطلبات المشاريع الحيوية والوصول إلى بيئة من شأنها أن تكون جذابة للاستثمار وتلبية مصالح العملاء والشركاء وتعزيز دور القطاع الخاص كشريك استراتيجي في التنمية الاقتصادية.
