Qatar receives 613,000 tourists in the first quarter

Doha: The Government Communications Office said yesterday, via a tweet on its Twitter page, that the tourism sector witnessed a steady growth after easing travel restrictions, according to the latest quarterly report issued by Qatar Tourism. In a statement, the office indicated that the number of arrivals to Qatar jumped in the first quarter of 2022 to record 613,000 visitors, compared to 64,000 visitors in the comparable quarter of 2021.

According to statistics issued by the Qatar Central Bank, the state’s revenues from the tourism sector amounted to 4.473 billion QR in the first quarter of this year, a growth of 33.88% from 3.341 billion QR its level in the corresponding quarter of last year. Qatar’s preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 are on-going, and the tournament is scheduled to start on November 20 and end on December 18.

The Government Communications Office in the State of Qatar attributed the strong recovery of the tourism sector to the easing of travel restrictions after the significant decrease in Coronavirus cases in the country.

It said that the tourism sector witnessed a strong recovery during the first quarter of 2022, and the hotel sector in Qatar showed great resilience, as revenues jumped by 7% from pre-Coronavirus pandemic levels. The office expected that the tourism sector would witness an unprecedented boom in light of Qatar’s readiness to receive fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar in the last quarter of 2022.

الدوحة: قال مكتب الاتصال الحكومي، امس، عبر تغريدة له على صفحته في تويتر، إن قطاع السياحة شهد تنامياً مطّرداً بعد تخفيف القيود المفروضة على السفر بحسب التقرير الربعي الأخير الصادر عن قطر للسياحة. وأشار المكتب في بيان، إلى إن أعداد الوافدين إلى قطر قفز في الربع الأول من 2022 ليسجل 613 ألف زائر، مقارنة بـ64 ألف زائر في الربع المقارن من 2021.

وبحسب إحصائية صادرة عن مصرف قطر المركزي، بلغت إيرادات الدولة من قطاع السياحة فقد بلغت في الربع الأول من العام الحالي 4.473 مليار ريال، بنمو 33.88% عن 3.341 مليار ريال مستواها في الربع المناظر من العام الماضي. وتتواصل استعدادات دولة قطر لاستضافة بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم FIFA قطر 2022، ومن المقرر أن تنطلق البطولة يوم 20 نوفمبر المقبل، وتنتهي في 18 من شهر ديسمبر المقبل.
