QU Unveils Awtar Musical Contest to Discover Artistic Talents among Students

Doha: Qatar University (QU) has launched “Awtar 2022” contest with its first edition, in collaboration with Music Affairs Center of the Ministry of Culture, with the objective of enriching the cultural aspect, developing students’ musical sense and exploring and upgrading their artistic talents.

Organizers of the event clarified, during a press conference held today to announce the contest details, that the contests between the applicants would be held in stringed musical instruments of Oud and Piano during Aug. 22, 2022 to Oct. 3, 2022.

Director of Student Activities Department at QU Abdullah Hamed Al Mulla said that the contest is dedicated to students of QU from those who are talented in playing Piano and Oud Lute, pointing out that the contest launch comes within the framework of the student life strategy in supporting the students talents in their university life, indicating that the contest, in its first edition, is considered a promising opportunity for students in the university campus to further bolster their artistic talents and musical innovations, empowering their talents at the private level and demonstrate them at the national and regional levels.

He added that QU seeks to discover the professional musical and artistic talents through these contests specially via using Piano and Oud in the university campus, as the two musical instruments are the most ancient musical instruments, and Oud instrument stems from the Arab culture and traditions and has been interconnected with the Arab culture since long time ago, while Piano has played the role of Ambassador among various peoples and cultures.

He anticipated that such contests would further discover musical and artistic talents among the university students, noting that he aspires to explore these talents among students and further refine their musical talents, in addition to encouraging them to uphold the participatory environment and promoting the spirit of innovation to significantly contribute in the field of musical and artistic production.

For his part, Director of the Center for Music Affairs Khaled Al Salem said that the “Awtar” competition, which is launched today in joint cooperation between the center and student activities at the university, comes as part of a series of cooperation and within plans that comprise many ideas on the agenda of future activities between the two parties. He pointed out that the center’s role in this competition is to provide technical support, set criteria for selecting and evaluating applicants, as well as providing a jury of academic musicians with a long history in the music field at the local, Gulf and even the Arab levels, and providing specialized trainers in the field of oud and piano education.

He said the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Center for Music Affairs, prioritizes such contests, as they are among the key objectives that the center seeks to achieve and work on, as will enrich the musical movement in the state of Qatar, and link music lovers and amateurs with the center to have a fixed headquarters in The future, in addition to discovering young talents in various fields of music, specifically playing, as well as promoting musical culture.” Head of the Department of Culture and Arts at QU Buthaina Al Janahi explained that the contest intends to discover and refine students’ skills, in addition to encouraging students to actively participate in production of the artistic and musical fields, and to solidify national identity, pointing out that the contest will comprise 3 stages; the first one entails the attraction of talents as much as possible, while the second stage entails the stage of judging and training participants, and the third is announcing the winners.

الدوحة: أطلقت جامعة قطر مسابقة “أوتار 2022” بنسختها الأولى، بالتعاون مع مركز شؤون الموسيقى التابع لوزارة الثقافة؛ وذلك بهدف إثراء الجانب الثقافي، وتنمية الحس الموسيقي لدى الطلبة، واكتشاف مواهبهم الفنية وتنميتها.

وأوضح المنظمون، خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقد اليوم للإعلان عن تفاصيل المسابقة، أن المنافسات بين المتقدمين ستعقد في الآلتين الوتريتين العود والبيانو، وذلك في الفترة بين 22 أغسطس و3 أكتوبر المقبل.

وقال عبدالله حامد الملا مدير إدارة الأنشطة الطلابية بجامعة قطر: إن هذه المسابقة مخصصة لطلاب الجامعة من الموهوبين في العزف على آلتي العود أو البيانو، مشيرا إلى أن إطلاق المسابقة يأتي في إطار استراتيجية الحياة الطلابية في دعم المواهب اللاصفية في الحياة الجامعية.

واعتبر أن هذه المسابقة، بنسختها الأولى، تعد فرصة واعدة للطلاب في الحرم الجامعي لتعزيز مواهبهم الفنية وإبداعاتهم الموسيقية، وتمكينها على المستوى الشخصي، وإبرازها على المستوى الوطني والإقليمي، مضيفا: “نسعى من خلال هذه المسابقة إلى اكتشاف المواهب الفنية الموسيقية المتخصصة بآلتي العود والبيانو في الجامعة، حيث تعتبر الآلتان من أقدم الآلات الموسيقية؛ فالعود يعتبر من الثقافة والتقاليد العربية وارتبط بثقافتها منذ القدم، أما البيانو فلعب دور السفير بين مختلف الشعوب والثقافات”.

وتوقع الملا أن تكشف هذه المسابقة عن مواهب فنية موسيقية بين طلبة الجامعة، لافتا إلى تطلعه إلى اكتشاف هذه المواهب بين الطلبة، والعمل على صقل مهاراتهم الموسيقية، وتشجيعهم على بيئة المشاركة وتعزيز روح الإبداع، للمساهمة بشكل كبير في مجال الإنتاج الفني والموسيقي.

ومن جانبه، ذكر خالد السالم، مدير مركز شؤون الموسيقى بوزارة الثقافة، أن مسابقة “أوتار”، التي تنطلق اليوم بالتعاون المشترك بين المركز والأنشطة الطلابية في الجامعة، تأتي ضمن سلسلة من التعاون وضمن خطط تحوي العديد من الأفكار المدرجة على أجندة النشاطات المقبلة بين الطرفين، مشيرا إلى أن دور المركز في هذه المسابقة يتمثل في تقديم الدعم الفني، ووضع معايير اختيار الطلبة المتقدمين وتقييمهم، وكذلك توفير لجنة التحكيم من موسيقيين أكاديميين لهم باع طويل في المجال الموسيقي على المستوى المحلي والخليجي بل والعربي، وتوفير المدربين المختصين في مجال تعليم العود والبيانو، وهم أيضا أكاديميون معتمدون داخل الدولة.

وقال: “إن وزارة الثقافة، ممثلة في مركز شؤون الموسيقى، تولي اهتماما كبيرا بمثل هذه المسابقات، كونها ضمن الأهداف الرئيسية التي يسعى المركز لتحقيقها والعمل عليها، إضافة إلى أنها ستثري الحركة الموسيقية في الدولة، وتربط محبي الموسيقى والهواة بالمركز ليكون لهم مقرا ثابتا في المستقبل، إلى جانب اكتشاف مواهب شابة في مختلف مجالات الموسيقى، وتحديدا العزف، وكذلك تعزيز الثقافة الموسيقية”.

وبدورها، أوضحت بثينة الجناحي، رئيس قسم الثقافة والفنون بالجامعة، أن المسابقة تهدف إلى اكتشاف مهارات الطلاب وصقلها، إضافة إلى تشجيع الطلبة على المشاركة الفعالة في الإنتاج بالمجال الفني والموسيقي، وتعزيز الهوية الوطنية، لافتة إلى أنها ستشمل 3 مراحل؛ تتمثل الأولى في استقطاب المواهب بقدر المستطاع، بينما تشمل المرحلة الثانية مرحلة التحكيم وتدريب المشاركين، والثالثة الإعلان عن الفائزين.

كما أوضحت أن الجوائز ستمنح من قبل لجنة شؤون الموسيقى والتي تتضمن الدعم الفني والموسيقي، بالإضافة إلى مشاركة أحد الفائزين بالمركز الأول في حفل الشعوب السنوي التي يقيمه مركز شؤون الموسيقى.

إلى ذلك، أوضح الفنان ناصر سهيم، عضو لجنة التحكيم ونائب المدير التنفيذي لأوركسترا قطر، أن هناك معايير خاصة لكل من يريد أن يتقدم لمسابقة العود والبيانو؛ لأن لكل آلة خصائصها، مبينا أنه تم وضع معايير لكل منهما، بناء عليها يتم تقييم كل متسابق، ويحق للمتسابق أن يشارك في مسابقة العود والبيانو، بينما لن يقبل من أي متقدم المشاركة بأكثر من فيديو للآلة الواحدة.
