Doha: Lexus International has recently announced a call for entries for its distinguished Lexus Design Award 2023, an international design competition dedicated to empowering and encouraging the next generation of creators. Inaugurated in 2013, the award has given up-and-coming talents and innovators a global platform for exposure, discovery, and launch of countless impressive careers.

As the award continues to evolve, Lexus is aiming to enrich its platform for next-generation design talents by more broadly focusing on the creative growth of the individual. To achieve this goal, it embraces a new, streamlined form where four winners are now chosen to allow us to dive deeper into each winner’s story, while also fostering rich dialogue amongst them and the industry luminaries who serve as members of the jury. Mentorship remains core to the award, with winners being mentored by leading lights of the design world.

Lexus is seeking innovative ideas that contribute to a thriving and prosperous future for all through the power of design and technology. Applicants will explain how their creative concept puts into practice the Lexus brand’s three key principles: Anticipate, Innovate and Captivate. The design must anticipate global challenges to societies, envision inventive ways to reach a sustainable future, and seamlessly enhance the happiness of all. Lexus seeks engaging, insightful, and original designs that honor both form and function while offering actionable solutions to hasten the arrival of a brighter future for humanity in a variety of scenarios and situations.

Kei Fujita, Chief Representative, Middle East and Central Asia Representative ‎Office at Toyota Motor Corporation said: “We are extremely excited to launch the 11th edition of the Lexus Design Award. We aim, through this international competition which is being held this year under the theme ‘Design for a Better Tomorrow,’ to support the next generation of designers and creators. The Lexus Design Award offers them a platform to explore their creativity, develop their unique design concepts through expert guidance and mentorship, and showcase their innovations to the world”.

Fujita added: “We look forward to revealing this year’s winners and seeing what they will present. I want to thank everyone involved in the Lexus Design Award for contributing to this valuable platform, as well as our loyal customers, whose continuous support inspires us all to reach beyond the conventional and create amazing experiences”.

A judging committee of elite, internationally recognised design experts will select four winners from among the entries based on the judging criteria. Winners will be mentored by leading creators in diverse design disciplines. Each winner will be allocated a research and development budget of up to JPY 3 million (over $22,500), as a design grant to cover not only prototype construction but also other relevant expenses involved in refining their concept and design and supporting the individual’s creative development. This once-in-a-lifetime mentoring experience is at the heart of the Lexus Design Award’s reputation for excellence. In the spring of 2023, the four winners will reveal their progress to judges and mentors by presenting their finished work for review.

After revealing their work, the award winners will have the priceless opportunity to consult one-on-one with the judging panel. In addition to receiving feedback on their work, the winners will get to share their visions and receive guidance on the career paths and aspirational goals that would best further their future creative success.

الدوحة: أعلنت علامة لكزس الفاخرة مؤخرًا إطلاق “جائزة لكزس للتصميم” للعام 2023، ودَعَت المواهب الواعدة للمشاركة في هذه المسابقة الدولية، التي تهدف إلى رعاية الجيل الجديد من المبدعين والمصممين ودعمهم، والتي شكّلت منذ انطلاقتها الأولى عام 2013 منصةً عالميةً للمواهب والمبتكرين، تُمكنهم من اكتشاف قُدراتهم وعرضِ إبداعاتهم على الساحة العالمية؛ لتمهيد الطريق نحو مستقبلٍ أفضل. وسيكون آخر موعد لتلقي المشاركات في مسابقة “جائزة لكزس للتصميم” للعام 2023 في تاريخ 16 تشرين الأول 2022.

ومع التطور المستمر الذي تشهده “جائزة لكزس للتصميم” للعام الحادي عشر على التوالي، تهدف شركة لكزس إلى إثراء هذه المنصة من أجل صقل مهارات الجيل الجديد من المصممين؛ من خلال التركيز على تعزيز تنمية قدراتهم الإبداعية. وللوصول إلى هذه الغاية، تَتَّبع علامة لكزس الفاخرة خطوات جديدة ومبسّطة؛ إذ ستختار لجنة التحكيم أربعة فائزين، وتتعمق في قصصهم، وتتيح لهم إجراء حوارات مهنية ثرية مع أعضائها، الذين يُعدّون من الشخصيات العالمية البارزة في مجال التصميم. ويُعَدُّ التوجيه والإرشاد من أبرز سمات هذه المسابقة، التي ستُتيح للفائزين إمكانية الاستفادة من النصائح والتوجيهات والجلسات التفاعلية مع نخبة من رُوَّاد عالم التصميم.

تُواصل علامة لكزس الفاخرة بحثها المستمر عن أفكار مبتكرة تُسهِم في صناعة مستقبلٍ مزدهرٍ للجميع؛ من خلال المزج بين قوة التصميم والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة. وينبغي للمشاركين في “جائزة لكزس للتصميم” لهذا العام شرح كيفية دمج أفكارهم الإبداعية مع المبادئ الأساسية الثلاثة لعلامة لكزس الفاخرة المتمثّلة في “التوقع”، و”الابتكار”، و”التأثير”. ويُشتَرَط في التصاميم أن تكون قادرة على توقع التحديات العالمية التي ستُواجهها المجتمعات، وأن تطرح أفكارًا وطرقًا مبتكرةً لمستقبل مستدام، وأن تكون قادرة على تحقيق السعادة للجميع عبر تصاميم جذابة ومبتكرة تراعي الشكل والمضمون، وأن تقدم حلولًا قابلةً للتنفيذ لضمان مستقبلٍ أكثرَ إشراقًا للبشرية في مختلف الاحتمالات والمواقف.

وحول ذلك، علّق كي فوجيتا؛ الممثل الرئيس للمكتب التمثيلي لشركة تويوتا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وآسيا الوسطى، قائلًا: “نحن سعداء للغاية بإطلاق النسخة الحادية عشرة من “جائزة لكزس للتصميم”؛ إذ نسعى من خلال هذه المسابقة العالمية، التي تُنظَّم هذا العام تحت شعار “التصميم نحو غدٍ أفضل”، إلى دعم جيل المستقبل من المصممين والمبدعين، وذلك عن طريق توفير منصة لاكتشاف مواهبهم الإبداعية وتطوير أفكارهم التصميمية المُبتكَرة. وتشمل هذه الجائزة أيضًا برنامجًا إرشاديًا فريدًا يتيح للفائزين فرصة استثنائية للعمل بشكل وثيق مع نخبة من أشهر الأسماء والشخصيات المحترفة، التي تحظى بتقدير عالمي في مختلف المجالات التصميمية والإبداعية؛ وذلك لمساعدة الفائزين في عرض أعمالهم أمام العالم وتحقيق أفكارهم المُبتَكرة”.

وأضاف فوجيتا: “نتطلع بحماسٍ إلى الكشف عن أسماء الفائزين الأربعة، ومشاهدة ما سيُقدمونه خلال نسخة هذا العام. وأود أن أتوجه بالشكر إلى جميع المشاركين في جائزة لكزس للتصميم على إسهاماتهم البنَّاءة، والشكر موصول لجميع عملائنا الأوفياء على دعمهم المستمر، الذي يلهمنا دومًا لتخطي جميع المعايير التقليدية، وتقديم تجارب مذهلة واستثنائية”.

ستختار لجنة تحكيم؛ تضم نخبة من خبراء التصميم العالميين، أربعة فائزين من بين المشاركين بناءً على معايير محددة، وستُقدِّم لهم التوجيه والإرشاد لتطوير نماذجهم الأولية، كما ستُخَصَّص ميزانية للبحث والتطوير لكل فائز تصل قيمتها إلى 3 ملايين ين ياباني (أكثر من 22,500 دولار أمريكي) كمنحة تصميم؛ لتغطية تكاليف إنشاء النماذج الأولية، بالإضافة إلى النفقات الأخرى المتعلقة بصقل الفكرة والتصميم ودعم القدرات الإبداعية للفائزين. وتُعَد هذه التجربة الإرشادية التي تُتَاح مرة واحدة في العمر أساسًا لتميُّز “جائزة لكزس للتصميم”. وفي ربيع عام 2023، سيعرض الفائزون الأربعة أعمالهم النهائية على لجنة التحكيم من أجل تقييمها.

سيحظى الفائزون؛ بعد عرض أعمالهم، بفرصة استثنائية تتمثل في إجراء حوارات مهنية مباشرة وفردية مع أعضاء لجنة التحكيم، يعرضون فيها رؤاهم، ويتلقون ملاحظات مهنية على نماذج أعمالهم، ونصائح حول مساراتهم الوظيفية وأهدافهم الطموحة التي من شأنها تعزيز نجاحهم كمبدعين، كما سيُعلَن خلال خريف هذا العام عن أسماء المرشدين وأعضاء لجنة التحكيم لنسخة 2023.
