DFI: screenwriting workshop from August 11 to 15

Doha: Aspiring screenwriters are invited to Doha Film Institute’s (DFI) Screenwriting for Beginners Lab happening from August 11 to 15.

The lab will feature the ‘architecture’ of screenplays including storytelling, screenplay guidelines, non-verbal storytelling and characterisation, and the ‘formatting’ of a screenplay and visual grammar.

DFI explained that the workshop is for participants to produce a minimum of one scene for their screenplay. “They will also have the opportunity to continue their filmmaking journey with the DFI development team, working towards further education and grants.”

Day one of the lab will be focused on Introduction to stories; Day two, Building your characters; Day three, Story architecture; Day four, Visual storytelling, and Day five, Writing for the screen. Fee is QR300 and Qatar Museums Culture Pass members will receive a 10 percent discount. Deadline of application is August 1.

To be able to register, an applicant should submit the following to training@dohafilminstitute.com: -original short film logline and synopsis.

– applicant’s CV or short bio.- copy of applicant’s ID.

– a short paragraph explaining interest in the lab.

Applicants 18 years old or above are eligible to apply.

الدوحة: تمت دعوة كتاب السيناريو الطموحين لحضور مسابقة كتابة السيناريو للمبتدئين في مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام والتي ستقام في الفترة من 11 إلى 15 أغسطس.

وسيعرض المختبر “بناء” السيناريوهات بما في ذلك سرد القصص وإرشادات السيناريو وسرد القصص غير اللفظي والتوصيف و “تنسيق” السيناريو والقواعد المرئية.

وأوضحت المؤسسة أن الورشة مخصصة للمشاركين لإنتاج مشهد واحد على الأقل لسيناريوهم. و”ستتاح لهم أيضاً الفرصة لمواصلة رحلتهم في صناعة الأفلام مع فريق تطوير مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام، والعمل من أجل المزيد من فرص التعليم والمنح”.

وسيركز اليوم الأول من الورشة على مقدمة في القصص؛ واليوم الثاني على بناء الشخصيات؛ واليوم الثالث على بناء وتخطيط القصة؛ واليوم الرابع على سرد القصص المرئي، واليوم الخامس على كتابة السيناريوهات. وتبلغ الرسوم 300 ريال قطري وسيحصل أعضاء بطاقة الثقافة لمتاحف قطر على خصم بنسبة 10٪. وآخر موعد للتقديم هو 1 أغسطس.

– سجل وملخص الفيلم القصير الأصلي.

– السيرة الذاتية لمقدم الطلب أو السيرة الذاتية القصيرة.

– نسخة من هوية مقدم الطلب.

– فقرة قصيرة تشرح الاهتمام بالمختبر.

المتقدمون الذين تبلغ أعمارهم 18 عاماً أو أكثر مؤهلون للتقديم.
