Qatar Foundation to host ‘La Nuit des Idées’
مؤسسة قطر تستضيف فعالية “ليلة الأفكار”
Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF), in partnership with the French Institute in Qatar, is set to play host to ‘La Nuit des Idées’ (The Night of Ideas) today, at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q).
Launched in 2015 by the French Institute in Paris, the annual event aims to promote the exchange of ideas and debates.
This year, nearly 120 cities – from Paris to Doha to New York, Buenos Aires, Dakar, and Katmandu – will host activities as part of the ‘La Nuit des Idées’.
The 2019 edition is being under the theme of ‘Facing our Time’, and will feature a series of 10-minute presentations, followed by an interactive panel discussion addressing the changing face of society.
Speakers include Catherine Dufour, a French science fiction and fantasy writer, who will speak about the challenges the science fiction genre is experiencing today and Dr Laurent A Lambert, Senior Policy Analyst at the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, and Senior Administrator of the Qatar Humanitarian Innovation Lab initiative at Qatar University, who will speak about the effects of global geographical changes, such as climate change.
Meanwhile, Nur Alah Abdelzayed Valdeolmillos, Senior Architect and Heritage Conservation Specialist, QF, will speak about how building the future leads to building the heritage of tomorrow; and Jawaher Al Khater, Project Manager, Qatar Pearl Legacy, QF, will speak about old and new pearling techniques.
They will be joined by Professor Clyde Wilcox, a faculty member at GU-Q – a QF partner university – who will also moderate the discussion.

تستضيف مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع بالشراكة مع المعهد الفرنسي في الدوحة، فعالية “لانوي دي زيديه” (ليلة الأفكار)، غداً الخميس بجامعة جورجتاون في قطر.
وتهدف هذه الفعالية السنوية، التي أطلقها المعهد الفرنسي في باريس عام 2015، إلى تشجيع تبادل الأفكار والمناقشات.
وفي العام الجاري، تستضيف حوالي 120 مدينة، أنشطة لفعالية “ليلة الأفكار”، بدءا من باريس إلى الدوحة، ثم نيويورك، وبوينس آيرس، وداكار، وكاتمندو.
وتنعقد نسخة 2019 من الفعالية تحت شعار “مواجهة العصر الحالي”، وستتضمن سلسلة من العروض التقديمية لمدة عشر دقائق، ومن ثم تليها حلقة نقاش تفاعلية تناقش أبرز التحديات في المجتمع.
وتناقش الفعالية، قصص الخيال والخيال العلمي، التي ستتناول التحديات التي يواجهها أدب الخيال العلمي في وقتنا الحالي، بالإضافة إلى السياسات في معهد البحوث الاجتماعية والاقتصادية المسحية.
