Doha: The Director of Air Navigation Department at the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Al Eshaq, affirmed that “Qatar air navigation is ready to receive the 2022 World Cup with high professionalism, indicating that all procedures related to Qatari airspace, the flow of aircraft movement and air control are in line with the requirements of operational intensity during the World Cup.
Speaking to Al Sharq newspaper, Al Eshaq expected that air traffic during Qatar 2022 World Cup will reach more than 1,600 air movements per day.
In the context of preparations for the Qatar World Cup 2022, Al Eshaq said, the number of aircraft parking lots has been increased to enhance the airport capacity in line with Hamad International Airport’s plans to expand.
It’s expected that the installation of the “virtual tower”, which will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, will be completed by the end of August. This will contribute to the dispensation of traditional control towers. The “virtual tower” can be installed anywhere, and through it, aircraft can be directed through screens and the control device.
A number of modern radars are in service at Doha Airport and Hamad International Airport and two additional radars will be installed at Hamad Airport soon to contribute to enhancing and supporting the movement of aircraft on the runways during takeoff and landing.

الدوحة: أكد مدير إدارة الملاحة الجوية بالهيئة القطرية للطيران المدني، أحمد إسحاق، “استعداد الملاحة الجوية القطرية لاستقبال مونديال 2022 باحترافية عالية، مبينا أن جميع الإجراءات المتعلقة بالمجال الجوي القطري وتدفق حركة الطائرات والمراقبة الجوية تتماشى مع متطلبات الكثافة التشغيلية خلال المونديال.
وتوقع إسحاق، في حديثه لصحيفة الشرق، أن تصل الحركة الجوية خلال مونديال قطر 2022 إلى أكثر من 1600 رحلة جوية في اليوم.
وفي سياق الاستعدادات لاستضافة بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم قطر 2022، أضاف إسحاق، أنه تم زيادة عدد مواقف الطائرات لتعزيز الطاقة الاستيعابية للمطار تماشياً مع خطط مطار حمد الدولي للتوسع.
ومن المنتظر أن يتم الانتهاء من تركيب “البرج الافتراضي”، الذي سيكون الأول من نوعه في الشرق الأوسط، بحلول نهاية شهر أغسطس. وسيساهم ذلك في الاستغناء عن أبراج التحكم التقليدية. حيث يمكن تركيب “البرج الافتراضي” في أي مكان، ومن خلاله يمكن توجيه الطائرات عبر الشاشات وجهاز التحكم.
ويوجد عدد من الرادارات الحديثة في الخدمة في مطار الدوحة ومطار حمد الدولي، وسيتم تركيب رادارين إضافيين في مطار حمد قريباً للمساهمة في تعزيز ودعم حركة الطائرات على المدارج أثناء الإقلاع والهبوط.
