Astronomer at the Qatari Calendar House Dr. Bashir Marzouk stated that on this day, residents of the northern hemisphere, including the residents of the State of Qatar, will witness the longest day and the shortest night throughout the year.

The phenomenon of the summer solstice will occur in the northern hemisphere, while the situation will be opposite for the inhabitants of the southern hemisphere, where the phenomenon of the winter solstice will occur on the same day.

The phenomenon of the summer solstice is one of the crucial astronomical phenomena because the inhabitants of the globe depend on it and on the rest of the four seasons to be aware of the climatic changes, in addition to the fact that on this day the sun will rise from the northeastern point of the sky of Qatar and that the length of the shadow at the time of noon (the time of the noon prayer) on this day will be shorter throughout the year.

Dr. Marzouk added that the phenomenon of the summer solstice comes after the phenomenon of the vernal equinox that occurred last March, as the sun continued its apparent movement gradually towards the north after perpendicular to the equator on the day of the vernal equinox, and the length of the day gradually increased over the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere. This gradient will reach its climax with the longest day and shortest night on Tuesday, while the opposite will happen on the same day on the southern hemisphere, and they will have the shortest day and the longest night on this day.

In addition, the reason for the occurrence of the four astronomical seasons (winter, spring, summer, autumn) is the rotation of the Earth in its orbit around the sun, in addition to the tilt of the Earths axis at the level of its orbit at an angle of 23.5 degrees.

The day after the summer solstice, the sun will begin its apparent movement towards the south again, as the length of the day will be shorter, while the length of the night will increase until the day and night are equal on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022. On this day, the sun will completely perpendicular to the equator, signaling the date of the autumnal equinox for the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere.

الدوحة: أعلنت دار التقويم القطري أن الشمس سوف تتعامد تمامًا على مدار السرطان في نصف الكرة الشمالي يوم الثلاثاء 22 من شهر ذي القعدة 1443هـ، الموافق 21 من شهر يونيو 2022م، وذلك عند الساعة 12:08 ظهرًا بتوقيت الدوحة المحلي.

وذكر الدكتور بشير مرزوق (الخبير الفلكي بدار التقويم القطري) أنه في هذا اليوم سيشهد سكان النصف الشمالي من الكرة الأرضية بمن فيهم سكان دولة قطر أطول نهار وأقصر ليل على مدار العام ؛ حيث ستحدث ظاهرة الانقلاب الصيفي عند سكان النصف الشمالي من الكرة الأرضية، بينما سيكون الوضع معاكسًا عند سكان النصف الجنوبي من الكرة الأرضية؛ حيث ستحدث عندهم ظاهرة الانقلاب الشتوي في ذات اليوم.

وتعتبر ظاهرة الانقلاب الصيفي من الظواهر الفلكية الهامة؛ حيث يَعتمد عليها (وعلى باقي الفصول الأربعة) سكان الكرة الأرضية، لمعرفة التغيرات المناخية، إضافة إلى أنه في هذا اليوم ستشرق الشمس من أقصى نقطة جهة الشمال الشرقي لسماء دولة قطر، وأن طول الظل وقت الزوال (وقت أذان الظهر) في هذا اليوم سيكون أقصر ظل على مدار العام.

وأضاف الدكتور بشير مرزوق أن ظاهرة الانقلاب الصيفي تأتي بعد ظاهرة الاعتدال الربيعي الذي حدث خلال شهر مارس الماضي؛ حيث استمرت الشمس في حركتها الظاهرية تدريجيًا باتجاه الشمال بعد تعامدها على خط الاستواء في يوم الاعتدال الربيعي، وصار طول النهار يزداد تدريجيًا على سكان نصف الكرة الشمالي، وسوف يصل هذا التدرج ذروته بأطول نهار وأقصر ليل في يوم الثلاثاء القادم، بينما سيحدث العكس في ذات اليوم على النصف الجنوبي للكرة الأرضية؛ حيث سيكون عندهم أقصر نهار وأطول ليل في هذا اليوم.

يُذكر أن السبب في حدوث الفصول الفلكية الأربعة (الشتاء، الربيع، الصيف، الخريف) هو دوران الأرض في مدارها حول الشمس، إضافة إلى ميل محور الأرض على مستوى مدارها بزاوية قدرها 23.5 درجة.

وكما هو معلوم فإنه بعد يوم الانقلاب الصيفي ستبدأ الشمس في حركتها الظاهرية نحو الجنوب مرة أخرى؛ حيث إن طول النهار سيقصر، بينما سيزداد طول الليل حتى يتساوى الليل والنهار يوم الجمعة 23 من سبتمبر 2022م، وفي هذا اليوم سوف تتعامد الشمس تمامًا على خط الاستواء مؤذنة بموعد الاعتدال الخريفي على سكان نصف الكرة الشمالي.
