Qatar Ranks 18th Globally in Competitiveness Index

Doha: The State of Qatar ranked 18th globally in the Competitiveness Index, among 64 countries, most of which are developed countries, according to the World Competitiveness Yearbook for 2022, which is issued annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.
The assessment of competitiveness is based on a set of data and indicators that are provided at the local level, in addition to the results of a survey of a sample of company managers and businessmen on the business environment and the competitiveness of the Qatari economy.
The axes in which the State of Qatar ranked high in the report included the economic performance rank 9, government efficiency rank 7, and the business sector efficiency rank 14, while it maintained rank 38 in the axis infrastructure.
The ranking was positively affected in the various axes as a result of a number of factors, including the low unemployment rate (first rank), government subsidies (first rank), cybersecurity (first rank), the high percentage of each of the government budget deficit surplus (second rank), and constant capital formation of GDP (second rank), international experience (second rank), entrepreneurship (third rank), and big data analysis (third rank).
HE President of the Planning and Statistics Authority Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit welcomed those results, saying that despite the slight decline in Qatar’s ranking among the 64 countries, it still occupies an advanced position, thanks to the resilience of its economy in overcoming economic crises.
He explained that successive national development strategies have made progress in the field of economic infrastructure, and in the field of developing the private sector by organizing partnership with the public sector in a manner that contributes to achieving economic growth and diversification in order to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The State of Qatar’s part in the World Competitiveness Yearbook for 2022 is the fruit of continuous cooperation between the IMD and the PSA. This is the 14th consecutive time that Qatar has participated in the World Competitiveness Yearbook.

الدوحة: حققت دولة قطر المرتبة الثامنة عشرة عالميا في مؤشر التنافسية، وذلك من بين 64 دولة معظمها من الدول المتقدمة، وفقا لكتاب التنافسية العالمي لعام 2022، الذي يصدره المعهد الدولي للتنمية الإدارية (IMD) سنويا في سويسرا.
ويعتمد تقييم القدرة التنافسية على مجموعة من البيانات والمؤشرات التي تم توفيرها على المستوى المحلي، بالإضافة إلى نتائج استطلاع رأي عينة من مديري الشركات، ورجال الأعمال بشأن بيئة الأعمال، وتنافسية الاقتصاد القطري.
وقد شملت المحاور التي تبوأت فيها دولة قطر مراتب متقدمة في التقرير، كلا من محور الأداء الاقتصادي المرتبة (9)، ومحور الكفاءة الحكومية في المرتبة (7)، ومحور كفاءة قطاع الأعمال في المرتبة (14)، كما تقدم ترتيب دولة قطر في محور البنية التحتية فاحتلت المرتبة (38).
وقد تأثر الترتيب إيجابيا، في المحاور المختلفة، نتيجة عدد من العوامل، منها تدني معدل البطالة (المرتبة الأولى)، والإعانات الحكومية (المرتبة الأولى)، والأمن السيبراني (المرتبة الأولى)، وارتفاع النسبة المئوية لكل من فائض / عجز الموازنة الحكومية (المرتبة الثانية)، والتكوين الرأسمالي الثابت من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي (المرتبة الثانية)، والخبرة الدولية (المرتبة الثانية)، وريادة الأعمال (المرتبة الثالثة)، واستخدام وتحليل البيانات الضخمة (المرتبة الثالثة).
وعن هذا الترتيب، أعرب سعادة الدكتور صالح بن محمد النابت رئيس جهاز التخطيط والإحصاء، عن ترحيبه بهذه النتائج، قائلا: “على الرغم من التراجع الطفيف في ترتيب دولة قطر ضمن الدول الـ 64، فإنها ما زالت تحتل مرتبة متقدمة، وذلك بفضل مرونة اقتصادها في تجاوز الأزمات الاقتصادية”، موضحا أن استراتيجيات التنمية الوطنية المتعاقبة حققت تقدما في مجال البنية التحتية الاقتصادية، وفي مجال تنمية القطاع الخاص بتنظيم الشراكة بينه وبين القطاع العام، وبما يساهم في تحقيق النمو والتنويع الاقتصادي تحقيقا لغايات رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.
يشار إلى أن الجزء الخاص بدولة قطر في كتاب التنافسية العالمي 2022 هو ثمرة التعاون المستمر بين المعهد الدولي للتنمية الإدارية من جهة، وجهاز التخطيط والإحصاء من جهة أخرى، وهذه هي المرة الرابعة عشرة على التوالي التي تشارك فيها قطر في كتاب التنافسية العالمي.
