Within 24 hours of scaling Everest, Sheikha Asma conquers Mount Lhotse

Doha: “What a great way to climb Everest and Lhotse,” said Sheikha Asma bint Thani Al-Thani on Instagram as she conquered another summit within 24 hours of scaling the peak of Mount Everest.
Within 24 hours of her historial feat in Mount Everest on May 27, Sheikha Asma bint Thani Al-Thani scaled Mount Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world which stands at 8,516 metres above sea level.
“With heavy snow for a couple of days, the ropes were buried deep in the snow on the Lhotse Couloir. But that did not stop us from getting to the top and back down safely,” she said in the Instagram caption as she shared photos of the climb.
Furthermore, Sheikha Asma also expressed gratitude for the rest of her team as well as the leadership of well-known mountaineer, Nirmal Purja also known as Nimsdai, the man behind the Netflix documentary, “14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible”.
Reaching the summit of Mount Lhotse also named her as the first Qatari woman to ever do so. This follows her historical achievement of reaching the Mount Everest summit on May 27 at 6:30am, raising the flag of Qatar on Earth’s highest mountain peak.

الدوحة: نشرت الشيخة أسماء بنت ثاني آل ثاني على حسابها على الانستغرام “يا لها من طريقة رائعة لتسلق إيفرست ولهوتس”، وهي تغزو قمة أخرى في غضون 24 ساعة من تسلقها لقمة جبل إيفرست.
وكانت الشيخة أسماء بنت ثاني آل ثاني قد تسلقت جبل لهوتس، رابع أعلى جبل في العالم والذي يبلغ ارتفاعه 8.516 متراً فوق مستوى سطح البحر، في غضون 24 ساعة من إنجازها التاريخي في جبل إيفرست في 27 مايو.
وقالت في تعليق على الانستغرام بينما كانت تشارك صور من التسلق: “مع تساقط الثلوج بكثافة لبضعة أيام، دُفنت الحبال بعمق في الجليد في ممرات جبل لهوتس. لكن هذا لم يمنعنا من الوصول إلى القمة والعودة إلى أسفل بأمان”.
علاوة على ذلك، أعربت الشيخة أسماء أيضاً عن امتنانها لبقية فريقها وكذلك لقيادة متسلق الجبال المعروف نيرمال بورجا المعروف أيضاً باسم نيمسداي، الرجل الذي يقف وراء الفيلم الوثائقي على نتفليكس، “14 بيكس: نوثينغ إز إمبوسيبل”.
وعند وصولها إلى قمة جبل لهوتس، أُطلق عليها أيضاً لقب أول امرأة قطرية تقوم بذلك على الإطلاق. ويأتي ذلك بعد إنجازها التاريخي بالوصول إلى قمة جبل إيفرست في 27 مايو الساعة 6:30 صباحاً، ورفع علم قطر على أعلى قمة جبلية على الأرض.
