Al Wakrah Water Walk opens for the Elderly people with disabilities

Al-Wakrah Municipality opened yesterday morning the sustainable marine promenade for people with disabilities and the elderly on Al-Wakrah Public Beach. The project extends along 85 meters and 2 meters wide and serves more than 33,000 people nationwide and about 3190 in Al-Wakrah city.

Mohammed Hassan Al-Nuaimi, Director of Al-Wakrah Municipality, Her Excellency Mrs. Marjan Kamstra, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Qatar, and a number of directors of departments and citizens in Al-Wakrah Municipality. Attended the opening of the promenade, Eng. Mohammed Hassan al-Nuaimi, director of al-Wakrah municipality, said in a special press statement to Al-Raya on the sidelines of the opening of the project:
The promenade comes in response to the desire of many citizens of Al-Wakrah city, especially the elderly, who applied to the municipality to implement this project, as well as to achieve Qatar’s national vision and the strategy of the Ministry of Municipality to achieve sustainable development in partnership with various sectors and members of society.
More than 33,000 people nationwide and about 3,190 in Al-Wakrah will benefit from the project. The director of Al-Wakrah municipality said: The project was implemented in coordination with the supervisory Committee of beautification of roads and public places and in cooperation with private sector institutions as part of community responsibility initiatives.
He stressed that Al-Wakrah Municipality welcomes all proposals that contribute to the improvement of services provided to all segments of society and that it adopts the initiatives of school students and youth, especially those related to environmental sustainability.

افتَتَحَتْ بلديةُ الوكرة صباحَ أمس الممشى البحري المُستدام الخاصّ بذوي الإعاقة وكبار السنِّ على شاطئ الوكرة العام، ويمتدُّ المشروع على طول 85 مترًا وعرض 2 متر، ويخدم أكثر من 33 ألفَ شخص على مُستوى الدولة ونحو 3190 في مدينة الوكرة، حضر افتتاح الممشى، م. محمد حسن النعيمي مدير بلدية الوكرة، وسعادةُ السيدة ماريان كامسترا سفيرة مملكة هولندا لدى الدولة وعدد من مديري الإدارات والمواطنين ببلدية الوكرة.
وقال م. محمد حسن النعيمي مدير بلدية الوكرة في تصريحات صحفية خاصة لـ الراية على هامش افتتاح المشروع:
إنَّ الممشى يأتي نزولًا عند رغبة العديد من المواطنين من سكان مدينة الوكرة لا سيما فئة كبار السنِّ الذين تقدموا للبلدية بطلب تنفيذ هذا المشروع، وكذلك تحقيقًا لرؤية قطر الوطنية واستراتيجية وزارة البلدية في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة بالاشتراك مع القطاعات المختلفة وأفراد المجتمع، وسيستفيدُ من المشروع أكثر من 33 ألفًا على مستوى الدولة ونحو 3190 في مدينة الوكرة. وقالَ مدير بلدية الوكرة: تمَّ تنفيذ المشروع بالتنسيق مع لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة وبالتعاون مع مؤسسات القطاع الخاص ضمن مبادرات المسؤولية المجتمعية. مؤكدًا على أن بلدية الوكرة ترحب بجميع المقترحات التي تساهم في الارتقاء بالخدمات المقدمة لجميع فئات المجتمع، كما أنَّها تتبنى مبادرات طلاب المدارس والشباب، لا سيما تلك المتعلقة بالاستدامة البيئية.
