“Black Lives Matter” nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Oslo: A Norwegian mp has proposed nominating the anti-racist Black Lives Matter movement, which emerged last year with the murder of African-American George Floyd, for the Nobel Peace Prize. The movement, founded in 2013 in the United States, “has become one of the most powerful movements in the world to fight racial injustice,” Socialist left-wing deputy Peter Eddy told AFP. “It started a few years ago in the United States and then spread to several other countries, which reinforced awareness of the importance of combating racial injustice,” he said. After Floyd was killed by a white police officer in May 2020 in the United States during his arrest, Black Lives Matter called on many institutions around the world to demand change and better representation. “It opened the debate and (attracted) attention in many countries,” Eddy said. Tens of thousands of people (parliamentarians, ministers from all countries, award-winners and some university professors) are entitled to nominate for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Nominations that must be sent until January 31st are usually kept confidential, unless the initiators disclose their choice. Controversial WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and three Belarusian dissidents, led by Svetlana Tikhanovska and organizations working for vaccination are also nominated (Gavi Vaccines Alliance, Alliance for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Press Freedom (Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists) and the International Fact-Finding Network, and former U.S. President Donald Trump was nominated.
The Nobel Prize will be awarded in early October. It was awarded last year to the United Nations World Food Programme.

اوسلو: اقترح نائب نروجي ترشيح حركة “حياة السود مهمة” المناهضة للعنصرية، والتي برزت العام الماضي مع مقتل جورج فلويد الأميركي من أصول إفريقية، لنيل جائزة نوبل للسلام.وقال بيتر إيدي نائب اليسار الاشتراكي لوكالة فرانس برس إن الحركة التي تأسست عام 2013 في الولايات المتحدة “اصبحت من اقوى الحركات نفوذا في العالم لمحاربة الظلم العنصري”.واضاف “بدأت قبل بضع سنوات في الولايات المتحدة ثم امتدت إلى عدة بلدان أخرى، مما عزز الوعي بأهمية مكافحة الظلم العنصري”.بعد مقتل فلويد على يد شرطي أبيض في مايو 2020 في الولايات المتحدة أثناء اعتقاله، دعت حركة “حياة السود مهمة” العديد من المؤسسات في العالم للمطالبة بالتغيير وبتمثيل أفضل.ورأى ايدي أنها “فتحت النقاش و(جذبت) الاهتمام في العديد من البلدان”.ويحق لعشرات الآلاف من الأشخاص (برلمانيون ووزراء من جميع البلدان وحاصلون على الجائزة وبعض أساتذة الجامعات ..إلخ) تقديم ترشيح لنيل جائزة نوبل للسلام.
ويتم عادة المحافظة على سرية الترشيحات التي يجب إرسالها حتى 31 يناير كحد أقصى، ما لم يعمد المبادرون إلى كشف خيارهم.ومن المرشحين كذلك مؤسس ويكيليكس المثير للجدل جوليان أسانج وثلاثة معارضين بيلاروسيين على رأسهم سفيتلانا تيخانوفسكا ومنظمات تعمل من أجل التطعيم (تحالف اللقاحات غافي وتحالف من أجل ابتكارات التأهب للوباء) وحرية الصحافة (مراسلون بلا حدود ولجنة حماية الصحافيين) والشبكة الدولية لتقصي الحقائق، كما تم ترشيح الرئيس الأميركي السابق دونالد ترامب.
ويتم منح جائزة نوبل في أوائل أكتوبر المقبل.ومنحت العام الماضي لبرنامج الاغذية العالمي التابع للأمم المتحدة.
