Volkswagen Group Inaugurates New Middle-East Regional Headquarters in Doha

Doha: The Volkswagen Group hosted an inauguration ceremony for its new regional headquarters at Msheireb Downtown in Doha, Qatar, yesterday in the presence of Chief Executive Officer of QIA Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG Dr. Herbert Diess, and Regional Chief Executive Officer of VWGME Benoit Tiers.
Chief Executive Officer of QIA Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud said, “QIA is proud to inaugurate Volkswagen Group’s regional headquarters here in Doha’s Msheireb district, which showcases innovation and future-focused businesses.”
Chairman of the Board of Management, Volkswagen AG, Dr. Herbert Diess commented, “The Volkswagen Group has a long history in the region and a strong relationship with the State of Qatar. The opening today is symbol of our long-term commitment and dedication to develop this partnership. Doha will become the center of all VW Group activities in the Middle-East. This new company will ensure all typical headquarters functions, we know that there is significant room for growth and we want to tackle that potential.”
The inauguration marks a new business entity set up with the establishment of Volkswagen Group Middle-East QFZ LLC (VWGME). This new regional headquarters will be responsible for core business functions for the company in the region, including strategy, finance, human resources, information technology, procurement and legal operations. This new entity will lead and support the VW Group activities in all markets where the VW Group brands are active in the Middle-East.
The new regional headquarters and business entity symbolizes the group’s commitment to Qatar and the region. With a presence of over 15 years, the company recognizes the exceptional value it offers and plans to continue its growth together with local partners.
The Volkswagen Group’s NEW AUTO strategy focuses on mobility for generations to come. The group is shifting to zero-emission electric cars and develops autonomous driving technology to spearhead software and mobility solutions by 2030. This aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 that aims to develop a sustainable and high standard of living for its population and future generations. The Volkswagen Group will work closely with the relevant government entities to support the nation’s economic and environmental development plans, specifically towards the nation’s sustainable agenda.
As a first step to support the development of full electric car sales in Qatar, Dr. Diess announced the investment by the Audi brand of USD 1 million in 2022 which will further develop charging infrastructure in the country in coordination with local partners and authorities. Audi already offers 4 full electric models in Qatar, with the e-tron and e-tron GT model lineup.

وبهذه المناسبة، عبر السيد منصور إبراهيم آل محمود الرئيس التنفيذي لجهاز قطر للاستثمار، عن فخر الجهاز بافتتاح المقر الإقليمي لمجموعة /فولكس واجن/ في منطقة مشيرب قلب الدوحة، معتبرا هذا التدشين مثالا على الابتكار والأعمال المستقبلية.
من جانبه، قال الدكتور هربرت ديس رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة /فولكس واجن/، إن المجموعة تتمتع بتاريخ طويل في المنطقة، وعلاقاتها قوية مع دولة قطر، مبينا أن هذا التدشين يجسد الالتزام الطويل الأمد والتفاني في تطوير هذه الشراكة.
وقال إن “الدوحة ستصبح مركزا لجميع أنشطة مجموعة /فولكس واجن/ في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وستضمن هذه الشراكة الجديدة جميع وظائف المقر الإقليمي النموذجية، فنحن ندرك أن هناك فرصة كبيرة للنمو ونسعى للاستفادة منها”.
ويتزامن الافتتاح مع إطلاق كيان تجاري جديد تحت مسمى /مجموعة فولكس واجن الشرق الأوسط/. وسيكون هذا المقر الإقليمي الجديد مسؤولا عن الأعمال الأساسية للشركة في المنطقة، بما في ذلك الاستراتيجية والتمويل والموارد البشرية وتكنولوجيا المعلومات والمشتريات والعمليات القانونية.
وسيشرف ويدعم هذا الكيان الجديد على أنشطة مجموعة /فولكس واجن/ في جميع الأسواق التي تنشط فيها العلامات التجارية للمجموعة في الشرق الأوسط.
وتركز استراتيجية “انطلاقة جديدة” الجديدة لمجموعة /فولكس واجن/ على إنتاج السيارات الكهربائية عديمة الانبعاثات، وعلى تطوير تقنيات القيادة الذاتية لتتصدر حلول البرمجيات والتنقل بحلول العام 2030. ويتماشى هذا التوجه مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، التي تهدف إلى تطوير مستوى معيشي مستدام وعال لسكانها وللأجيال القادمة.

وكخطوة أولى لدعم تطوير مبيعات السيارات الكهربائية بالكامل في قطر، أعلن الدكتور هربرت ديس عن استثمار علامة /أودي/ التجارية لمبلغ بقيمة مليون دولار أمريكي في العام 2022، حيث سيتيح هذا الاستثمار، الذي يتم بالتنسيق مع الشركاء والسلطات المحلية، تطوير البنية التحتية للشحن في الدولة.
