Ashghal plants 192 trees, develops 17,000 sqm green spaces around Legtaifiya Station

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of all landscaping works and construction of roads surrounding Legtaifiya Station and opening them to traffic. The works are part of the Road Improvement Works in Various Areas in Greater Doha project (Phase 6), and included providing a shared pedestrian and bicycle path, and planting trees and green spaces in and around the station.

The new roads provide two entrances to the Legtaifiya station; the first is from Lusail Road and the second is from the Pearl Road. These roads contribute to facilitating access to the station and other health and recreational facilities in the area.

In a statement today the company said that this comes as part of Ashghals efforts to develop the transportation network in Qatar, enhance the integration between the road network and the rail network, and facilitate traffic. The new roads serve Legtaifiya station within the Doha Metro Red Line and the recently opened Lusail Tram Line.

The Head of Doha City Section in the Roads Projects Department Eng. Mooza Mohamed Al Sowaidi, said that Ashghal was keen to speed up the pace of work to complete the first phase of road works to coincide with the start of operation of the Doha Metro Red Line, and to complete all works including roads, beautification, parking lots, and others, with the opening of the first phase of Lusail Tram services at Legtaifiya Station.

In addition to the implementation of road works with a length of 2.2 km, a 3.3 km shared pedestrian and bicycle path was provided, and 192 trees were planted, in addition to providing 17,000 sqm of green spaces. The area around the Legtaifiya station was also provided with seating for visitors, and parking for bicycles. This comes as part Ashghals efforts to increase green areas and encouraging exercise in green spaces.

The project also included the implementation of infrastructure works including about 1.2 km of sewage network, and 2 km of surface and storm water drainage lines, in addition to 1 km of treated water lines to be used for irrigation.

Works also included the provision of advanced lighting systems, as 48 street lighting poles were installed, in addition to 272 LED lights on the floors and on the stairs in the area surrounding the station to give an aesthetic look to the green area in general. In addition, 210 parking spaces were provided, as well as crossings for people with special needs.

In the context of supporting local materials and manufacturers, the percentage of local materials in the project reached 80% of its total works, as materials and elements such as lighting poles, lamps, directional boards, traffic signs, sewage pipes, rainwater drainage, asphalt and prefabricated manholes were supplied. الدوحة: أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ عن الانتهاء من تنفيذ جميع أعمال التجميل، وإنشاء الطرق المحيطة بمحطة /لقطيفية/ بطول 2.2 كيلومتر، وفتحها بالكامل أمام الحركة المرورية.

وذكرت /أشغال/، في بيان، أنه تم أيضا إنشاء مسار مشترك للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول 3.3 كيلومتر، وزراعة 192 شجرة إلى جانب توفير 17 ألف متر مربع من المساحات الخضراء، كما تم تزويد المنطقة الواقعة حول محطة /لقطيفية/ بمدرج لجلوس الزوار ورواد المنطقة، ومواقف للدراجات الهوائية، وذلك في إطار الجهود التي تبذلها الهيئة لتوسيع الرقعة الخضراء، والمساهمة في زيادة الإقبال على المساحات الخضراء، والتشجيع على ممارسة الرياضة.

وشملت الأعمال أيضا توفير أنظمة إنارة متطورة، حيث تم تركيب 48 عمودا لإنارة الشوارع، و 272 مصباحا من نوع (LED) تم تركيبها في الأرضيات وعلى الأدراج في المنطقة المحيطة بالمحطة لإضفاء صفة جمالية للمنطقة الخضراء بشكل عام، كما تم توفير 210 مواقف للسيارات، إلى جانب توفير معابر لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.

كما شمل المشروع تنفيذ أعمال للبنية التحتية تتمثل في حوالي 1.2 كيلومتر لخطوط شبكة الصرف الصحي، وكيلومترين لخطوط تصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار، إلى جانب كيلومتر واحد من خطوط المياه المعالجة والمستخدمة في الري.

وتوفر الطرق الجديدة مدخلين إلى محطة /لقطيفية/، الأول من طريق لوسيل، والثاني من طريق اللؤلؤة، حيث تساهم هذه الطرق في تسهيل الوصول إلى المحطة وغيرها من المنشآت الصحية والترفيهية في المنطقة.

وأفادت /أشغال/ بأن نسبة استخدام المكون المحلي وصلت إلى 80% من إجمالي المشروع، حيث تم التزود بمواد وعناصر مثل أعمدة ومصابيح الإنارة واللوحات الإرشادية واللوحات والعلامات المرورية وأنابيب الصرف الصحي وتصريف مياه الأمطار والاسفلت والمناهل مسبقة الصنع، بالإضافة إلى الخرسانة وحديد التسليح وغيرها من المواد من الصناعات الوطنية.

وفي سياق متصل، قالت المهندسة موزة السويدي، رئيسة قسم مشاريع مدينة الدوحة بإدارة مشروعات الطرق، إن /أشغال/ حرصت على تسريع وتيرة إنجاز الأعمال، والانتهاء من المرحلة الأولى من أعمال الطرق ليتزامن ذلك مع بدء تشغيل الخط الأحمر ضمن مسار مترو الدوحة، ثم استكمال جميع الأعمال من طرق وتجميل ومواقف مخصصة للسيارات وغيرها مع بداية تشغيل المرحلة الأولى من خدمات ترام لوسيل بمحطة لقطيفية.

وأوضحت أن أهمية المشروع تكمن في تعزيز الربط مع كل من مسار المترو وخط الترام وتسهيل الوصول إليهما، إلى جانب تعزيز التكامل بين شبكة الطرق وشبكة النقل العمومي.
