Al Thuraya Planetarium to screen 8 films in March

Mark your calendar this March as Katara’s Al Thuraya Planetarium is back with eight films throughout this month.

Cultural Village Foundation, Katara announced this on their social media. The movies that will be screened include Polaris in 3D, The Astronaut in 3D, 8 Scoops of Milky Way, The Stars, The Universe, The Zula Patrol Show, Perfect little Planet, and Dawn of the Space Age. There will be two shows for each day, one at 5pm and at 6pm.

Polaris 3D show was screened on March 2; The Astronaut 3D show will be screened on March 5; 8 Scoops of Milky Way on March 9 and 16; The Stars on March 14 and 23; The Universe on March 21; The Zula Patrol Show on March 28; and Perfect Little Planet on March 30. These movies will be screened at 5pm.

Meanwhile, the following will be screened at the second show at 6pm: The Universe on March 2 and 30; Perfect Little Planet on March 5; The Zula Patrol Show on March 9; The Astronaut 3D Show on March 14; Dawn of the Space Age 3D Show on March 16; The Stars on March 21; Polaris 3D Show on March 23; and 8 Scoops of Milky Way on March 28.

Polaris is a story about Polaris, the Space Submarine and the mystery of the Polar Night penguins from the South Pole, and a bear from the North Pole where they met on the Arctic sea ice. The Astronaut provides the audience with basic astronomy information. 8 Scoops of Milky Way tackles the eight planets and the sun, it shows footages of the uniqueness and beauty of our solar system. The Universe Show meanwhile is a historical look at how we have envisioned the universe across the ages.

Th Stars discusses about the stars per se, The Zula Patrol Show is a story about the strong heroes of the Zula Patrol and their expedition collecting samples of weather for scientist Multo’s research. Perfect Little Planet is a show discovering our solar system through a different set of eyes – a family from another star system seeking the perfect holiday spot. And Dawn of the Space Age is the historic reconstruction of man’s first steps into space.

Katara said the entry to the planetarium is free and open for all age groups, and registration is through its website www.althuraya.katara.net. 

Entrance is only for vaccinated people and it also advised the public to arrive 30 minutes before the show as seats are limited. The Planetarium is located in Building 41, opposite to gate number 6.
