Which obstacles are hindering development of projects in Qatar the most?

Doha: A number of businessmen and businesswomen affirmed that expanding their current projects or launching others with different domains remains one of the goals they aim at in the next stage. Especially since Qatar is preparing to host many important occasions, foremost of which is the 2022 World Cup, which requires increasing production efficiency and raising the quality of services provided in various fields. However, success in this task requires the authorities responsible for the industrial and commercial sector in the country to overcome many obstacles that prevent them from achieving this goal, which will certainly contribute to achieving Qatar Vision 2030, which is based primarily on building a strong economy that depends primarily on diversifying sources of income and not rely on our financial resources associated with the export of liquefied natural gas “LNG”.

The speakers in the poll conducted by Al-Sharq newspaper considered that the first thing that should be highlighted in the next stage is the issue of reducing costs for investors, which greatly affected their expansion projects in the last stage, particularly those related to port fees, which are locally the most expensive in the world, in light of the insistence of the authorities in this sector not to open the doors to wooden ships that are suitable for importing various types of raw materials, and to replace them with high-fee rail boats, not to mention the high shipping fee, which contributes to doubling the value of local production, and makes the prices of national goods slightly more expensive when compared to their counterparts from abroad.

Investors added to this issue many other points that should be reviewed again, starting with administrative procedures, citing the extraction of commercial licenses and the restriction of the establishment to name a few, which, although digitized, are still far from their expectations of speeding up the clearance of transactions, which costing them effort and time in implementing their projects.

They demanded a reduction in the value of fees associated with these measures in order to ease the financial burden on them and encourage them to work in all sectors.

الدوحة: أكد عدد من رجال الأعمال وسيدات الأعمال أن التوسع في مشاريعهم الحالية أو إطلاق أخرى على اختلاف تخصصاتها يبقى أحد الأهداف التي يرمون إليها في المرحلة القادمة، خاصة وأن قطر على موعد مع احتضان العديد من المناسبات المهمة وعلى رأسها كأس العالم 2022 التي تتطلب زيادة كفاءة الإنتاج والرفع من جودة الخدمات المقدمة في شتى المجالات، إلا أن النجاح في هذه المهمة يتطلب من الجهات المسؤولة على القطاع الصناعي والتجاري في الدولة، تذليل العديد من العقبات التي تحول بينهم وبين تحقيق هذا المبتغى الذي سيسهم بكل تأكيد في الوصول إلى رؤية قطر 2030، المبنية في الأساس على بناء اقتصاد قوي يعتمد في الأساس على تنويع مصادر الدخل وعدم الاستناد على مواردنا المالية المرتبطة بتصدير الغاز الطبيعي المسال.

ورأى المتحدثون في الاستطلاع الذي أجرته جريدة الشرق أن أول ما يجب تسليط الضوء عليه في المرحلة المقبلة، هو مسألة تقليل التكاليف على المستثمرين ما أثر كثيرا على مشاريعهم التوسعية في المرحلة الأخيرة، لاسيما المتعلقة منها برسوم الموانئ التي تعد محليا الأغلى على مستوى العالم، في ظل اصرار الجهات القائمة على هذا القطاع على عدم فتح الأبواب أمام السفن الخشبية التي تصلح لاستيراد مختلف الأنواع من المواد الخام، واستبدالها بالمراكب الحديدية التي تتسم برسوم عالية، ناهيك عن مبلغ الشحن المرتفع ما يسهم في مضاعفة قيمة الانتاج المحلي، ويجعل من أسعار البضائع الوطنية أغلى قليلا إذا ما قورنت بنظيرتها القادمة من الخارج.

وأضاف المستثمرون إلى هذه المسألة العديد من النقاط الأخرى التي يجب مراجعتها مرة أخرى، بداية من الإجراءات الإدارية ذاكرين منها الخاصة باستخراج الرخص التجارية وقيد المنشأة على سبيل الذكر لا الحصر، التي وبالرغم من رقمنتها إلا أنها ما زالت بعيدة عن تطلعاتهم فيما يخص تسريع تخليص المعاملات، الأمر الذي يفقدهم الجهد والوقت في طريق نقل مشاريعم إلى أرض الواقع، مطالبين أيضا بتخفيض قيمة الرسوم المرتبطة بهذه الإجراءات من أجل تخفيف الأعباء المالية عليهم وتشجيعهم على العمل في كل القطاعات.
