QNL Hosts Lecture Series on Manuscript Studies
مكتبة قطر الوطنية تُطلق سلسلة من المحاضرات حول علم المخطوطات

Doha: Qatar National Library, in collaboration with the Center for Manuscript Studies at Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted a lecture, “Manuscript Studies: Disciplines and Approaches.”
The event was part of a series of lectures on manuscript studies that features renowned international experts in Islamic codicology and related fields.
Idham Hanash, Professor of Manuscripts and Islamic Arts and Director of the Encyclopedia of the Arabic Manuscripts at the House of Manuscripts in Istanbul, delivered the lecture, which discussed the methods for studying manuscripts and their cognitive trends, as well as manuscript science. The lecture was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, Minister of State, Qatar and President of Qatar National Library, and Mohammed Fatih Kaya, lecturer at Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University.
Commenting on the event, HE Minister of State, Qatar and President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari said: “The world still looks with a keen eye at Arab and Islamic heritage through the manuscripts of scientific and scholarly works, which are undisputedly the most important intellectual achievement of Arab-Islamic civilization. The protection of Arab and Islamic manuscripts reflects a key part of our responsibility to contribute to the preservation of these important heritage items.”
“I would like to thank the Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University for their valuable participation in this lecture. I hope this and future lectures will educate and provide members with knowledge on the unique subject of manuscripts,” he added.
Fatih Sultan Mehmed Waqf University’s participation with the Library in the lecture is part of a wide range of fruitful cooperation with Turkish cultural institutions. The Library signed a strategic Memorandum of Cooperation with the Nation’s Library (NsL) of the Republic of Turkey to expand knowledge in the fields of education, science and culture, and promote the development of librarianship. In addition, the NsL also donated 400 books by popular Turkish authors to the Library, covering topics such as politics, public affairs, research and cuisine. The books helped to expand and diversify the Library’s existing collections and help the local community learn more about Turkey and its people.
The next monthly manuscript studies lecture series entitled, “Types of Authorship and its Relations in Arab Heritage,” will be held on 13 March 2022 and delivered by Kamal Arafat Nabhan, Professor of Information Science. Professor Nabhan authored the book, The Genius of Arabic Authorship: Text Relations and Scientific Communication, which has won international awards and is taught as part of academic courses in several Arab universities for postgraduate studies.
The Library continues to provide educational and informative sessions to bridge the gap between the study of Islamic manuscripts and contemporary cultural awareness.

الدوحة: أعلنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية يوم أمس عن إطلاق سلسلة من المحاضرات الشهرية الافتراضية حول دراسات وعلم المخطوطات بالتعاون مع مركز دراسة المخطوطات في جامعة السلطان محمد الفاتح الوقفية في إسطنبول بتركيا.
وقدَّم المحاضرة الأولى في هذه السلسلة الدكتور إدهام محمد حنش، أستاذ المخطوطات والفنون الإسلامية، ومدير موسوعة المخطوط العربي في دار المخطوطات بإسطنبول، وكانت بعنوان “مناهج دراسة المخطوطات واتجاهاتها المعرفية”.
وقال سعادة الدكتور حمد بن عبدالعزيز الكواري وزير الدولة ورئيس مكتبة قطر الوطنية، في كلمته الافتتاحية للمحاضرة: “لا يزال العالم ينظر اليوم بعين ملؤها الإكبار إلى التراث العربي والإسلامي من مخطوطات المصنفات العلمية والمعرفية التي هي بلا منازع أهم إنجاز فكري للحضارة العربية الإسلامية، مشددا على أن حماية المخطوطات العربية والإسلامية خاصة والتراث الوثائقي عمومًا وصونها من الأخطار المعاصرة يجسد ضلعًا رئيسًا في رسالة مكتبة قطر الوطنية ورؤيتها كمكتبة وطنية أخذت على عاتقها مسؤولية الإسهام في حفظ التراث وصونه”.
وأعرب عن شكره لمركز دراسة المخطوطات في جامعة السلطان محمد الفاتح الوقفية بإسطنبول على مشاركته الثرية في هذه السلسلة من المحاضرات، التي تمد جسرًا بين دراسة المخطوطات الإسلامية والوعي الثقافي المعاصر، وتضع هذا العلم في دائرة اهتمام جمهور المكتبة، مشيرا إلى أن هذه المحاضرات سوف تسهم في زيادة الإقبال على دراسة المخطوطات وزيادة الباحثين والمهتمين بهذا العلم الشريف الذي طالما كان علمًا نخبويًا يقتصر على فئة قليلة من الأكاديميين.
كما ألقى السيد محمد فاتح قايا المحاضر بمركز المخطوطات بجامعة السلطان محمد الفاتح الوقفية كلمة عن أهمية تعاون المركز مع مكتبة قطر في مجال التعريف بعلم المخطوطات.
وتستضيف سلسلة المحاضرات ،التي تستمر على مدى عام، خبراء متخصصين في علم المخطوطات لمناقشة مختلف قضايا ومناهج دراسة المخطوطات العربية والإسلامية وثقافة الكتاب المخطوط.
وسوف تقام المحاضرة التالية في 13 مارس الجاري حول “أنواع التأليف في التراث العربي وعلاقاته” وسيلقيها الأستاذ الدكتور كمال عرفات نبهان، أستاذ علم المعلومات، ومؤلف كتاب “عبقرية التأليف العربي: علاقة النصوص والاتصال العلمي”، وهو كتابٌ رائدٌ حاز العديد من الجوائز الدولية، ويُدَرَّس ضمن المقررات الأكاديمية في عدد من الجامعات العربية بالدراسات العليا.
جدير الذكر أن تعاون مكتبة قطر مع مركز المخطوطات بجامعة السلطان محمد الفاتح الوقفية في تنظيم هذه المحاضرات يأتي امتدادًا للتعاون المثمر مع المؤسسات الثقافية التركية، ففي 26 أكتوبر الماضي، وقعت مكتبة قطر الوطنية مذكرة تعاون استراتيجية مع مكتبة الأمة برئاسة الجمهورية التركية لتعزيز التعاون في المجالات ذات الاهتمام المشترك كالتعاون في المجالات العلمية والتقنية والثقافية، والتعاون في مجال المعلومات وأنشطة المكتبات.
وتُنظّم المكتبة الوطنية عشرات الفعاليات التثقيفية والتوعوية والمحاضرات الزاخرة بالمعلومات لسد الفجوة بين دراسة المخطوطات الإسلامية والوعي الثقافي المعاصر.
