Three new parks opened in Al-Khor

Doha: Al-Khor Municipality, in cooperation with the Ras Laffan Social Networking Program, opened yesterday three parks in the city of Al-Khor, which are: Al-Owaina and Al-Baraha and beautification project of the northern entrance to Al-Khor, which represents a new addition to the city’s continuous beautification efforts and distinct outlets for the people by increasing green spaces.

The opening was attended by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sayed, Acting Director of Al Khor Municipality, Sheikha Dana Rashid Al-Thani, Senior Official of the Ras Laffan Program for Social Communication, and Mr. Abdullah Makled Al Muraikhi, member of the Central Municipal Council from Al-Khor, and a number of municipality officials.

Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Mohannadi, head of the Public Parks Department in Al-Khor Municipality, said in exclusive statements to Al-Raya: The three parks were created in cooperation with the Ras Laffan Social Networking Program, and were opened during the last period on an experimental basis, but yesterday they was officially opened, He added: The sites of the three gardens were previously empty lands distorting the general landscape in the city of Al-Khor, but after turning them into public parks, they added a new civilized touch to the city.

He pointed out that with regard to the beautification project of the northern entrance to Al-Khor garden, which has during the last period an area amounted to 42,000 square meters, which is green spaces at different levels, and includes a large group of trees and a walkway in the middle with a length of 600 meters, and includes 7 pergolas of different shapes as a rest for visitors, and it is equipped with soft lighting.

The second park, Al Owaina Park, covers an area of ​​22,000 square meters and includes a green area of ​​18,000 square meters, surrounded by a 500-meter-long walkway with a large number of local trees. It also includes a small canopy as a rest stop for visitors.

With regard to Al Baraha Garden, Al Muhannadi explained that it is considered the first of its kind in Al-Khor, as it was designed in a heritage style to serve the Al-Baraha garden. It is characterized by the fact that its floor is made entirely of washed sand, and there are no cosmetic plants in it except for the fence that has been planted with bougainvillea trees,

The park contains a large canopy for games, which includes a group of modern and traditional games, pointing out that the park area is 1,560 square meters, and he noted that it was named Al Baraha Park because it contains popular games.

He added: The three gardens that were opened yesterday are gardens without fences. Al-Muraikhi told Al-Raya: The three parks that were inaugurated yesterday under the auspices of the Laffan Social Networking Program are just a model for a series of projects that the program has supported in Al-Khor over the past years. Pointing out that the three parks are a new addition to the beautification plans in the city of Al-Khor, especially in light of hosting one of the most prominent stadiums for the World Cup 2022, which is Al-Bayt Stadium.

Abdullah Makled Al-Muraikhi praised the great efforts made by Al-Khor Municipality in taking care of the gardens and other projects that serve the people of the city, which contributed to giving this city a civilized appearance, making it an important tourist destination.

الدوحة: افتتحت بلديةُ الخور بالتعاون مع برنامج راس لفان للتواصل الاجتماعي أمس ثلاث حدائق في مدينة الخور وهي حدائق: العوينة والبراحة ومشروع تجميل مدخل الخور الشمالي، ما يُمثل إضافةً جديدةً لجهود التجميل المتواصلة في المدينة ومتنفسات متميّزة للأهالي من خلال زيادة المساحات الخضراء، وحضر الافتتاح السيد عبدالعزيز السيد مدير بلدية الخور بالإنابة، والشيخة دانة راشد آل ثاني كبير مسؤولي برنامج راس لفان للتواصل الاجتماعي، كما حضره السيد عبدالله مقلد المريخي عضو المجلس البلدي المركزي عن الخور، وعدد من مسؤولي البلدية.

وقال السيد عبدالله إبراهيم المهندي رئيس قسم الحدائق العامّة ببلدية الخور في تصريحات خاصة لـ الراية: إن الحدائق الثلاث تم إنشاؤها بالتعاون مع برنامج راس لفان للتواصل الاجتماعي، وتم فتحها خلال الفترة الماضية بشكل تجريبي، إلا أنه تم أمس افتتاحها بشكل رسمي، مضيفًا: إن مواقع الحدائق الثلاث كانت في السابق عبارة عن أرض خالية تشوّه المنظر العام في مدينة الخور، إلا أنه بعد تحويلها إلى حدائق عامة أضافت لمسة حضارية جديدة للمدينة، وأشار إلى أنه فيما يتعلق بحديقة مدخل الخور الشمالي، تبلغ مساحتها خلال الفترة الماضية 42 ألف متر مربع وهي عبارة عن مساحات خضراء بمستويات مختلفة، وتضم مجموعة كبيرة من الأشجار وممشى في الوسط بطول 600 متر، وتضم 7 برجولات بأشكال مختلفة كاستراحة للزوّار وهي مزوّدة بإضاءة هادئة.

أما الحديقة الثانية وهي حديقة العوينة فتبلغ مساحتها 22 ألف متر مربع وتضم مسطحاً أخضر مساحته 18 ألف متر مربع ويحيط بها ممشى بطول 500 متر مع عدد كبير من الأشجار المحليّة، كما تضم مظلة صغيرة كاستراحة للزوّار.

وفيما يتعلق بحديقة البراحة أوضح المهندي أنها تعتبر الأولى من نوعها في الخور، حيث تمّ تصميمها بشكل تراثي لخدمة الفريج الموجودة به، وتتميز بأن أرضيتها بالكامل من الرمل المغسول، ولا توجد بها أي زراعات تجميلية سوى السور الذي تم تشجيره بأشجار الجهنمية،

وتحتوي الحديقة على مظلة كبيرة للألعاب التي تشمل مجموعة من الألعاب الحديثة والألعاب التراثية، لافتاً إلى أن مساحة الحديقة تبلغ 1560 متراً مربعاً، ونوّه بأنه تمت تسميتها بحديقة البراحة لأنها تحتوي على ألعاب شعبية، مضيفاً: إن الحدائق الثلاث التي تم افتتاحها أمس هي حدائق بلا أسوار. وقال المريخي لـ الراية: إن الحدائق الثلاث التي تمّ تدشينها أمس برعاية برنامج لفان للتواصل الاجتماعي ليست سوى نموذج لسلسلة من المشروعات التي قام البرنامج بدعمها في الخور على مدار الأعوام الماضية،

لافتًا إلى أن الحدائق الثلاث إضافة جديدة لخطط التجميل بمدينة الخور لا سيما في ظل احتضانها أحد أبرز ملاعب مونديال كأس العالم 2022 وهو استاد البيت.

وأشاد عبدالله مقلد المريخي بالجهود الكبيرة التي تقوم بها بلدية الخور في الاهتمام بالحدائق وغيرها من المشروعات الأخرى التي تخدم أهالي المدينة، الأمر الذي ساهم في إضفاء هذا المظهر الحضاري على المدينة، ما يجعلها مقصدًا سياحيًا هامًا.
