Al Shaqab Completes Arrangements for Longines Global Champions Tour

Doha: Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced the completion of the arrangements for the 2022 Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL seasons, which Thursday with the participation of the best riders in the world.

Al Shaqab is the launchpad for the new season which will see 51 riders from 19 different countries take on the best of the best in Qatars capital city from 3 – 5 March. It will be a weekend full of high-stake competitions under the stunning soaring architecture of the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab. Today the opening press conference took place setting the scene for an electrifying weekend of top-level sport.

In a press conference held today, Event Director, Omar Al Mannai, spoke of hosting the event in Doha for the 15th year saying, “This has become an annual event in Doha since it started in 2008. Here at Al Shaqab, it is the best facilities ever for this kind of sport and the perfect venue to kick off the Longines Global Champions Tour. The growth of the sport has been tremendous in Qatar and that is why the leading riders love competing here.”

Al Mannai affirmed that the tournaments organizing committee completed all the arrangements for the start of the tournament, according to strict precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all participants, especially as it will witness the participation of 51 of the most prominent knights ranked in the world, as they will compete in the five-star category rounds that It will be held throughout the tournament.

Event Director indicated that the championship will witness the participation of the Swedish Peder Frederickson, ranked number one in the world, and German Marcus Ehning, who won the Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines a few days ago.

Al Shaqab aspires to develop riders in Qatar and to create distinguished generations in the Qatari equestrian, which has recently occupied a prominent position at the global level, and where Al Shaqab owns a full-service academy for future riders aimed at educating and promoting equestrianism and the love of equestrian sport, Al Mannai added.

He revealed that this tournament will witness the participation of three Qataris, “Faleh Al Ajmi, Nasser Al Ghazali, and Hamad Al Qadi” in the 5-star category. The presence of these riders in this international championship confirms the success of the local Qatari Equestrian League in show jumping and dressage under the name of “Longines Hathab” championship, which is being held this year for the fifth time in a row.

LGCT and GCL President and Founder, Jan Tops spoke of the ever-increasing following that the tour has amassed; “Every year the level of competition raises on our circuit. We saw last year, Peder Fredricson, team Olympic champion and reserve Olympic champion winning the individual circuit. Riders have been preparing for this season for the past two months which means they want to win the championship a lot. It is already difficult to win one leg but to win the championship you have to have a unique horse or horses and a unique rider. Everybody is really focused to win the Longines Global Champions Tour and obviously, we cannot do it without the support of our partners during the year and especially Longines who has been with us for many years.”

Speaking about the GCL team series Tops added, “People are now seeing that the format and the League is really working and behind the scenes, people are trying to find the right riders to sign up. It has become like the soccer games where you get these teams working together to win overall. This year we have three new teams and you can see that the new format is really working which is going to be very important for equestrian sport in the future.”

This season will see a new time fault rule come into play which will be extra crucial in the GCL team classes where all time and faults are added together. Sports Director Marco Danese, explained why it will be so important this season, “It will be interesting. We will see the consequence of the new rule in the team competition. The change is significant, its a huge change so now the time fault will become a very important part of the strategy and we know that especially the team competition sometimes the rider is going slowly to be sure of a clear for the team.”

Al Shaqab is known for its phenomenal facilities for horses, riders, grooms, owners and spectators. Marco Danese went on to add, “Every year the team of Al Shaqab find a way to improve the facilities and the facilities here are exceptional, the best in the world. First of all for the horses which is the most important part for us as you know. And all the facilities, stables, arenas but also behind the scenes. Everything is prepared to be the best for the horses and for the riders everything goes in the perfect way. Fans around the world will be able to watch all the action live on GCTV throughout the weekend. The first round of the GCL team competition will begin at 18,10 (local time) on Thursday, with all the teams looking for a good start to their campaign in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Friday will see two top-level competitions before the second round of the GCL competition takes place at 14,40 on Saturday. The LGCT Grand Prix of Doha kicks off at 18,00 on Saturday, with riders vying for the win as well as the first golden ticket to the LGCT Super Grand Prix at the GC Prague Playoffs.

الدوحة: أعلن /الشقب/، عضو مؤسسة قطر، عن اكتمال ترتيبات انطلاق الجولة الافتتاحية من جولات /لونجين/ لأبطال قفز الحواجز لعام 2022 للفردي، ودوري الأبطال 2022 للفرق التي ستقام على مدار ثلاثة أيام بميدان /لونجين/ الخارجي بـ/الشقب/، بداية من بعد غد /الخميس/ بمشاركة أفضل فرسان العالم.

وأكد السيد عمر المناعي ،مدير البطولة، والمدير التجاري للشقب في مؤتمر صحفي عقد اليوم، أن اللجنة المنظمة للبطولة أكملت كافة الترتيبات الخاصة بانطلاق البطولة، وذلك وفق إجراءات احترازية مشددة لضمان سلامة كل المشاركين فيها، خاصة أنها ستشهد مشاركة 51 فارسا وفارسة من أبرز الفرسان المصنفين في العالم، حيث سيتنافسون على جولات فئة الخمس نجوم التي ستقام على مدار البطولة.

وأشار عمر المناعي ،إلى أن البطولة ستشهد مشاركة الفارس السويدي بيدر فريدريكسون المصنف الأول عالميًا والألماني ماركوس إينينج الفائز منذ أيام قليلة بلقب بطولة البنك التجاري الدولية للفروسية الشقب برعاية لونجين.

وقال إن ميدان لونجين في الشقب هو المكان الأمثل لانطلاقة أولى جولات البطولة العالمية، التي تقام للمرة الـ15 في قطر حيث بدأت البطولة منذ العام 2008 في الاتحاد القطري للفروسية ومن بعده انتقلت للشقب لتصبح البطولة بتواجدها في الشقب جولة أساسية ضمن الرزنامة العالمية، وتعد الأفضل في جميع أنحاء العالم كوجهة دولية رائدة للفروسية حيث إن المرافق التي تقام عليها المنافسات بالشقب ذات مستوى عال من الجودة .

وأضاف أن الشقب يتطلع لتطوير الفرسان في قطر ولصنع أجيال متميزة في الفروسية القطرية التي أصبحت في الفترة الأخيرة تحتل مركزا مرموقا على المستوى العالمي وحيث يمتلك الشقب أكاديمية لفرسان المستقبل، كاملة الخدمات تهدف إلى تثقيف وتعزيز الفروسية وحب رياضة الفروسية.

وكشف أن هذه البطولة ستشهد مشاركة ثلاثة من الفرسان القطريين، وهم “فالح العجمي، وناصر الغزالي، وحمد القاضي” في فئة 5 نجوم. وأن تواجد هؤلاء الفرسان في هذه البطولة العالمية يؤكد نجاح الدوري المحلي للفروسية القطرية في قفز الحواجز والترويض تحت مسمى بطولة /لونجين هذاب/ الذي يقام في هذه السنة للمرة الخامسة على التوالي.

ومن جانبه، أشاد السيد جان توبس، رئيس جولات لونجين العالمية لأبطال قفز الحواجز ودوري الأبطال العالمي، بـ/الشقب/ وتميز المنشآت الموجودة فيه التي تعد دوما مكانا مميزا للفرسان للتنافس على بطولاته، ولعمله الدؤوب على توفير كافة الاحتياجات الخاصة بالفرسان من خلال أماكن استثنائية مخصصة لأحداث الفروسية الكبرى.

وأضاف أن /الشقب/ يتمتع بفريق عمل متميز، يحرص على الاهتمام بكافة التفاصيل وبكل ما يتعلق بالفرسان والخيل منذ اللحظة الأولى لقدومهم إلى دولة قطر، مشيرا إلى وجود تعاون مشترك قائم بين /الشقب/ و/جلوبال تور/ منذ وقت طويل نتج عنه نجاح مستمر في كل الفعاليات المشتركة حيث ستقام البطولة للمرة الـ15 في قطر في ظل شراكة استراتيجية بين الطرفين تهدف إلى تطور الفروسية القطرية التي حققت العديد من الإنجازات في الفترة الماضية وصلت إلى دورة الألعاب الأولمبية وفازت بعدد من الألقاب عالميا وإقليميا. ولافتا إلى أن فرسان قطر تنتظرهم مهمة صعبة جدا من أجل التأهل إلى دورة الألعاب الأولمبية /باريس 2024/.

ومن ناحيته، اعتبر السيد ماركو دينيس المدير الرياضي للبطولة، أن /الشقب/ مكان رائع ونموذجي لممارسة رياضة الفروسية، قائلا في كلمة له في المؤتمر الصحفي “نقوم بعمل مشترك مع نظرائنا في /الشقب/ الذين يقومون، في كل عام، بشيء جديد ومميز بداية من ترتيبات السفر والإعاشة وكل التفاصيل، ونعلم الجهود الكبيرة التي يبذلونها لخروج الفعاليات في أفضل صورة.. وأتابع سنويا السعادة البالغة للفرسان عند حضورهم للتنافس في قطر داخل منشآت هذا الفضاء الرائع الذي يحتضن مكانا نموذجيا للتنافس والإبداع، وفضاء مميزا لإقامة وإعاشة الخيل المشاركة التي تتمتع بعناية صحية وبيطرية مميزة”.

وأضاف “كل شيء مثالي للتنافس الرياضي والتألق هنا، ولا أعتقد أنه يوجد مكان آخر مثل /الشقب/ يتمتع بهذه الإمكانيات الرائعة والمميزة”، معربا عن توقعه بأن تأتي منافسات هذا العام مثيرة، لاسيما أنها تقام بمرافق عملاقة تعد هي الأفضل في العالم على كافة المستويات سواء الإسطبلات أو المضمار أو الميادين، وكذلك العيادة البيطرية المتميزة.

وتعليقاً على تغيير بعض اللوائح والقوانين في دوري الأبطال للفرق.. قال المدير الرياضي في لونجين، بالفعل هناك تعديلات في بعض القوانين، وأعتقد أنها ستزيد من شدة المنافسة لأنه في السابق كان الفرسان يتسابقون بنوع من البطء لضمان الحصول على النقاط، ولكن الوضع الآن تغير بعد التعديل، وبالتالي من المؤكد أنهم سيغيرون استراتيجيتهم وستزداد المنافسة قوة، في ظل مشاركة نخبة من أفضل الفرسان في العالم في الجولة المقبلة بالشقب.
