Al-Sharq learned that work on the second phase (the Blue Line) of the Doha Metro project will start immediately after the end of the World Cup. Informed sources indicated that the project includes the construction of a semi-circular line linking the residential and commercial areas in West Bay, the airport, and vital parts in separate areas of Doha.
The sources revealed to Al-Sharq that the blue line stations are: the hotel garden, the Doha Exhibition Center (interchange station with the Red Line), West Bay, Qatar Club and Wadi Al-Sail, Hamad Medical City (interchange station with the Green Line), and Al-Sadd (interchange station with the Green Line). The Golden Line, Al Muntazah, Najma, Umm Ghuwailina, and Ras Bu Aboud Station (Hamad Airport Terminal 2), and the sources said that the new line is expected to open by 2026.
The first phase of the project saw the construction of 37 stations, with three lines in different colours, namely red, green and gold, operating on a 76-kilometre network.
The metro trains can travel 100 kilometers per hour, and it is fully equipped with CCTV and internet systems, and has USB ports, so that Gold Class passengers can charge their mobile phones and tablets.

علمت الشرق أن العمل في المرحلة الثانية (الخط الأزرق) لمشروع مترو الدوحة سيبدأ بعد انتهاء كأس العالم مباشرة. وأشارت مصادر مطلعة إلى أن المشروع يتضمن انشاء خط شبه دائري يربط بين المناطق السكنية والتجارية في الخليج الغربي والمطار واجزاء حيوية في مناطق متفرقة من الدوحة.
وكشفت المصادر لـ “الشرق” أن محطات الخط الأزرق هي: حديقة الفندق، ومركز الدوحة للمعارض (محطة تبادل مع الخط الأحمر)، والخليج الغربي، ونادي قطر ووادي السيل، ومدينة حمد الطبية (محطة تبادل مع الخط الأخضر)، والسد (محطة تبادل مع الخط الذهبي)، والمنتزه، ونجمة، وأم غويلينه، ومحطة ابو عبود (مبنى مطار حمد صالة 2)، وقالت المصادر إنه من المتوقع افتتاح الخط الجديد بحلول عام 2026.
وشهدت المرحلة الأولى من المشروع إنشاء 37 محطة، مع وجود ثلاثة خطوط بألوان مختلفة، وهي الأحمر، والأخضر، والذهبي، حيث تعمل على شبكة طولها 76 كيلومترًا.
وتستطيع قطارات المترو أن تقطع 100 كيلومتر في الساعة، وهي مجهزة بالكامل بأنظمة CCTV وشبكة الإنترنت، ويوجد بها منافذ USB، حتى يستطيع الركاب من الدرجة الذهبية شحن هواتفهم المحمولة، وأجهزتهم اللوحية.
