Doha: The impact of global inflation and rising consumer prices on the majority of Qatar’s population, while some often ask why prices are so high, is it because the greedy traders for record profits, consumer culture, the inability of consumers to boycott certain items or buy alternative products?
Qatar is not the only one suffering from the effects of inflation that has affected the most important commodities in the global economy in an unprecedented way, while booming demand and lack of supply threaten to exacerbate inflationary pressures around the world.
Some blamed the consumer as the main reason for the rise in prices, stressing that some people’s dependence on certain consumer culture products and not searching for an alternative to goods whose price has risen, is a major reason for encouraging merchants to raise prices.
Others rejected the idea of boycotting, especially if products had no real alternatives, and many stressed that consumers may be guilty of products classified as luxuries, but with everyday products the consumer has no choice.
Many accused merchants of being the cause of any crises or rise in prices, stressing that some of them sought to achieve the maximum possible profit regardless of the real prices of the products, and many confirmed that they resort to buying products via electronic applications outside Qatar, which are usually cheaper.
While some traders rejected these accusations, stressing that production costs have risen significantly in recent months, and one of the traders said that the record rise in rents, in addition to the increase in shipping costs globally, was a major reason for the increase in the final cost of product prices, and some demanded to raise the issue of rising rent prices and provide new commercial streets to increase competition among traders.

أثر التضخم العالمي وارتفاع أسعار السلع الاستهلاكية على غالبية سكان قطر، وكثيرا ما يطرح البعض سؤال عن السبب الرئيسي في غلاء الأسعار هل هم التجار والجشع في تحقيق أرباح قياسية، أم هي الثقافة الاستهلاكية وعدم قدرة المستهلكين على تنفيذ حملات مقاطعة أو شراء منتجات بديلة.
ولا تعاني قطر وحدها من أثار التضخم بل أثر على أهم السلع في الاقتصاد العالمي على نحو غير مسبوق، في حين يهدد ازدهار الطلب ونقص العرض بتفاقم الضغوط التضخمية في جميع أنحاء العالم.
وحمل البعض المستهلك السبب الرئيسي في ارتفاع الأسعار، مؤكدين أن اعتماد البعض على الثقافة الاستهلاكية وعدم البحث عن بديل للسلع التي ارتفع سعرها، يعد سببا رئيسي في تشجيع التجار على رفع الأسعار.
فيما رفض البعض الأخر فكرة المقاطعة، خاصة إذا كان المنتجات لا يوجد لها بدائل حقيقية، وشدد كثيرون على أن المستهلك قد يكون مذنبا في المنتجات التي تصنف على أنها كماليات، ولكن في المنتجات اليومية لا يملك المستهلك أي اختيار.
واتهم كثيرون التجار بالوقوف وراء أي أزمات أو ارتفاع في الأسعار، مؤكدين أن سعي البعض منهم لتحقيق أقصى ربح ممكن بغض النظر عن الاسعار الحقيقية للمنتجات، وأكد كثيرون أنهم يلجأون لشراء المنتجات عن طريق التطبيقات الإلكترونية خارج قطر والتي ما تكون عادة أرخص سعرا.
فيما رفض بعض التجار هذه الاتهامات مؤكدين أن تكاليف الانتاج ارتفعت بشكل كبير خلال الشهور الأخيرة، وقال أحد التجار إن ارتفاع الإيجارات بشكل قياسي، بالإضافة لزيادة مصاريف الشحن عالميا، كان سببا رئيسيا في ارتفاع التكلفة النهائية لأسعار المنتجات، وطالب البعض بطرح قضية ارتفاع أسعارا الإيجارات وتوفير شوارع تجارية جديدة لزيادة المنافسة بين التجار.
وتسبب ارتفاع تكلفة الشحن عالميا في ارتفاع الأسعار بشكل غير مسبوق في العالم كله، حيث ارتفعت قيمة الشحن بشكل قياسي، في ظل أزمة سلاسل التوريد والإمداد العالمي، وكشف صندوق النقد الدولي أن ارتفاع كلفة الشحن خلال العام الماضي، دفع المستهلكين إلى الإفراج عن مدخراتهم المكبوتة لشراء سلع جديدة، بينما استمر الوباء في إزعاج سلاسل التوريد العالمية، وتضاعفت معدلات الحاويات أكثر من أربع مرات منذ بداية ظهور جائحة كورونا، مع تركيز بعض أكبر المكاسب في الأرباع الثلاثة الأولى من العام الماضي.
