After the complete lift of precautionary measures in several European countries, will Qatar be next?

Since the emergence of the first case of coronavirus in Qatar on February 29, 2020 until the time of writing these words, people have not stopped wondering about the appropriate time during which all precautionary measures related to combating the spread of this pandemic will be lifted.

There is a general perception that coexistence with the virus is proving to be effective over time, particularly with high rates of vaccine receipts and lower rates of critical cases and deaths compared to infections, in addition to a near-total lifting of these precautionary measures.

Countries known for the strength and rootedness of their health system, such as Britain, France, Denmark and Norway, and their almost complete lifting of these measures makes the observers wonder about the appropriate time and conditions to take this step.

During last January, Britain canceled most of the local restrictions, and face masks are no longer mandatory in most closed places in England, and the requirement to present vaccination cards to enter nightclubs and large-scale events, as well as the official directive to work from home, was abolished.

A week ago, vaccinated travelers could enter Britain without taking any PCR tests.

On the same day, France followed the example of its northern neighbor, where the French authorities announced that there is no more need for those coming to the country, who have a vaccination certificate, to take a PCR test, since last Saturday, and in early February, France lifted many restrictions, so people abandoned face masks in open spaces.

In addition to abandoning face masks, the decision to lift health restrictions allowed several things; Such as resuming concerts in which attendees can stand, and as for working remotely, it will become recommended, and not mandatory for institutions and administrations.

France and Britain’s steps come in light of the decrease in the number of people infected with Coronavirus compared to the previous period, which witnessed record numbers that coincided with the celebrations of the end of the year.

North in Norway, the Norwegian authorities announced the lifting of all basic anti-Coronavirus restrictions due to the receding of the pandemic threat, although the “Omicron” variant is still spreading in the country, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, said during a press conference in Oslo, on Saturday 12 February, ” This is the day we’ve been waiting for, and we’ve started lifting almost all restrictions.”

Where as of that date, Norwegians are no longer required to wear face masks in crowded places and the one-metre distancing rule has been scrapped. In addition, self-quarantine requirements are lifted and replaced by the recommendation that the infected adults remain at home for four days.

Denmark has preceded all of these countries in lifting all precautionary measures since the beginning of the year, as Danes are no longer obliged to wear face masks or present negative tests for coronavirus after the country announced the lifting of all restrictions imposed during the pandemic. This also means the return of nightclubs’ parties and sports fields’ celebrations.

We will say goodbye to the restrictions and welcome to the life we lived before the Coronavirus,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced earlier this year that the coronavirus restrictions that existed in the country had been lifted.

The Danes strongly welcomed these decisions and their comments, quoted by local media, confirmed that they now see the Coronavirus as more likely to be a “cold”, people will all get infected with it and then it’s all over.

Meanwhile in the Arab world, last Tuesday, Kuwait announced the lifting of the coronavirus restrictions and took a series of new measures that lead to the pandemic’s page and moving on to coexist with it.

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Rai, the government has taken a series of measures to regroup in mosques, open commercial complexes to all, and eliminate distancing in cinemas, theatres and concerts for vaccinated people, while unvaccinated people can enter with a negative PCR result.

Kuwait will resume the normal working system in all government agencies, starting from Sunday, March 13, and will cancel the weekly rapid tests for students under 16 years of age, supporting the full return to school, allowing everyone to travel, cancelling the PCR test before returning for vaccinated and semi-vaccinated, operating flights without a maximum number of seats and cancelling the quarantine after traveling for the vaccinated.

It appears from these data that the various administrations in the world tend to coexist with the virus, which makes people look at all these experiences with anticipation and wait for what those decisions will lead to.

Locally, Qatar has recorded less than 500 cases over the past five days, with Qatar on Friday registering 452 cases, and taking accelerated steps in receiving vaccinations. As 6196050 doses of Covid-19 vaccines has been given to community members since the beginning of the vaccination program.

87.6% of the total population received two doses of the vaccine, reflecting a significant commitment by the health institution to its responsibilities and a response by members of the community to precautionary measures.

منذ ظهور أول حالة مصابة بفيروس كورونا بقطر في 29 فبراير 2020 وحتى وقت كتابة هذه الكلمات، لم يتوقف المتابعون عن التساؤل حول الوقت المناسب الذي سيتم خلاله رفع كافة الإجراءات الاحترازات المتعلقة بجهود مكافحة توسع تلك الجائحة.

وهناك تصور عام صار يترسخ لدى العالم بأن التعايش مع الفيروس تثبت نجاعته مع الوقت خصوصا مع ارتفاع معدلات تلقي لقاح الفيروس وانخفاض معدلات الحالات الحرجة والوفيات مقارنة بالإصابات، إضافة إلى ذلك قيام برفع شبه كامل لتلك الإجراءات الاحترازية.

دول معروف عنها قوة وتأصل نظامها الصحي كبريطانيا وفرنسا والدانمارك والنرويج، ورفعها شبه الكامل لتلك الإجراءات يجعل المتابعون يتساءلون حول الوقت والظروف المناسبة للقيام بتلك الخطوة.

فبريطانيا وخلال شهر يناير الماضي ألغت معظم القيود المحلية، ولم يعد وضع الكمامة إلزاميا في معظم الأماكن المغلقة في إنجلترا، كما ألغي شرط إبراز بطاقات تلقي اللقاح لدخول النوادي الليلية والفعاليات واسعة النطاق، وكذلك التوجيه الرسمي بالعمل من المنزل.

ومنذ أسبوع أصبح يمكن للمسافرين المطعمين دخول بريطانيا بدون إجراء أي اختبارات لفيروس كورونا PCR.

وفي نفس اليوم حذت فرنسا حذو جارتها الشمالية وأعلنت السلطات الفرنسية أنه لا حاجة للقادمين إلى البلاد، الحاصلون على شهادة تلقيح، لإجراء فحص الـ PCR ، ابتداء من السبت الماضي.

ومطلع فبراير الجاري رفعت فرنسا كثيرا من القيود، فتخلى الناس عن الكمامة في الأماكن المفتوحة.

وفضلا عن التخلي عن الكمامة، أتاح قرار رفع القيود الصحية عدة أمور؛ مثل استئناف الحفلات الموسيقية التي يستطيع الحضور فيها الوقوف، وأما العمل عن بعد فسيصبح منصوحا به، وليس إلزاميا بالنسبة للمؤسسات والإدارات.

وتأتي خطوات فرنسا وبريطانيا في ظل انخفاض أعداد المصابين بكورونا مقارنة بالفترة السابقة التي شهدت أرقاما قياسية تزامنت مع الاحتفالات بعطلة نهاية العام.

شمالًا في النرويج، أعلنت السلطات النرويجية رفع جميع قيود مكافحة كورونا الأساسية نظرا لانحسار خطر الجائحة، رغم أن متحور “أوميكرون” لا يزال ينتشر في البلاد، وقال رئيس الوزراء النرويجي يوناس جار ستوير، خلال مؤتمر صحفي في أوسلو، يوم السبت 12 فبراير، “هذا هو اليوم الذي كنا ننتظره، وباشرنا رفع جميع القيود تقريبًا”.

النرويجيون واعتبارًا من ذلك التاريخ لم يعد مطلوبًا منهم ارتداء أقنعة الوجه في الأماكن المزدحمة وتم إلغاء قاعدة التباعد مترا واحدا بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يتم رفع متطلبات العزل الذاتي واستبدالها بالتوصية بأن يظل البالغون المصابون في المنزل لمدة أربعة أيام.

“سنقول وداعا للقيود ومرحبا بالحياة التي كنا نعيشها قبل كورونا” بهذه العبارة أعلنت رئيسة الوزراء الدنماركية ميت فريديركسن مطلع العام الجاري، إلغاء القيود التي كانت موجودة في البلاد بسبب وباء كورونا.

الدنماركيون رحبوا بشدة بهذه القرارات وأكدت تعليقاتهم التي نقلتها وسائل إعلام محلية أنهم صاروا ينظرون لفيروس كورونا على أنه أصبح مثل “الزكام” سابقًا، سيصابون جميعًا به وبعدها ينتهي كل شيء.

عربيًا، أعلنت الكويت يوم الثلاثاء الماضي رفع قيود مواجهة فيروس كورونا واتخاذ سلسلة إجراءات جديدة تؤدي إلى طي صفحة الجائحة والانتقال للتعايش معها.

فبحسب صحيفة الراي الكويتية اتخذت الحكومة سلسلة إجراءات تتمثل بعودة رص الصفوف في المساجد وفتح المجمعات التجارية أمام الجميع، وإلغاء التباعد في قاعات السينما والمسارح والحفلات للمحصنين، فيما غير المحصنين يدخلون بـPCR سلبي النتيجة.

وأعادت الكويت العمل بنظام الدوام المعتاد في جميع الجهات الحكومية اعتبارا من الأحد 13 مارس المقبل، وألغت الفحص الأسبوعي للطلبة دون 16 سنة ودعمت العودة الشاملة لدوامات المدارس، وسمحت للجميع بالسفر وإلغاء شرط الـPCR قبل العودة للمحصن وغير مكتمل التحصين، وتشغيل رحلات الطيران بلا حد أقصى لعدد المقاعد وإلغاء الحجر بعد السفر عن المحصنين.

ويبدو من تلك المعطيات أن الإدارات المختلفة التوجهات في العالم تتجه إلى التعايش مع الفيروس، ما يجعل المتابعون ينظرون لكل هذه التجارب نظرة الترقب وانتظار ما ستؤول إليه تلك القرارات.

محليًا تستمر قطر على مدى الأيام الخمسة السابقة تسجيل ما دون 500 حالة، فاليوم الجمعة سجلت قطر 452 حالة، وتخطو خطوات متسارعة في مجال تلقي التطعيمات فقد تم إعطاء 6196050 جرعة من لقاحات كوفيد-19، لأفراد المجتمع منذ بداية برنامج التطعيم وتلقى 87.6% من إجمالي السكان جرعتين من اللقاح، ما يعكس التزامًا كبيرًا من قبل المؤسسة الصحية بمسؤولياتها واستجابة من قبل أفراد المجتمع من جهة أخرى بالإجراءات الاحترازية.
