Temporary closure won’t stop the food expiration date manipulators: Citizens

Doha: Businessmen, lawyers and citizens called on the concerned authorities to tighten the penalties stipulated in the law, with regard to selling spoiled foodstuffs and tampering with their expiry dates, which states for the administrative closure of the store or the place where the violation occurred, temporarily for a period of one, two or three months, noting that these penalties are not deterring them properly.
They stressed to Al-Raya that selling spoiled foodstuffs and tampering with their expiry dates are very serious crimes, given the repercussions they may have on the health of society members, both citizens and residents, noting that the weakness of the penalties stipulated in the law in relation to these crimes encourages violators to repeat their crimes.
They called on all concerned authorities to tighten control over local companies that produce goods for global brands with the permission of their parent companies.
They noted that some of these goods are often of lower quality than their international counterparts, calling on the concerned authorities to blacklist violators and to focus during their inspection campaigns on large companies as the primary supplier of all food items and not just punishing small food shops and establishments.

الدوحة: دعا رجالُ أعمالٍ ومُحامون ومُواطنون الجهات المعنية إلى ضرورة تشديد العقوبات الواردة في القانون، فيما يتعلّق ببيع موادّ غذائيّة، فاسدة والتلاعب في تواريخ صلاحيّتها والتي تنصّ على الغلق الإداري للمحلّ أو المكان الذي وقعت فيه المُخالفة، بصفة مؤقتة لمدة شهر أو شهرَين أو ثلاثة، مشيرين إلى أنّ هذه العقوبات غير رادعة.
وأكّدوا لـ الراية أنَّ بيع الموادّ الغذائية الفاسدة والتلاعب في تواريخ صلاحيّتها من الجرائم بالغة الخطورة نظرًا لما قد يترتّب عليها من تداعيات على صحة أفراد المجتمع من مُواطنين ومُقيمين، لافتين إلى أنَّ ضعف العقوبات الواردة في القانون فيما يتعلّق بهذه الجرائم يشجّع المُخالفين على تَكرار ارتكاب جرائمهم.
ودعوا كافّة الجهات المعنية إلى تشديد الرقابة على الشّركات المحلية التي تقوم بإنتاج سلع لماركات عالمية بتصريح من شركاتها الأمّ.
ونوهوا بأنَّ بعض هذه السلع تكون جودتها في الكثير من الأحيان أقلّ من مثيلاتها العالمية، مُطالبين الجهات المعنية بوضع قائمة سوداء للمخالفين والتركيز خلال حملاتها التفتيشيّة على الشركات الكبيرة باعتبارها المورد الأساسي لكافة الموادالغذائية وعدم الاكتفاء بالمحال والمنشآت الغذائية الصّغيرة التي ليست سوى مُنشآت محدودة.
