Streets and gardens adorned with poisonous plants

Doha: Experts and citizens have warned of the dangers of cultivating poisonous ornamental plants, in public and home gardens, especially the oleander, for the danger it poses to human life.

They assured to Al-Raya that despite the aesthetic appearance of these plants, there are fears that children will eat them and that non-specialists will use them within herbal remedy mixtures.

They stressed that the “oleander”, which is widely cultivated in parks, government facilities and houses, is characterized by its wonderful aesthetic appearance,

They stressed the need to spread awareness and knowledge of the toxicity of these plants and not to expand in their cultivation.

الدوحة: حذّرَ خبراء ومواطنون من خطورة زراعة نباتات الزينة السامة، وفي مقدمتها «الدفلة» في الحدائق العامة وحدائق المنازل ولما تشكّله من خطورة على حياة البشر.

وأكّدوا لـ الراية أنّه رغم ما تعكسه تلك النباتات من مظهر جمالي إلا أنّ هناك مخاوفَ من أن يتناولها الأطفال وأن يتعامل بها غير المُتخصصين ضمن خلطات التداوي بالأعشاب.

وأكّدوا أنَّ «الدفلة» التي تنتشر زراعتها بشكل كبير في الحدائق العامة والمنشآت الحكومية والمنازل تتميّز بكونها نباتات ذات مظهر جمالي رائع، داعين إلى ضرورة نشر الوعي والثقافة بسمّية هذه النباتات وعدم التوسّع في زراعتها.
