Dr. Hamad Al-Rumaihi: Beware of rumors, The booster dose is safe

Doha: Dr. Hamad Eid al-Rumaihi, Director of the Department of Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control at the Ministry of Public Health, advised all members of the community not to be led by rumors about the third booster doses, stressing that they are safe and their symptoms are no different from the symptoms of the previous two doses, which are simple symptoms that do not exceed pain in the injection place, and sometimes there is a slight rise in temperature.

He said in remarks to Al-Raya: “One must be careful in obtaining information from its reliable sources,” explaining that the Ministry of Public Health has spared no effort in providing the best global vaccines that prove to be the most effective in the world among other vaccines, and that the ministry is keen on preserving the health of its society members, and therefore investigates accuracy and documented scientific studies when presenting any health evidence or guidelines of any kind.

He stressed that scientific evidence now indicates that the effectiveness of preventive immunity against infection obtained from the first two doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 is gradually declining for most people who have received their two doses of vaccination, supporting the need to receive a booster dose of the vaccine six months after the second dose of the vaccine to restore immunity against the virus to its previous levels.

He explained that after recently monitoring an increase in the number of infected cases in Qatar and the discovery of the first cases of the new “Omicron” variant in the country, it is important that all members of the community continue to play their part by obtaining a booster vaccine dose, where recent studies indicate that booster doses are very effective in preventing severe infection cases caused by this mutation.

He assured everyone that no deaths or serious symptoms had occurred as a result of receiving the vaccine against the “Covid-19” virus in the State of Qatar in all doses.

Dr. Al-Rumaihi continued that the national vaccination program has managed to cover 86% of the community members who received both doses, which has had a significant impact on the decline in infection rates during the previous period in Qatar compared to other countries around the world, demonstrating the efficacy of the vaccine in preventing infection and its spread.

“So far, about 200,000 people have received the third booster dose against the virus, which studies have revealed provides 75% immunity against the Omicron, the new covid-19 variant”. He continued.

He also stressed that the Ministry of Public Health, through the health centers of the Primary Health Care Corporation, provides the third booster dose of the “Covid-19” vaccine to all people who have received the second dose of the vaccine six months ago.

pointing out that there is no 100% effective vaccine, as intensive clinical trials show the effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines by about 95% in preventing infection with the “Covid-19” virus that is accompanied by severe symptoms after taking the two doses, and that this level of effectiveness is considered to be high, and there are very few vaccinated people who contract COVID-19.

الدوحة: نصح الدكتور حمد عيد الرميحي، مدير حماية الصحة ومكافحة الأمراض الانتقاليّة بوزارة الصحة العامّة، جميع أفراد المجتمع بعدم الاستماع للشائعات المنتشرة حول الجرعة المعزّزة الثالثة، مؤكدًا أنها آمنة وأعراضها لا تختلف عن أعراض الجرعتين السابقتين، وهي أعراض بسيطة لا تتجاوز ألمًا في مكان الحقنة، وأحيانًا يوجد ارتفاع طفيف في الحرارة.

وقال في تصريحات لـ الراية: إنه يجب تحري الدقة في الحصول على المعلومات وأن تكون من مصادرها الموثوقة، موضحًا أن وزارة الصحة العامّة لم تدخّر جهدًا في توفير أفضل اللقاحات العالميّة التي تثبت أنها الأكثر فاعلية في العالم من بين اللقاحات الأخرى، وأن الوزارة حريصة على صحة أفراد المجتمع، وبالتالي فإنها تتحرّى الدقة والدراسات العلميّة الموثقة عند عرض أي دلائل أو إرشادات صحيّة من أي نوع.

وأكد أن الأدلة العلميّة حاليًا تشير إلى أن فاعلية المناعة الوقائيّة ضد العدوى التي تم الحصول عليها من أول جرعتين من اللقاح ضد فيروس كورونا «كوفيد-19» تنخفض تدريجيًا بالنسبة لمعظم الأشخاص الذين تلقوا التطعيم، ما يدعم الحاجة إلى تلقي جرعة معزّزة من اللقاح بعد مرور ستة أشهر من الجرعة الثانية لإعادة المناعة ضد الفيروس إلى مستوياتها السابقة.

وأوضح أنه بعد رصد زيادة في الفترة الأخيرة في عدد الحالات المصابة في دولة قطر واكتشاف حالات الإصابة الأولى بالمتحوّر الجديد «أوميكرون» في البلاد، فمن المهم أن يستمرّ جميع أفراد المجتمع في القيام بدورهم من خلال الحصول على جرعة اللقاح المعزّزة، حيث تشير الدراسات الحديثة إلى أن الجرعات المعززة فعّالة للغاية في منع العدوى الشديدة ضد هذا المتحوّر.

وطمأن الجميع بأنه لم تحدث أي حالة وفاة أو أعراض خطيرة نتيجة تلقي اللقاح ضد فيروس «كوفيد-19» في دولة قطر في جميع الجرعات.

وأكد أن البرنامج الوطني للتطعيم نجح في تغطية ما نسبته 86% من بين أفراد المجتمع من الذين تلقوا الجرعتين، وهو ما كان له تأثير كبير على تراجع مُعدلات الإصابة خلال الفترة السابقة في دولة قطر مقارنة بدول أخرى في جميع أنحاء العالم، ما يثبت نجاعة اللقاح في منع العدوى وانتشار الإصابات.

وتابع: إنه حتى الآن حصل حوالي 200 ألف شخص على الجرعة المعزّزة الثالثة ضد الفيروس، التي كشفت الدراسات أنها توفّر مناعة 75% ضد أوميكرون ذلك المتحرّر الجديد لفيروس «كوفيد-19».

وأكد أن وزارة الصحة العامّة توفّر من خلال المراكز الصحيّة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية الجرعة الثالثة المعزّزة من لقاح «كوفيد-19» لجميع الأشخاص الذين مضى على تلقيهم الجرعة الثانية من اللقاح ستة أشهر.

وأشار إلى أنه لا يوجد لقاح فعّال بنسبة 100٪، حيث تظهر التجارب السريرية المكثفة فاعلية لقاحَي فايزر- بيونتك ومودرنا بنسبة 95٪ تقريبًا في الوقاية من عدوى فيروس «كوفيد-19» المصحوبة بأعراض شديدة بعد أخذ الجرعتين، ويعد مستوى الفاعلية هذا عاليًا، ويوجد عدد قليل جدًا من الأشخاص الذين يتلقون اللقاح ويصابون ب «كوفيد-19».
