Scammers are exploiting the popularity of “Ehteraz”, be careful!

A number of the Ehteraz application users were exposed to a fraud attempt aimed at obtaining their personal and banking data for the purpose of fraud. Some said they had received anonymous calls falsely claiming to represent “Ehteraz” in a new ploy to manipulate and attempt to cyber-rob members of the community .
They explained that the fraudulent caller is taking advantage of the state of anxiety among some due to the Coronavirus epidemic, and deludes the targeted person that his Ehteraz is disabled, and that he will send one of the codes to his phone in order to reactivate it.
They continued: Of course, if he is informed of the code he is sending, phone, data and personal accounts are hacked.
MOI periodically broadcasts many awareness messages to members of the community regarding caution against falling prey to an electronic fraud process, alerting the need to be careful and not to provide personal data to unknown parties or to circulate OTP messages.
Lieutenant Fahd Ali Al-Nuaimi, an officer in the Department of Combating Economic and Cyber Crimes at the Ministry of Interior, warned in an interview on Qatar TV, that the methods of fraudsters are fixed through emails, but change according to events, and they took advantage of the Coronavirus pandemic and sent emails to register for the Coronavirus vaccination, for example. They also ask for the mobile number and personal ID, and a message is sent to the victim with an OTP code, and by opening it, the victim’s bank and WhatsApp data are obtained.

تعرض عدد من مستخدمي تطبيق احتراز لمحاولة احتيال تستهدف الحصول على بياناتهم الشخصية والبنكية بغرض النصب.
وقال بعضهم أنهم استقبلوا اتصالات من مجهولين يدعون زيفاً أنهم يمثلون تطبيق “احتراز” في حيلة جديدة للتلاعب ومحاولة السطو الالكتروني على أفراد المجتمع.
وأوضحوا أن المتصل المحتال يستغل حالة القلق لدى البعض بسبب وباء كورونا، ويوهم الشخص المستهدف أن تطبيق احتراز الخاص به معطل، وأنه سيرسل أحد الأكواد إلى هاتفه من أجل إعادة تفعيله.
وتابعوا: بالطبع إذا تم إبلاغه بالكود الذي يقوم هو بإرساله، تتم عملية قرصنة للهاتف والبيانات والحسابات الشخصية.
وتبث وزارة الداخلية بشكل دوري العديد من رسائل التوعية لأفراد المجتمع بشأن الحذر من الوقوع فريسة في عملية احتيال إلكترونية، منبهة على ضرورة أخذ الحيطة وعدم الإدلاء بالبيانات الشخصية لجهات غير معروفة أو تداول رسائل الـ OTP.
بدوره حذر الملازم أول فهد علي النعيمي، الضابط في إدارة مكافحة الجرائم الاقتصادية والإلكترونية بوزارة الداخلية في لقاء عبر تلفزيون قطر، من أن أساليب المحتالين ثابتة عبر الرسائل الإلكترونية ولكن تتغير حسب الأحداث، وقد استغلوا جائحة كورونا وأرسلوا رسائل إلكترونية للتسجيل في تطعيم كورونا على سبيل المثال، كما يطلبون رقم الجوال والبطاقة الشخصية ويرسل رسالة للضحية برمز OTP وعند فتحه يتم الحصول على البيانات بنكية وبيانات الواتساب للضحية.
