Doha: Qatar Airways and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Qatar Airways became the first carrier to make a transaction on the IATA Aviation Carbon Exchange (ACE) using IATA Clearing House (ICH).
The IATA Aviation Carbon Exchange (ACE) is a centralized marketplace where airlines and other aviation stakeholders can trade CO2 emission reduction units for compliance or voluntary offsetting purposes. With a secure and easy to use trading environment, ACE offers the highest transparency in terms of price and availability of emission reduction units while simplifying the process for air carriers to access carbon markets to achieve their decarbonization targets.
Today, IATA and Qatar Airways reach another landmark milestone that encourages carbon markets to respond to the needs of the aviation sector. This initiative enables opportunities to simplify processes to ensure the successful implementation of Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), while also supporting the successful implementation of voluntary offsetting programs.
With Qatar Airways making the ACE transaction using IATA Clearing House (ICH), it benefits from the IATA Settlement Systems and Clearing House for seamless and risk-free settlement of funds. It reaffirms our industrys ambition to reach our climate targets while we drive innovation and bring other social, environmental or economic benefits.

The Aviation Carbon Exchange enables airlines to purchase their offsetting credits with maximum transparency and minimum bureaucracy. By performing the first-ever trade on the ACE using the IATA Clearing House, Qatar Airways has demonstrated its support for the ICH as a means of pioneering efficiency in transactions that will make the purchase of quality carbon offsets easier for all airlines.”
Recently, IATA approved a resolution for the global air transport industry to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In line with the longstanding approach to managing aviations climate change impact, the resolution also called for governments to support CORSIA, and coordinate policy measures to avoid a patchwork of regional, national, or local measures.
Qatar Airways and IATA, together with the industry stakeholders are working together in order to collectively achieve the industrys decarbonization goals.

/ACE/ التابعة للاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي /إياتا/ باستخدام نظام مقاصة الأموال /ICH/، وفق ما أعلنته الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر، و/إياتا/.
وتعتبر منصة تبادل الكربون للطيران، التابعة للاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي، سوقا مركزية تمكن شركات الطيران والمعنيين بالمجال من الاتجار بوحدات خفض الانبعاثات، بهدف الامتثال أو التعويض الطوعي، حيث تقدم المنصة أعلى درجات الشفافية من حيث سعر وتوفر وحدات خفض الانبعاثات، وتقديم المساعدة لشركات الطيران للوصول إلى أسواق الكربون لتحقيق أهدافها في مجال إزالة الكربون.
ومع قيام الخطوط الجوية القطرية بإجراء تبادل الكربون للطيران باستخدام نظام الاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي لمقاصة الأموال، فإنها ستستفيد من أنظمة المقاصة التابعة لـ/إياتا/، وتسوية الأموال الخالية من المخاطر، بما يؤكد على طموح قطاع الطيران لتحقيق الأهداف المتعلقة بالمناخ تماشيا مع الابتكار نحو تحقيق أي فوائد اجتماعية أو بيئية أو اقتصادية أخرى.
وفي هذا السياق، أكد سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية، أن دولة قطر تعد من الدول التي تشارك طوعا في المرحلة التجريبية لخطة التعويض عن الكربون وخفضه في مجال الطيران الدولي (CORSIA)، قائلا “نرحب باستخدام منصة تبادل الكربون للطيران التابعة للاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي، حيث يمكن لشركات الطيران الاستثمار في وحدات خفض الانبعاثات المؤهلة لخطة التعويض عن الكربون وخفضه في مجال الطيران الدولي، مما يدعم التزام الخطوط القطرية بالاستثمار في مستقبل منخفض الكربون، ويقلل من مخاطرنا المالية”.
ومن جانبه، بين السيد ويلي والش، المدير العام للاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي، أن خطة التعويض عن الكربون وخفضه في مجال الطيران الدولي تعتبر أداة رئيسية لمساعدة قطاع الطيران لتحقيق نمو محايد للكربون كجزء من هدف طويل الأمد يتمثل في الوصول إلى صافي انبعاثات كربونية صفرية بحلول عام 2050، وذلك بعد أن وافق /إياتا/ مؤخرا على قرار قطاع النقل الجوي العالمي لتحقيق صافي انبعاثات كربونية صفرية بحلول عام 2050.
وأعلنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية، في نوفمبر الماضي، أنها ستصبح أول شركة شحن جوي تنضم إلى منصة /IATA CO2NNECT / التي تقدم حلولا بيئية مبتكرة لعملائها، بالشراكة مع /اياتا/. واحتفالا بهذه الشراكة، قامت /القطرية/ للشحن الجوي في الأول من نوفمبر الماضي بتشغيل أول رحلة شحن جوي حيادية من الكربون انطلاقا من الدوحة إلى كل من مدن /فرانكفورت/ الألمانية، و/سرقسطة/ الإسبانية، و/لييج/ البلجيكية، و/باريس/ الفرنسية.
