HBKU Ranked Among the Top Universities Worldwide

Doha: The 2021 edition of the reputed global university rankings, Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), has listed HBKU in the top 150 rankings for Computer Science and Engineering. HBKU was ranked first in Qatar and third in the MENA region.
HBKU is ranked in the same bracket as top universities such as Northwestern University, Texas A&M University (College Station), RWTH Aachen University, and Yale University. The criteria used in this ranking include research output and impact as well as the quality of staff and international collaborations.
This ranking also listed HBKU among the top universities in the areas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering. This achievement is a worldwide recognition for the university, the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and research institutes standing in educational and research programs in these ranked subject areas.
It is an impressive achievement for HBKU, particularly given the fact it is very young and considering the significant number of participating universities in this ranking, mostly very well established with long histories behind them.

HBKU is firmly committed to excellence in graduate teaching and the training of highly qualified students in cutting-edge areas of knowledge across multiple disciplines. The universitys world-ranked academic and research programs advance knowledge and core expertise in high-demand fields such as information and computing technology, energy and environment, sustainable development, and engineering management and decision sciences,” said the Founding Dean of CSE Dr. Mounir Hamdi.
HBKU’s faculty members in these subject areas are internationally recognized in pursuing high-impact research and the university also supports the private and public sectors from an educational and research perspective. CSE’s recognition comes during a year in which it has built on its reputation for academic excellence by recording several groundbreaking achievements, including becoming the first academic institution in the world to develop and simulate a 1.014 billion computational cell model for giant oil and gas fields.

الدوحة: احتلت جامعة حمد بن خليفة المرتبة الأولى في قطر والثالثة على مستوى منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا وضمن أفضل 150 جامعة في تخصص علوم الحاسوب وهندسته في العالم في تصنيف شنغهاي الأكاديمي للجامعات العالمية لعام 2021 ، وهو تصنيف رائد للجامعات العالمية المرموقة.
وصنفت جامعة حمد بن خليفة في نفس فئة أبرز الجامعات العالمية مثل جامعة نورثويسترن، وجامعة تكساس إيه أند أم (كوليدج ستيشن)، وجامعة آر دبليو تي إتش آخن، وجامعة ييل. وتشمل المعايير المستخدمة في هذا الترتيب مخرجات البحوث وتأثيرها، بالإضافة إلى كفاءة الموظفين، وبرامج التعاون الدولي.
وأدرج هذا التصنيف كذلك جامعة حمد بن خليفة ضمن أفضل الجامعات في مجالات الهندسة الكهربائية والإلكترونية، والهندسة الكيميائية، وعلوم المواد وهندستها. ويمثل هذا الإنجاز اعترافا عالميا بمكانة الجامعة وكلية العلوم والهندسة والمعاهد البحثية التي تطرح البرامج التعليمية والبحثية في هذه المجالات التي حازت على تصنيف متقدم.
واعتبر الدكتور منير حمدي، العميد المؤسس لكلية العلوم والهندسة هذا الإنجاز مذهلا بالنسبة لجامعة حمد بن خليفة، لا سيما بالنظر إلى أنها جامعة ناشئة وواعدة، وفي ضوء العدد الكبير من الجامعات المشاركة في هذا التصنيف، وهي جامعات غالبا ما تكون مرموقة جدا ولها تاريخ طويل.
وأوضح أن الاعتراف بجامعة حمد بن خليفة وتقديرها بوضعها ضمن قائمة أفضل الجامعات البحثية في العالم يعكس الرؤية الثاقبة لقيادات الجامعة، مؤكدا التزامها الراسخ بالتميز في التعليم وتدريب الطلاب وتأهيلهم وفقا لأرقى المستويات العالمية في مجالات المعرفة المتطورة ضمن تخصصات متعددة.
ونوه الدكتور حمدي إلى أن البرامج الأكاديمية والبحثية في الجامعة والتي تحظى بتصنيف عالمي تعمل على تعزيز المعرفة والخبرات الأساسية في المجالات التي تحظى بإقبال مرتفع مثل تكنولوجيا المعلومات والحوسبة، والطاقة والبيئة، والتنمية المستدامة، والإدارة الهندسية وعلوم القرار.
ويحظى أعضاء هيئة التدريس بجامعة حمد بن خليفة في هذه المجالات باعتراف على المستوى الدولي تقديرا لمساعيهم الرامية إلى إنتاج أبحاث عالية التأثير، كما تدعم الجامعة القطاعين العام والخاص من منظور تعليمي وبحثي.
ويأتي التقدير الذي حازت عليه كلية العلوم والهندسة خلال عام رسخت فيه الكلية سمعتها في التميز الأكاديمي عبر تحقيق العديد من الإنجازات الرائدة، ومن بينها أن تصبح أول مؤسسة أكاديمية في العالم تطور نموذجا يضم 1.014 مليار خلية حسابية لمحاكاة حقول النفط والغاز العملاقة.
