Doha: About 80 to 85 percent of the calls received by 999 emergency service at the National Command Centre are unnecessary and relate to minor traffic accidents or inquiries about certain topics.
Second Lieutenant Ahmed Al Mutawa from the National Command Center has advised that “people should call only in necessary cases, such as accidents in which there are injuries, fires, drowning, or closed doors on children, as these cases need immediate intervention.”
Speaking to Qatar Radio, he indicated that the emergency service is the first responder to calls and they are classified and sent to the concerned authorities to take necessary action.
He explained that the Center has employees from the military and civil cadres, and they have translators in several languages, such as French, English, Chinese, Filipino, Persian, Pashto, and Turkish.
For his part, Captain Fadl Mubarak Al-Khater, head of the metro station security section at the Public Transport Security Department, said that the rate of security reports during the Arab Cup is very low.

ونصح الملازم أول أحمد المطوع من مركز القيادة الوطنية بضرورة “الاتصال في الحالات الضرورية فقط، مثل الحوادث التي توجد فيها إصابات أو حرائق أو غرق أو أبواب مغلقة على الأطفال، فهذه الحالات تحتاج إلى تدخل فوري”.
وأشار في حديث لراديو قطر إلى أن خدمة الطوارئ هي المستجيب الأول للمكالمات ويتم تصنيفها وإرسالها للجهات المعنية لاتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة. وأوضح أن المركز يضم موظفين من كوادر عسكرية ومدنية ولديهم مترجمون بعدة لغات مثل الفرنسية والإنجليزية والصينية والفلبينية والفارسية والبشتوية والتركية.
ومن جهته قال النقيب فضل مبارك الخاطر رئيس قسم أمن محطة المترو بإدارة أمن النقل العام، إن معدل التقارير الأمنية خلال كأس العرب متدني للغاية.
