Qatar-Saudi Business Meeting Discusses Ways to Enhance Trade, Investment Cooperation

Doha: The Qatari-Saudi Business Meeting, organized by the Qatar Chamber (QC) in cooperation with Council of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, was held on Wednesday in Doha in the presence of a number of businessmen from the two countries.

It also touched on the possibility of establishing alliances and partnerships between Qatari and Saudi companies to achieve the economic and commercial integration between the two brotherly countries.

It discussed activating the Qatari-Saudi Business Council and setting an agenda of its meetings to review all issues that are of interest to businessmen from both countries.

QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari stressed that businessmen from both countries are looking forward to exploring new aspects of cooperation and opening new channels of active partnership, expressing his hope that the meeting would contribute to further developing economic and commercial relations to meet aspirations of the two brotherly countries.

As for economic cooperation, he noted that Qatar and KSA enjoy strong and distinguished relations, pointing out that their trade exchange amounted to QR 386 million during the first nine months of this year despite the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic.

He underscored the importance to intensify mutual visits between both business sectors during the coming period, develop cooperation and coordination between Qatar Chamber and Council of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, in addition to activate the Qatar-Saudi Business Council to consolidate cooperation between the private sector and revitalize trade and investments between both sides.

QC First Vice-Chairman reiterated that the Chamber strongly supports and encourages cooperation between Qatari and Saudi firms by establishing commercial alliances and partnerships in all fields whether in Qatar or in KSA.

Al Kuwari called on Saudi businessmen to invest in Qatar to take advantage of the attractive incentives provided by the state to foreign investors, inviting at the same time Qatari businessmen to explore opportunities available in KSA and cooperate with their Saudi brothers in joint projects that enhance the contribution of the private sector to achieving both countries visions 2030, which produce many major projects and investment opportunities in both sides.

For his part, Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Saudi Chambers Ajlan Al Ajlan stressed that this meeting will help in strengthening cooperation ties between both sides, expressing his hope that it represents a starting point for effective recommendations that underpin future cooperation between businessmen in the two countries.

With respect to the Qatari-Saudi Business Council, Al Ajlan said that both sides are working on restructuring and activating it with a view to enhancing communication prospects and exchanging information about investment opportunities available in both sides, noting that the Saudi Vision 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030 generate a host of opportunities in which businessmen from both countries can invest in.

These opportunities include food and medicine production, logistics services, technology services, digitization, and other promising opportunities that ensure the diversity and competitiveness of the two economies and raise standard of living in both countries, he said, adding that Qatar host of the 2022 World Cup is one of the most important investment opportunities that must be considered.

The host will contribute to developing trade exchange in goods and services and revitalizing the tourism sector, in addition to providing an additional source of income for the host country and investors, he added.

During the meeting, both parties delivered many presentations on the business and investment climate and opportunities available for cooperation between businessmen from both countries.

Manager of Investor Relations at the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar Hamad Rashid Al Naimi gave a presentation on the investment climate in Qatar and the available opportunities, reviewing the incentives offered by the State of Qatar to investors, stressing that the Qatari economy is one of the most stable and competitive economies in the world.

He referred to the most important sectors that stimulate investment in Qatar, which include infrastructure, logistics, financial services, technology, advanced industries, tourism, the agricultural sector, entertainment and professional services.

Executive Director of Export Development & Promotion at Qatar Development Bank Hamad Mejegheer delivered a presentation on the services provided by the agency in supporting Qatari exports, reviewing the most important Qatari products that can be exported to the Saudi market.

On the Saudi side, Nasser Saeed Al Hajri, chairman of the board of directors of the gulf specialized petrochemical industries company, gave a presentation on the importance of the hydrocarbon and downstream industry in the Gulf region.

Iyad Al Omari, from Saudi ACWA Power company, also gave a presentation on the company specialized in power and water projects, which is the largest company specialized in seawater desalination in the world.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a number of cooperation agreements were signed between Qatari and Saudi companies working in the fields of real estate, petroleum services, tourism and hospitality.

الدوحة: عقد ملتقى الأعمال القطري السعودي الذي نظمته غرفة تجارة وصناعة قطر بالتعاون مع اتحاد الغرف السعودية، بالدوحة، بحضور عدد من رجال الأعمال من البلدين.

وتم خلال الملتقى مناقشة سبل تعزيز علاقات التعاون التجاري والاستثماري بين رجال الأعمال القطريين ونظرائهم السعوديين، والفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة في السوقين القطرية والسعودية، وإمكانية إقامة تحالفات وشراكات بين الشركات سعيا لتحقيق التكامل الاقتصادي والتجاري بين البلدين الشقيقين.

كما ناقش الملتقى إعادة تشكيل مجلس الأعمال القطري السعودي وتفعيله ووضع أجندة للاجتماعات الدورية للمجلس لبحث كافة الموضوعات التي تهم رجال الأعمال في البلدين.

وقال السيد محمد بن طوار الكواري النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر، في كلمة له خلال افتتاح الملتقى، إن أصحاب الأعمال القطريين والسعوديين يتطلعون إلى استكشاف آفاق جديدة للتعاون المشترك فيما بينهم، وفتح قنوات جديدة للشراكة الفاعلة بين الشركات من كلا الجانبين.

وتمنى أن يسهم هذا الملتقى في تحقيق مزيد من النمو والتطور في العلاقات التجارية والاقتصادية بما يحقق آمال وتطلعات البلدين الشقيقين، مضيفا: “نتطلع لفتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون على كافة الأصعدة والمستويات”.

وأفاد بأن “حجم التبادل التجاري بين البلدين بلغ خلال الأشهر التسعة الأولى من العام الحالي حوالي 386 مليون ريال قطري”، مضيفا أنها بداية مشجعة بالرغم من تداعيات جائحة فيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/.

وأشار إلى ضرورة العمل معا على تكثيف الزيارات في الفترة القادمة، وزيادة التنسيق والتعاون بين غرفة قطر واتحاد الغرف السعودية، بالإضافة إلى تفعيل عمل مجلس الأعمال القطري-السعودي، بهدف توسيع التعاون بين القطاع الخاص وتنشيط حركة التجارة وخلق فرص استثمارية جديدة.

وأكد أن غرفة قطر تشجع وتدعم وتتطلع إلى تعزيز التعاون بين الشركات القطرية والسعودية وإنشاء شراكات فاعلة وتحالفات اقتصادية وتجارية، سواء في قطر أو في المملكة، في كافة المجالات.

ودعا النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر أصحاب الأعمال السعوديين إلى الاستثمار في دولة قطر، والاستفادة من كافة المحفزات التي توفرها التشريعات القطرية للمستثمرين وبيئة الأعمال الجاذبة، كما دعا أصحاب الأعمال القطريين إلى استكشاف الفرص المتاحة في المملكة، وإلى التعاون مع أشقائهم السعوديين في مشاريع مشتركة تعزز من مساهمة القطاع الخاص في تحقيق رؤية 2030 في كلا البلدين، واللتين يتمخّض عنهما الكثير من المشاريع الكبرى والفرص الاستثمارية.

ومن جانبه، قال السيد عجلان بن عبدالعزيز العجلان رئيس اتحاد الغرف التجارية السعودية إن هذا الملتقى “يسهم في تعزيز العلاقات بين البلدين، والتي نأمل أن تصل في القريب العاجل إلى درجة عالية من التكامل مدعومة بكل ما يربطنا من أواصر الدين والأخوة والجوار والمصالح الاقتصادية المشتركة”.

وأوضح أن الملتقى يمثل فرصة جوهرية لأصحاب الأعمال في البلدين للاستفادة من هذا التوجه المبارك، معربا عن أمله في أن يكون هذا اللقاء منطلقا للوصول إلى توصيات فعّالة تحدد خريطة التعاون المستقبلي لأصحاب الأعمال القطريين والسعوديين.

وأشار إلى قوة تنافسية الاقتصادين القطري والسعودي على مستوى العالم، وفقا للمؤشرات على هذا الصعيد، مضيفا: “وبناء على ذلك يزداد حجم المسؤولية على عاتق القطاع الخاص في كلا البلدين، ويستلزم تفعيل دورهما الحقيقي لدفع عجلة التنمية الاقتصادية إلى أعلى مستوياتها، مقابل ما هو عليه اليوم وما نأمل له للمستقبل”.

وشدد على أهمية إعادة تشكيل وتفعيل مجلس الأعمال السعودي القطري ليعمل على تقريب وجهات النظر وتبادل المعلومات حول الفرص الاستثمارية بين البلدين، ولا سيما أن هنالك العديد من الفرص التي تضمنتها كُل من رؤية المملكة 2030 ورؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 التي بإمكان أصحاب الأعمال الاستثمار فيها.

كما تطرق العجلان إلى عدد من القطاعات والفرص الاستثمارية في البلدين مثل إنتاج الغذاء والدواء، والخدمات اللوجستية، وخدمات التقنية، والرقمنة، وغيرها من الفرص الواعدة التي تضمن تنوع وتنافسية الاقتصادين، والارتقاء بمستوى المعيشة لديهما.

كما نوه بأن “استضافة قطر لكأس العالم لعام 2022 هو أحد أهم الفرص الاستثمارية التي يجب أخذها بالاعتبار”، مؤكدا أن هذه الاستضافة “ستساهم في رفع مستوى التبادل التجاري للسلع والخدمات، وكذلك نمو القطاع السياحي وتوفير مصدر دخل إضافي للدولة المضيفة والمستثمرين”.

وشهد الملتقى تقديم عدد من العروض لمناخ الاستثمارات في البلدين الشقيقين، والفرص الواعدة، والتسهيلات المقدمة للمستثمرين، وغيرها من العروض.

وقدم السيد حمد راشد النعيمي مدير إدارة علاقات المستثمرين في وكالة ترويج الاستثمار عرضا عن مناخ الاستثمار في قطر والفرص المتاحة، مستعرضا الحوافز التي تقدمها دولة قطر للمستثمرين، ومؤكدا أن الاقتصاد القطري يعد من أكثر الاقتصادات استقرارا وتنافسية في العالم.

وأشار إلى أبرز القطاعات المحفزة للاستثمار في قطر والتي تشمل البنية التحتية والخدمات اللوجستية والخدمات المالية والتكنولوجيا والصناعات المتقدمة والسياحة والقطاع الزراعي والترفيه والخدمات الاحترافية.

كما قدم السيد حمد مجيغير المدير التنفيذي لوكالة ترويج الصادرات ببنك قطر للتنمية عرضا عن الخدمات التي تقدمها الوكالة في دعم الصادرات القطرية، مستعرضا أهم المنتجات القطرية التي يمكن تصديرها إلى السوق السعودية.

ومن الجانب السعودي، قدم السيد ناصر سعيد الهاجري رئيس مجلس إدارة الشركة الخليجية للصناعات البتروكيماوية المتخصصة، عرضا عن أهمية صناعة الهيدروكربون و/الداون ستريم/ في منطقة الخليج.

كما قدم السيد إياد العمري من شركة /اكوا باور/ السعودية عرضا عن الشركة المتخصصة في مشروعات الطاقة والمياه، والتي تعد أكبر شركة متخصصة بتحلية مياه البحر على مستوى العالم.

وفي ختام اللقاء، تم توقيع عدد من اتفاقيات التعاون بين شركات قطرية وسعودية، تعمل في مجالات العقارات، والخدمات البترولية، والسياحة والضيافة.
