Qatar National Library’s lecture explores history of Jerusalem
مكتبة قطر الوطنية تحتضن محاضرة حول تاريخ القدس
Renowned Palestinian historian, Suhad Kulaibo, delivered an insightful lecture at Qatar National Library, which highlighted the history of the ancient city of Jerusalem, yesterday.
The lecture offered a panoramic historical overview of the emergence of the city, and its foundation over 7,000 years ago by tribes migrating from the Arabian Peninsula.
“Libraries are very important because they provide access to books and raise awareness about important historical causes,” said Suhad. “I am very proud and thankful to Qatar National Library for inviting me to have this lecture here. Currently this Library is the best place for everyone to deliver lectures and have their thoughts listened to. I am proud to see that Qatar has built the best library in the Arab world.”
Mohammed Shaaban, an attendee at the lecture, said, “It was a really informative lecture and the author shared interesting information about the history of Jerusalem. It is always refreshing to gain new information about the region and especially this city. I often attend events here at the Library and have borrowed several books about the history of the region.”
احتضنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية محاضرة عن تاريخ مدينة القدس الشريف، موئل المسجد الأقصى، ثاني القبلتين وثالث الحرمين.
وتأتي هذه المحاضرة التي شاركت فيها المؤرخة الفلسطينية سهاد قليبو، ضمن فعاليات مكتبة قطر الوطنية بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للكتاب خلال شهر أبريل.
وقدمت قليبو في محاضرتها، نبذة بانورامية حول التاريخ العريق للمدينة القديمة، مستشهدة بما كتبه علماء التاريخ والأديان والآثار واللغات حول نشأة المدينة المباركة التي أسستها القبائل العربية التي هاجرت من الجزيرة العربية لظروف مناخية قاسية باحثة عن الماء والعشب قبل أكثر من 7 آلاف عام.
وقالت المؤرخة الفلسطينية أثناء الحديث عن أهمية المكتبات، إنها تنهض بدور مهم وحساس في توفير الكتب وتعزيز الوعي حول الموضوعات التاريخية المهمة، مشيرة إلى أن مكتبة قطر الوطنية في الوقت الحالي هي المكان المثالي لإلقاء المحاضرات وتوصيل الأفكار للجمهور.
جدير بالذكر، أن مكتبة قطر الوطنية تضطلع بمسؤولية الحفاظ على التراث الوطني لدولة قطر من خلال جمع التراث والتاريخ المكتوب الخاص بالدولة والمحافظة عليه وإتاحته للجميع.
