Metro stations in Corniche area receive 680,000 passengers during road closure

Doha: Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has announced that Doha Metro stations located in the Corniche area received 680,000 passengers during the temporary road closure there between November 26 and December 4.
Doha Metro stations located in the Corniche area – National Museum, Souq Waqif, Corniche, Al Bidda, West Bay, DECC and Ras Bu Abboud – witnessed a large turnout of passengers.
Al Bidda station, which is located within walking distance of the 11th Qatar International Food Festival, witnessed an exceptional turnout from the public, who went to attend the festival held in conjunction with the FIFA Arab Cup 2021, Qatar Rail said in a statement.
The Qatar International Food Festival is being held at Al Bidda Park.
At the same time, the metrolink and metroexpress services continued to transport passengers throughout the Corniche area. The two services provided alternative routes during the closure period, which helped transport the public around the Corniche area, allowing them to reach their destinations easily.
This confirms the integral role of the Doha Metro in enhancing the public transport system, providing an effective alternative means of transportation and facilitation of the movement of individuals.
In addition, Doha Metro aids the free flow of traffic, avoiding congestion, especially during temporary road closures.

الدوحة: أعلنت شركةُ سكك الحديد القطرية (الريل) أنَّ محطات مترو الدوحة السبع الواقعة في منطقة الكورنيش استقبلت 680 ألفَ راكب خلال الإغلاق المؤقت لطريق الكورنيش في الفترة الواقعة ما بين 26 نوفمبر و4 ديسمبر الحالي.
وشهدت المحطاتُ المنتشرةُ في منطقة الكورنيش وهي محطة المتحف الوطني، وسوق واقف، والكورنيش، والبدع، والخليج الغربي، ومركز المعارض، ورأس أبو عبود إقبالًا واسعًا من الجمهور.
كما شهدت محطةُ البدع والتي تقع على مسافة مشي من مهرجان قطر الدولي للأغذية 11 المقام في حديقة البدع إقبالًا استثنائيًا من الجمهور الذي توجه لحضور المهرجان المقام بالتزامن مع بطولة مونديال العرب 2021.
وقد استمرت خدمة مترولينك في العمل من خلال 21 محطة خلال فترة الإغلاق المذكورة وقد تم تحويل بعض مساراتها مؤقتًا لطرق بديلة خلال فترة الإغلاق لتغطية مناطق أوسع، وقد واصلت خدمة متروإكسبرس العمل من خلال 6 محطات في مناطق الخليج الغربي وعنيزة والقصار، ما ساعد في نقل الجمهور حول الوجهات الرئيسية في منطقة الكورنيش وساهم في وصولهم إلى الوجهات التي يقصدونها بسهولة ويسر.
كما ساهمت مواقف «اركن وتنقل» المتوفرة حول 14 محطة من محطات المترو في تقليل الاعتماد على السيارات الخاصة، حيث استخدمها الجمهور لركن سياراتهم ومتابعة رحلاتهم بالمترو.
ويؤكد ذلك على أهمية دور مترو الدوحة في تعزيز منظومة النقل العام وتقديم بديل فعال للتنقل وتسهيل حركة الأفراد لتفادي الازدحامات المرورية ولا سيما خلال فترات الإغلاقات المؤقتة للطرق.
