Doha Winter Wonderland .. Everything you need to know

Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani witnessed yesterday the signing of a contract to establish and operate the Doha Winter Wonderland project between Qatari Diar, Qatar Tourism and Elegancia Group.

The project will be ready starting from 2022 on Al Maha Island in Lusail city.

His Excellency laid the foundation stone for the Doha Winter Wonderland project, and listened to an explanation about the project, which extends over an area of 200,000sqm, and includes six areas for amusement games and marine sports, in addition to a marine club, family chalets, and an area for parties and various events.

The signing ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Ministers and senior officials, including Minister of Finance, H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari; Minister of Commerce and Industry, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatari Diar, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani; President of Qatar Tourism, H E Akbar Al Baker; CEO of Qatari Diar, Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah; Chairman of the Elegancia Group, Moataz Al Khayat, and CEO of IMG for the Middle East and North Africa, Frank Guinari, along other dignitaries.

The “Doha Winter Wonderland” project, proposed by Qatari Diar, is being implemented by Elegancia Group which won this investment opportunity to finance, implement and operate the project.

The project is being implemented on an area of 200,000sqm on Al Maha Island, located on the eastern of the coast of the Marina and Tarfa Lusail area. It is an area combining a group of international hotels and tourist facilities and the new luxury shopping centre Place Vendôme. The project is scheduled to be ready before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Doha Winter Wonderland project includes six gaming areas with more than 50 world-class games for different ages. IMG – International Marketing Group will be operating the project.

The project includes a beach club, family chalets, a public area for holding various parties and events, a sports area, restaurants and cafes, as well as a walkway and a huge car park where all services are available to ensure a unique tourist experience for visitors of different nationalities and age groups.

As the FIFA World Cup Qatar is approaching, it will be a new tourist destination whereas Qatar Tourism is working jointly with Qatari Diar to take the necessary steps and initiatives to develop and revitalize the sector by involving investors in the development of the project. This huge project in the modern city of Lusail, is considered as an important addition to the country’s entertainment facilities.

“This project, which will be a qualitative addition to tourism projects in the State of Qatar, is more than just a games area. It is rather an integrated entertainment destination comparable to the most famous international entertainment cities,” said H E Akbar Al Baker, President of Qatar Tourism while commenting on the developing project. 

He added: “This project will be a valued addition to the entertainment destination to the growing list of global tourist destinations in Qatar. It will serve both those inside the State of Qatar and visitors during the next five years, especially during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The project is planned to be launched before the start of the World Cup next year.”

The Chairman of Qatari Diar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, said, “Once the project is completed, it will not be a tourist attraction targeting domestic tourism only, but will also go beyond that to become a remarkable and distinctive addition to the growing list of world-class tourist destinations in Qatar.” 

Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, CEO of Qatari Diar pointed out that, “Lusail City is planned to be the city of the future, embracing social diversity and advanced infrastructure, besides integrated services, including governmental and private sector services. As well large local and international institutions and entities will be operating, adding a new entertainment destination with international standards. Doha Winter Wonderland will add a new competitive advantage to the city and will provide an outlet for residents and visitors.”

Al Attiyah added: “Qatari Diar is always keen to offer various investment opportunities constantly within Lusail City to investors and the private sector in various fields. The Doha Winter Wonderland project is one of these investment opportunities to support and enhance the role of the private sector in investing in Lusail City.”

He added, “This project is planned to start receiving visitors before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 despite the challenges of its implementation in a short period of time. We believe in the strength of the partnership between Qatari Diar, Qatar Tourism and Elegancia Group, and the real desire of these parties to realize this outstanding achievement.”

Moataz Al Khayat, Chairman of Elegancia Group, said: “We are fortunate to be a part of this prestigious project that presents the Doha Winter Wonderland as an important milestone in the developing and growing tourism scene in the State of Qatar.”

He added, “I would like to thank Qatari Diar for offering this distinguished investment opportunity and for providing the private sector with the opportunity to participate in this giant national project.”

 “The competition was not easy due to competition of many local and international companies, and we are proud of Elegancia Group won this project and proud of our partnership with all Qatari Diar and Qatar Tourism to implement this giant project,” he added.

برعاية وحضور معالي الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن عبد العزيز آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية ، وقعت شركة الديار القطرية و قطر للسياحة عقد مع مجموعة اليجانسيا التي تمت ترسية الفرصة الاستثمارية عليها لإقامة وتشغيل مشروع «الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند – Doha winter wonderland » في جزيرة المها بمدينة لوسيل لمدة خمس سنوات تبدأ من 2022، حيث من المتوقع أن تبدأ باستقبال الزوار قبل كأس العالم 2022 في دولة قطر.

وقد حضر توقيع العقد سعادة السيد علي بن أحمد الكواري وزير المالية، وسعادة الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن قاسم آل ثاني وزير التجارة والصناعة، و سعادة الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس إدارة الديار القطرية وسعادة السيد أكبر الباكر رئيس قطر للسياحة، وسعادة المهندس عبدالله بن حمد العطية الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة الديار القطرية ، والسيد معتز الخياط رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة إليجانسيا ، و السيد فرانك غينياري الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة IMG لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا ، إلى جانب العديد من كبار الشخصيات في الدولة.

و الجدير بالذكر أن المشروع قد قامت بطرحة شركة الديار القطرية كفرصة استثمارية فريدة من نوعها لشركات القطاع الخاص بالتعاون مع قطر للسياحة، ومن ثم تقدم عدد كبير من المستثمرين المحليين و العالميين بمقترحاتهم و عروضهم للمشروع ، حيث قامت لجنة مشتركة ما بين شركة الديار القطرية و قطر للسياحة ووزارة التجارة والصناعة بدراسة العروض المقدمة , وقد فازت مجموعة اليجانسيا من بين العروض المقدمة بهذه الفرصة الاستثمارية لتمويل وتنفيذ وتشغيل المشروع .

وسيتم تنفيذ مشروع “الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند- Doha winter wonderland” بمساحة ٢٠٠ الف متر مربع على جزيرة المها التي تقع في الجانب الشرقي قبالة ساحل منطقة المارينا ومنطقة طرفة لوسيل التي تحتوي على مجموعة من الفنادق العالمية والمرافق السياحية بالإضافة إلى بلاس فندوم مركز التسوق الجديد الفخم.

كما يضم مشروع “الدوحة ونتر وندرلاند” ست مناطق ألعاب تضم اكثر من 50 لعبة من الطراز العالمي لمختلف الاعمار، حيث سيقوم بتشغيل المشروع IMG – International Marketing Group ، الشركة العالمية المتخصصة في تشغيل المناسبات والفعاليات ومنها تشغيل “هايدبارك ونتر وندر لاند” في الهايد بارك لندن .

و إضافة لنادي بحري على الشاطئ وشاليهات عائلية، ومنطقة عامة لإقامة الحفلات والفعاليات المختلفة و منطقة رياضية ، ومطاعم ومقاهي، إلى جانب ممشى وموقف سيارات ضخم حيث تتوفر كل الخدمات لضمان تجربة سياحية فريدة من نوعها للزوار من مختلف الجنسيات والفئات العمرية ، حيث من المقرر أن يكون المشروع جاهزاً قبل بداية بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر ٢٠٢٢ ليكون وجهة جديدة سياحية تضاف لجميع سكان قطر ولضيوف المونديال. ومع اقتراب انطلاق المونديال الكروي العالمي تعمل قطر للسياحة يدا بيد مع شركة الديار القطرية على اتخاذ الخطوات والمبادرات اللازمة لتطوير وتنشيط القطاع من خلال إشراك المستثمرين في عملية تطوير وإنشاء هذا المشروع الضخم في مدينة لوسيل العصرية والذي يعتبر إضافة مهمة لمرافق الترفيه في الدولة .

وبهذه المناسبة أعرب سعادة السيد اكبر الباكر رئيس قطر للسياحة ” ان هذا المشروع الذي سيكون إضافة نوعية للمشاريع السياحية في دولة قطر كونه أكثر من مجرد منطقة العاب بل وجهة ترفيهية متكاملة تضاهي أبرز مدن الترفيه العالمية”.

وأضاف الباكر: “سيضيف هذا المشروع وجهة ترفيهية جديدة على قائمة الوجهات السياحية العالمية المتزايدة في قطر والتي تخدم كل من للمتواجدين داخل دولة قطر والزوار خلال الخمس سنوات القادمة ، خاصة خلال بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر ٢٠٢٢ حيث من المخطط أن ينطلق المشروع قبل بداية كأس العالم العام القادم .

وبهذه المناسبة صرح سعادة الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس إدارة الديار القطرية ” بمجرد اكتمال المشروع لن يكون نقطة جذب سياحية تستهدف السياحة الداخلية فقط، بل سيتخطى ذلك ليصبح إضافة لافتة ومميزة إلى قائمة الوجهات السياحية المتزايدة ذات المستوى العالمي في دولة قطر” .

ومن جانبه صرح المهندس عبدالله بن حمد العطية ” كما هو مخطط لمدينة لوسيل أن تكون مدينة المستقبل والتي تحتضن التنوع المجتمعي والبنى التحتية المتطورة ، إضافة للخدمات المتكاملة سواء الحكومية او الخاصة ، والمؤسسات والكيانات الكبيرة محليا ودولياً ، فإن إضافة وجهة ترفيهية بمواصفات عالمية مثل “الدوحة ونتر وندرلاند” تضيف ميزة تنافسية جديدة للمدينة ومتنفسا للسكان والزوار .

إضافة إلى ذلك فإن شركة الديار القطرية دائما تحرص على طرح فرصاً استثمارية متنوعة باستمرار داخل مدينة لوسيل للمستثمرين والقطاع الخاص في مختلف المجالات ومشروع “الدوحة ونتر وندرلاند” هو أحد هذه الفرص الاستثمارية لدعم وتعزيز دور القطاع الخاص في الاستثمار في مدينة لوسيل ، إَضافة لما سيضيفه من فرص متوالية للاستثمار داخل المدينة خلال فترة انشاء وتشغيل المشروع في مختلف المجالات .

وقال السيد معتز الخياط، رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة إليجانسيا: “نحن محظوظون لكوننا جزءًا من هذا المشروع المرموق الذي يقدم “الدوحة ونتر وندرلاند” باعتباره معلمًا هامًا في المشهد السياحي المتطور والمتنامي في دولة قطر .

وأضاف ” أود التوجه بالشكر لشركة الديار القطرية على طرحها لهذه الفرصة الاستثمارية المتميزة وإتاحة الفرصة للقطاع الخاص بالمشاركة في هذا المشروع الوطني العملاق .
