Ministry of Municipality Announces Launch Date of Horticultural Doha Expo 2023

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality announced the date of the launch of the International Horticultural Expo or Doha Expo 2023, which will be held from Oct. 2, 2023 to March 28, 2024 in Al Bidda Park in Doha under the slogan ‘Green Desert, Better Environment.’

HE the Minister of Municipality and President of the National Committee for Doha Expo 2023 Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaei stressed that the State of Qatar, under the wise vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is taking pioneering steps to support a greener environment due to its firm realization that climate, water and soil are indispensable resources.

His Excellency said during a speech on the occasion of the announcement of Doha Expo 2023 that by hosting this special edition of the International Horticultural Expo, which is sponsored by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), they seek to promote international cooperation on environmental and cultural issues, and to address the common global challenge of desertification.

HE Minister expressed pride for Doha Expo 2023 to be a catalyst for change by hosting an international exhibition of this magnitude and providing an effective forum for dialogue on this pressing issue. HE expressed keenness to pave the way for international exchange of innovation and technology in order to facilitate the global transformation into greener cities in the world.

In this context, HE Minister referred to the State of Qatar receiving in Nov. 2019 the official banner of hosting the first International Horticultural Expo in the Middle East and North Africa after Qatar was distinguished by its multiple activities and active participation in a number of international horticultural exhibitions, the last of which was Expo 2019 Beijing, where Qatar participated with a large and distinguished pavilion within the three largest pavilions at the level of the participating countries.

His Excellency highlighted the support of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani to establish a national committee for Qatar’s hosting of the International Horticultural Expo, and the committee includes partners from government agencies, namely: the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Environment and Climate Change, Finance, Culture, Sports and Youth, Transport, Information and Communications Technology, Commerce and Industry, Public Works Authority, Qatar National Tourism Council, and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.

His Excellency affirmed that the committee is continuing its preparations to host Doha Expo 2023 despite the challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic on the local and global scale. He praised the efforts of the team led by Director of the Public Parks Department and Secretary General of the Committee Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Khoury who continue to plan and work with full force and with the speed required to organize an unforgettable event.

HE expressed hope that global health conditions will continue to change positively so that everyone can celebrate the opening of Doha Expo 2023 on Oct. 2, 2023, which will include six months of activities and celebrations with the participating international community.

HE Minister stressed the important role of all governmental, semi-governmental and private sectors, which will support the country’s efforts to make this event distinguished at all levels, as it is the first international horticultural exhibition in the region.

During a press conference held Wednesday, on this occasion, Director of the Public Parks Department and Secretary General of the Committee Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Khoury explained that the International Horticultural Expo of Category A1 will be held for the first time in the State of Qatar, and will be the first international horticultural exhibition of its kind to take place the Middle East and North Africa.

Al Khoury said that this exhibition is being launched under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organization responsible for supervising and organizing all international exhibitions, and the International Society for Horticultural Science, an international non-governmental organization specialized in encouraging workers in the horticultural sector.

He noted that gardening is the art of growing plants in gardens to produce food and medicinal ingredients or for convenience and ornamental purposes. This expo has the primary mission of sharing experiences and solutions to improve the quality of life in cities through the development of horticulture in the 21st century.

Al Khoury spoke about the exhibition’s slogan ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’ chosen for Doha Expo 2023 that aims to inspire and inform visitors of innovative solutions and reduce environmental desertification. This slogan includes four sub-themes that pave the way to provide a unique experience for visitors not only by providing them with useful information but also to motivate them to physically and intellectually participate, inspiring them to be part of the change. The sub-themes are Modern Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Environmental Awareness, and Sustainability.

The State of Qatar is proud to host the Expo, which will witness the participation of 80 countries, along with a number of international organizations, representatives of the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and the general public to meet under one roof from Oct. 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024, over an area of 1.7 million square meters in the picturesque Al Bidda Park, he stressed.

This exhibition will provide an opportunity for 3 million visitors to learn about multi-activities, including exceptional exhibitions, diplomatic meetings, business meetings, and public discussions. This is expected to have a profound impact and legacy on Qatar, the region, and the world at large, as it includes a mix of healthy lifestyles, green economies, sustainable lifestyles, education, entertainment, and innovation, he added.

Based on the importance of this event, Al Khoury expressed keenness to design a logo that celebrates the power of teamwork so that it is appealing, culturally appropriate, and contemporary in visual terms, and Doha Expo 2023 will witness a local, regional and international campaign to promote this unique event, encouraging the world to visit Qatar and live an unforgettable experience through this special event, Al Khoury said.

He expressed aspiration to host and welcome local, regional and international authorities, companies, and families that will cooperate to ensure the success of the International Horticultural Expo 2023 and for it to be another milestone within Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to build a better tomorrow.

For her part, Director of Events and Corporate Communication Department, Expo Doha 2023, Haifa Al Otaibi highlighted the ability of the leadership of the State of Qatar in hosting prominent major global events and its readiness to hold this major global event after Qatar acquired a number of achievements and initiatives in the field of horticulture, which will be displayed in this exceptional exhibition. She appreciated the great confidence to organize an exhibition compatible with Qatar National Vision 2030 in its economic, social, and environmental pillars, which aims to achieve sustainable development in Qatar.

Al Otaibi noted the location of the exhibition in Al Bidda Park, which is one of the most popular public places in the heart of Doha, where the site will be divided into three areas that will be designed and equipped to enhance a unique and distinctive experience. There will be an international area, which will be the exhibition gate and the focal point for the garden, international exhibitions, and events, the families area, which will be a family hotspot for activities, gatherings, and hobbies in the open air to spread the spirit of fun and entertainment and finally, the cultural area is the ideal place to host cultural and heritage activities and exhibitions due to its proximity to the historical center of Doha and its archaeological landmarks.

Al Otaibi said that the State of Qatar has proven throughout its history its ability to achieve difficult achievements and face the most difficult challenges. It will be distinguished in holding the first International Horticultural Expo in the Middle East and North Africa, in a desert environment, stressing the determination to transform Qatar’s desert with history and authenticity. The long-standing work, effort, expertise, technology, and knowledge has led to a green oasis and to find strategic solutions to reduce the process of desertification in the region and the world.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة البلدية عن موعد تدشين المعرض الدولي للبستنة /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/ والذي سيقام في الفترة من 2 أكتوبر 2023 وحتى 28 مارس 2024 في حديقة البدع بمدينة الدوحة تحت شعار /صحراء خضراء، بيئة أفضل/.

وأكد سعادة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي وزير البلدية ورئيس اللجنة الوطنية لاستضافة دولة قطر لإكسبو 2023 بالدوحة، على أن دولة قطر في ظل الرؤية الرشيدة لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله”، تخطو خطوات ريادية لدعم بيئة أكثر خضرةً، وذلك لإدراكها الراسخ بأن المناخ والماء والتربة موارد لا غنى عنها.

وقال سعادته خلال كلمة بمناسبة الإعلان عن تدشين معرض /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/ للبستنة: “إننا نسعى من خلال استضافة هذه النسخة المميزة من المعرض الدولي للحدائق والبستنة الذي يشرف عليه المكتب الدولي للمعارض (BIE)، إلى تعزيز التعاون الدولي في القضايا البيئية والثقافية، والتصدي للتحدي العالمي المشترك والمتمثل في التصحر.

وأضاف “نحن فخورون بأن نكون حافزاً للتغيير من خلال استضافة معرض دولي بهذا الحجم وتوفير ميدان حوار فعال حول هذه المسألة الملحة، كما أننا حريصون على تمهيد الطريق لهذا التبادل الدولي للابتكار والتكنولوجيا من أجل تسهيل التحول العالمي إلى مدن أكثر خضرة في العالم”.

وأشار سعادة الوزير في هذا السياق إلى تسلُّم دولة قطر في نوفمبر 2019، الراية الرسمية لاستضافة أول معرض دولي للبستنة في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، وذلك بعد أن تميزت قطر بأنشطتها المتعددة ومشاركتها الفعالة في عدد من المعارض الدولية للبستنة، وكان آخرها معرض إكسبو بكين في عام2019 ، حيث شاركت قطر بجناح كبير ومميز ضمن أكبر ثلاثة أجنحة على مستوى الدول المشاركة.

ونوه سعادة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي بدعم معالي الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن عبدالعزيز آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية، حيث تم تشكيل “اللجنة الوطنية لاستضافة دولة قطر معرض إكسبو الحدائق 2023″، بقرار مجلس الوزراء رقم (24) لسنة 2019، وتضم اللجنة شركاء من الجهات الحكومية وهي: وزارات /الداخلية، والخارجية، والبيئة والتغير المناخي، والمالية، والثقافة، والرياضة والشباب، والمواصلات، والاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، والتجارة والصناعة/، وهيئة الأشغال العامة، والمجلس الوطني للسياحة، واللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث.

وأكد سعادته أن اللجنة تواصل استعداداتها لاستضافة معرض إكسبو 2023 بالدوحة، بالرغم من التحديات المتعلقة بجائحة /كوفيدـ 19/ عالميًا ومحليًا، منوها بجهود فريق العمل بقيادة الأمين العام للجنة المهندس محمد علي الخوري مدير إدارة الحدائق العامة، والذين يواصلون التخطيط والعمل بكامل قوتهم وبالسرعة المطلوبة لتنظيم حدث لا يُنسى.

وأعرب سعادته عن أمله أن تستمر الظروف الصحية العالمية في التغير بشكل إيجابي إلى أن نحتفل معاً بافتتاح معرضنا الدولي للبستنة بالدوحة في الثاني من أكتوبر 2023 إلى نهاية مارس 2024، والذي سيشمل ستة شهور من الفعاليات والاحتفالات مع المجتمع الدولي المشارك.

وأكد سعادة الوزير على الدور الهام لجميع القطاعات الحكومية وشبه الحكومية والخاصة والتي ستقوم بدعم جهود الدولة لجعل هذا الحدث مميزا على الأصعدة كافة كونه أول معرض دولي للبستنة في المنطقة.

وخلال مؤتمر صحفي عقد اليوم، بهذه المناسبة، أوضح السيد محمد علي الخوري الأمين العام للجنة الوطنية لاستضافة دولة قطر لإكسبو الدوحة 2023 للبستنة ومدير إدارة الحدائق العامة في وزارة البلدية أن معرض البستنة الدولي من الفئة A1 يُقام لأول مرة بدولة قطر وسيكون أول معرض دولي للبستنة من نوعه يقام في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.

وقال إن هذا المعرض يُدشن تحت رعاية كل من المكتب الدولي للمعارض، (وهو المنظمة الحكومية الدولية المسؤولة عن الإشراف على جميع المعارض الدولية وتنظيمها)، والجمعية الدولية للبستنة، (وهي منظمة غير حكومية دولية متخصصة في تشجيع العاملين في قطاع البستنة).. منوها بأن البستنة هي فن زراعة النباتات في الحدائق لإنتاج الغذاء والمكونات الطبية أو لأغراض الراحة والزينة. وقد اضطلع هذا المعرض خلال القرن الحادي والعشرين بمهمة أساسية تتمثل في مشاركة الخبرات والحلول لتحسين جودة الحياة في المدن من خلال تطوير البستنة.

وتحدث السيد الخوري عن شعار المعرض /صحراء خضراء، بيئة أفضل/ وهو الشعار الرئيسي الذي وقع عليه الاختيار لمعرض /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/ للبستنة (قطر)، وهو شعار يهدف إلى إلهام الزوار وإطلاعهم على الحلول المبتكرة والحدّ من التصحر البيئي. ويتضمن هذا الشعار أربعة محاور فرعية تمهد الطريق لتقديم تجربة فريدة من نوعها للزوار ليس فقط بتقديم المعلومات المفيدة لهم ولكن لتحفيزهم أيضًا للمشاركة جسديًا وفكريًا وإلهامهم ليكونوا جزءًا من التغيير، وهذه المحاور الفرعية هي: الزراعة الحديثة، والتكنولوجيا والابتكار، والوعي البيئي، والاستدامة.

وأكد أن دولة قطر تفخر باستضافة معرض إكسبو الدولي الذي سيشهد مشاركة 80 دولة، إلى جانب عدد من المنظمات الدولية وممثلي القطاع الخاص والمنظمات غير الحكومية والجمهور العام ليلتقوا تحت سقف واحد للتفاعل على امتداد 179 يومًا في الفترة من 2 أكتوبر 2023 وحتى 28 مارس 2024 على مساحة 1.7 مليون متر مربع بحديقة البدع الخلابة.

وأضاف أن هذا المعرض سوف يتيح الفرصة أمام 3 ملايين زائر للتعرف على فعاليات متعددة الأنشطة تتخللها معارض استثنائية ولقاءات دبلوماسية واجتماعات عمل ومناقشات عامة، ومن المتوقع أن يكون لهذه الباقة الثرية أثر عميق وإرث كبير يلقي بظلاله على قطر والمنطقة والعالم بأسره، حيث تشمل مزيجًا من أنماط الحياة الصحية، والاقتصادات الخضراء، وأنماط الحياة المستدامة، والتعليم، والترفيه، والابتكار.

وتابع الخوري قائلا “فضلًا عن ذلك، وانطلاقًا من أهمية هذا الحدث الهام، حرصنا على تصميم شعار يحتفي بقوة العمل الجماعي بحيث يكون جذابًا وملائمًا من الناحية الثقافية ومعاصرًا من الناحية البصرية، كما سيشهد /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/ حملة محلية وإقليمية ودولية للترويج لهذه الفعالية الفريدة وتشجيع العالم على القدوم لدولة قطر وزيارتها وعيش تجربة لا تُنسى من خلال هذا الحدث المميز.

وأعرب السيد محمد علي الخوري عن تطلعه لاستضافة والترحيب بالجهات الفاعلة المحلية والإقليمية والدولية والشركات والعائلات التي ستتعاون معًا لضمان نجاح معرض /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/ للبستنة (قطر) وأن يكون علامة مميزة أخرى ضمن رؤية قطر 2030 الرامية لبناء غد أفضل.

من جانبها، أكدت السيدة هيفاء العتيبي مدير إدارة الفعاليات والاتصال المؤسسي – /إكسبو الدوحة 2023/، على ريادة دولة قطر في استضافة أهم وأبرز الفعاليات العالمية الكبرى، وعلى استعداد الدولة لانعقاد هذا الحدث العالمي الكبير، بعد أن أصبحت قطر تمتلك عددا من الإنجازات والمبادرات في مجال البستنة، والتي سيتم عرضها في هذا المعرض الاستثنائي، مثمنة الثقة الكبيرة لتنظيم معرض متوافق مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 في ركائزها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والبيئية والتي تهدف لتحويل قطر إلى دولة متقدمة تعمل على تحقيق التنمية المستدامة.

ونوهت بمكان إقامة المعرض في حديقة البدع، وهو أحد أكثر الأماكن العامة المحببة للنفس في قلب مدينة الدوحة، حيث سيتم تقسيم الموقع إلى ثلاث مناطق سيجري تصميمها وتجهيزها لتعزيز تجربة فريدة ومميزة وهي المنطقة الدولية وستكون بوابة المعرض والنقطة المحورية للحديقة والمعارض والفعاليات الدولية.. ومنطقة العائلات حيث تستغل هذه المنطقة من الحديقة نظرًا لمزاياها العديدة لتكون بمثابة مركز عائلي لإقامة الأنشطة والتجمعات والهوايات في الهواء الطلق من أجل بث روح المرح والترفيه.. وأخيرا المنطقة الثقافية وهي المكان المثالي لاستضافة الأنشطة والمعارض الثقافية والتراثية لقربها من المركز التاريخي لمدينة الدوحة ومعالمها الأثرية.

وقالت السيدة هيفاء العتيبي إن دولة قطر أثبتت عبر تاريخها قدرتها على تحقيق الإنجازات الصعبة ومواجهة أصعب التحديات، وستكون متميزة في إقامة أول معرض دولي للبستنة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، في بيئة يغلب عليها الطابع الصحراوي، مؤكدة العزم على تحويل صحراء قطر ذات التاريخ والأصالة العريقة بالعمل والجهد وبالخبرات والتكنولوجيا والمعرفة إلى واحة خضراء وإيجاد الحلول الاستراتيجية للحد من عملية التصحر في المنطقة والعالم.
