Qatar’s IPI Records Slight Decrease in September

Doha: The Industrial Production index (IPI), September 2021 in Qatar amounted to 101.8 points, decreased by 0.3% compared to the previous month (August 2021), while increased by 1.7%, when compared to the corresponding month in 2020. Graph (1) illustrates the time series of the IPI and monthly rates of change since September of 2020 until September of 2021, and table (1) shows the monthly and annual comparison of the Industrial Production Index September 2021.

The Industrial Production Index (IP) consists of three main components: “Mining” with a relative importance of 83.6%, “Manufacturing” with a relative importance of 15.2%, “Electricity” with a relative importance of 0.7%, and finally “Water” with a relative importance of 0.5%.

According to the Planning and Statistics Authority this index details the growth of various industrial sectors in economy such as “Mining”, “Manufacturing”, “Electricity production”, and “Water production and desalination”. It is a short-term quantitative index that measures the changes in the volume of productions of a selected basket of industrial products over a given period with respect to that in a chosen period called the base period.

For “Mining”: The index of this sector showed a decrease by 0.2% compared to the previous month (August 2021), as a result of the decrease in the quantities of “crude oil petroleum and natural gas” by 0.2%, while “Other mining and quarrying” showed a decrease by 0.1%. When compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (September 2020), the IPI of Mining increased by 1.3%.

As for “Manufacturing”: The index of this sector showed a decrease by 0.2% compared to the previous month (August 2021), The groups showed a decrease include: “Manufacture of basic metals” by 3.8%, and “Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products” by 0.1%. However, an increase recorded in Printing and reproduction of recorded media by 51.0%, followed by “Manufacture of rubber and plastics products” by 8.0%, “Manufacture of food products” by 6.8%, “Manufacture of Cement and other non-metallic mineral products” by 1.5%, “Manufacture of beverages” by 1.4%, and “Manufacture of refined petroleum products” by 1.2%.

On the other hand, in terms of annual change, comparing to September 2020, an increase of 4.6% was recorded, affected by the following groups: Printing and reproduction of recorded media by 51.0%, “Manufacture of refined petroleum products” by 23.8%, “Manufacture of Cement & other non-metallic mineral products” by 17.2%, “Manufacture of food products” by 6.8%, “Manufacture of rubber and plastics products” by 3.2%, and “Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products” by 1.2%. However, a decrease recorded in “Manufacture of beverages” by 3.8%, and “Manufacture of basic metals” by 0.5%.

Concerning the “Electricity”: A decrease of 8.0% was noticed in the production of “Electricity” between September 2021 and the previous month (August 2021). Comparing with corresponding month (September 2020), a decrease of 2.1% was recorded.

As for “Water”, a decrease of 3.2% was noticed in the production of ‘Water” between September 2021 and the previous month (August 2021). Comparing with corresponding month (September 2020), a decrease of 23.3% was recorded.

الدوحة: سجل مؤشر الإنتاج الصناعي بالدولة انخفاضا طفيفا في سبتمبر الماضي بلغ 0.3 في المئة قياسا بالشهر السابق له، بينما ارتفع بنحو 1.7 في المئة على أساس سنوي بالمقارنة مع سبتمبر 2020، ليصل إلى 101.8 نقطة.

ويعكس هذا المؤشر تفاصيل نمو القطاعات الاقتصادية الصناعية المختلفة مثل التعدين، الذي يشكل 83.6 في المئة من وزن المؤشر، ثم الصناعات التحويلية، وإنتاج الكهرباء، وإنتاج وتحلية الماء، وتمثل 15.2 في المئة و0.7 في المئة، و0.5 في المئة من وزن المؤشر على التوالي.

وتشير بيانات جهاز التخطيط والإحصاء إلى انخفاض مؤشر قطاع التعدين بنسبة 0.2 في المئة في سبتمبر الماضي مقارنة مع الشهر السابق له، وذلك بسبب تراجع الكميات المنتجة في مجموعة النفط الخام والغاز الطبيعي بالنسبة ذاتها، كما انخفضت مجموعة الأنشطة الأخرى للتعدين واستغلال المحاجر بنسبة 0.1 في المئة.. بينما سجل القطاع ارتفاعا بنحو 1.3 في المئة عند المقارنة مع سبتمبر 2020.

وسجل قطاع الصناعة التحويلية، بين أغسطس وسبتمبر هذا العام انخفاضاً قدره 0.2 في المئة نتيجة انخفاض الإنتاج في مجموعتين هما صناعة الفلزات القاعدية (المعادن الأساسية) بنسبة 3.8 في المئة، وصناعة المواد الكيميائية والمنتجات الكيميائية بنسبة 0.1 في المئة.. بينما سجل ارتفاعا في مجموعة الطباعة واستنساخ وسائط الإعلام المسجلة بنسبة 51.0 في المئة، وفي صناعة منتجات المطاط واللدائن بنسبة 8.0 في المئة، وفي صناعة المنتجات الغذائية بنسبة 6.8 في المئة، وفي صناعة الإسمنت ومنتجات المعادن اللافلزية الأخرى بنسبة 1.5 في المئة، وفي صناعة المشروبات بنسبة 1.4 في المئة، وفي صناعة المنتجات النفطية المكررة بنسبة 1.2 في المئة.

وعلى صعيد التغير السنوي في الصناعات التحويلية، تفيد البيانات بارتفاع قدره 4.6 في المئة عن (سبتمبر 2020)، بسبب ارتفاع إنتاج الطباعة واستنساخ وسائط الإعلام المسجلة بنسبة 51.0 في المئة، والمنتجات النفطية المكررة بنسبة 23.8 في المئة، والإسمنت ومنتجات المعادن اللافلزية الأخرى بنسبة 17.2 في المئة، والمنتجات الغذائية بنسبة 6.8 في المئة، ومنتجات المطاط واللدائن بنسبة 3.2 في المئة، والمواد الكيميائية والمنتجات الكيميائية بنسبة 1.2 في المئة.. بينما شهدت صناعة المشروبات تراجعا في الإنتاج بنسبة 3.8 في المئة، وصناعة الفلزات القاعدية (المعادن الأساسية) بنسبة 0.5.

ووفقا للبيانات، انخفض إنتاج قطاع الكهرباء، بين شهري أغسطس وسبتمبر 2021، بنسبة 8.0 في المئة، وعند المقارنة مع (سبتمبر 2020) كان الانخفاض بنسبة 2.1 في المئة.. كما سجل قطاع الماء، هو الآخر انخفاضا شهريا في الإنتاج بنسبة 3.2 في المئة، بينما بلغ الانخفاض السنوي 23.3 في المئة.
